  1. that's awful o: Sony BMG really are an awful label - what a disgusting way to treat one of your most established and long serving artists.
  2. Kiseki posted a post in a topic in International Charts
Artists usually create PVs for album tracks to help promote the album - for 'GUILTY' Ayu made extra videos for 'Marionette' & '[Don't] Leave Me Alone' :D
  3. and it was #1 on the independant chart, so it wasn't really THAT much of a flop. When is Brooke coming to the UK omg! O:
  4. Kiseki posted a post in a topic in International Charts
No, 'GUILTY' is the new album. Her last single was 'Talkin' 2 Myself' which was released a few months ago 6N5MzYX41os
  5. Eugh, what ever happened to the Janet that was able to make hard hitting social commentaries and yet still pull off amazing songs. None of this 'Asian Persuasion' $h!t

It's amazing how high the album sales were yet single sales were so low
  7. In Japan, up to a million it goes in 250Ks for platinum, however, after that every other million = platinum. For example, the biggest selling album [utada Hikaru - First Love] sold 10 million copies. 1 million = 4x platinum, then the other 9 million equal a platinum shipment each.
  8. Sure, all subjects require time and effort, but there are more traditional subjects which are obviously more respectable, more reliable on fact and less of opinion. Some are just bits and pieces of ''real'' subjects e.g business and accountancy = economics. Mabye it's just me, but i'd rate subjects like maths/science/languages are more suitable
  9. I thinkit's disgusting the way people who work in call centers are treated. No wonder they feel like $h!t, even people on here admit to giving them abuse. As if that's going to help you |= In the end they're just doing their job, they don't deserve what they get, Indian or not.

Without a doubt most the majority of this lies at the top position of the albums chart, where, for the first time in her illustrious 10 year career, Ayumi Hamasaki, the 'Empress' of JPop, failed to reach the #1 spot with an origial album. Instead folk rock group kobukuro hold their second week at #1 with new album '5296.' Their previous album 'ALL SINGLES BEST' released in 2006 is still on the charts, and will most probably sell 3 million copies by the end of 2008, having sold 72K since the start of 2008 alone. AYumi's 'GUILTY' still manages to sell 432,000 copies. Fans argue that if it was the one week only chart she would have been #1. However, this would have also meant sales of just 202K. Regardless, 432K is her lowest ever first week opening. Perhaps it's the end of year specials effects, but many singles and albums are enjoying huge sales. EXILE has already outsold the #1 of 2007, DREAMS COME TRUE are having a great comeback [the new album outsold their last in its first week] and the vocalist albums are making another comeback in the chart. Further down former superstar Kuraki Mai opens at #14 with her new album, although a few weeks ago those sales would have gotten her top 3 [to put things in perspective] Single sales are pretty low. SMAP the ledgendary JE group gain yet another #1, though the most interesting act is at #3, Masafumi Akikawa. His song 'Sen no Kaze ni Natte' was the #1 single of 2007, despite being released years ago. His recent performances of the song seem to have once again, surged the popularity. Will this song ever die? The singles chart is quiet lately, as the majority of the top 10 are songs released weeks ago, such as Hey!Say!Jump, and ZARD

Her whole career is based on selling out, I don't see how this is any different. The only difference is instead of follwing a trend which has been on the underground she's clinging to the tried and tested timbaland formula
  12. Brooke  I've been a fan since 2005, looking forward to this! :D
  13. Not necesserily though. She could always market herself as a Tori Amos style artist so she can remain with her rock sound but still be quirky. It has to be remembered sales aren't anything. I'd rather her album sell 100 copies and be as good as DELL than it sell 10 million and be like LS. Of course, diversity is good, just not selling out ~
  14. I don't like the sound of that at all to be honest  It's the type of music that's a big hit for her, but I really don't think it adds to her credibility, pluss rock Shakira always pwns :P

  20. Sir Paul McCartney has said he left EMI, his record label of 45 years, as it had become "boring" and he had "dreaded going to see" its executives. (BuzzJack.com) - The former member of The Beatles said that the company's handling of his music had become "symbolic of the treadmill". He recently signed a contract with Starbucks' label 'Hear Music' which has other artists such as Joni Mitchell. "Everybody at EMI had become part of the furniture. I'd be a couch; Coldplay are an armchair," Sir Paul said. "Robbie Williams, I dread to think what he was." "I could guess what they were going to say. 'Love your record, Paul.' And I'd say, 'Well what should we do with it?' "Then they'd go: 'Well, we think you ought to go to Cologne,' which is what they always say," the star explained. "You go somewhere, speak to a million journalists for one day and you get all the same questions. So I started saying, 'God, we've got to do something else.'" Sir Paul insts that although he wanted to release his music quick, this was prevented by his label who claims told him that they needed six months to properly promote his work. Sir Paul released Memory Almost Full, his first album through Hear Music, in June. The album sold more copies in the US in its first week than any of his other studio albums. Earlier this week, it was announced that the veteran performer would be recieving the 2008 Brit Award for outstanding contribution to music.
