My BRAT tour date last month kept Charli in the race but ultimately 'Short n' Sweet' being the bigger album for me has kept Sabrina ahead. Expect Sabrina to continue to be a threat next year with her tour coming to UK where I will be seeing her for a third time. The Eras Tour was almost enough for Taylor Swift to get the win but she ends up in second place. She was definitely my sound of the summer where I was just rinsing the playlist with all the songs she performed on my show (including the surprise songs 'I Can See You', 'Mine', 'Cornelia Street' and 'Maroon'). I've finally got my favourite album of hers on vinyl ('Reputation') as a Christmas present today and I can't wait to give that a spin. Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA Highlights - Darling, I, Take Your Mask Off, Like Him FQg-RZxDwhQ Two albums that didn't initially hook me to open the top 5 with CHROMAKOPIA initially feeling like bit of a step-down for Tyler after his last two incredible albums. I'm still not fully sold on 'Sticky' but, aside from that, I know fully appreciate what this album is trying to do. 'Judge Judy' and 'Hey Jane' are two of the best story-telling tracks for a long time and 'Like Him' is equally as heart-breaking. I'm so hyped for this tour next year. It was actually a tour this year that helped Deeper Well fully win me over. I've seen some of my all-time favourites this year but I think Kacey Musgraves might have been the best concert of the year. If you ever get the chance, I can't recommend seeing her more. The deluxe version was released after this and by that time, I was obsessed with the album and actually think the deluxe has the stand-out tracks. Landing in bronze position after a wonderful 2024 is Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet. The single run from this is insane and I'm so happy that she's realised her potential and become the new main pop girlie. 'emails i can't send' remains one of the best albums of the decade and while this album can't match that, I do think that it has the higher peaks. Just missing out on my top album of the year is The Auditorium, Vol. 1. By far and away the best Hip-Hop record of the 2020s so far, the only world I have to describe this album is exquisite. Pete Rock's beats are smooth as hell and Common has done what most rappers can't and age like fine wine with some of the most intelligent and hitting verses of the year. This album feels like a proper throwback to my favourite eras of rap and doesn't waste a second of it's 63 minute runtime. But there can only be one winner and after an agonising over 3-year wait for new music, there was no way that Ariana Grande and 'eternal sunshine' was not going to come out on top. It might not be in my holy trinity of Ariana albums ('thank u, next', 'Dangerous Woman' and 'My Everything') but I do think it's better than 'positions' and was well-worth the wait, She doesn't go for the high notes like we know she can on this album but what she does instead is treat us to a more sultry tone that feels more raw which helps the stories of her tracks come through even more,

It's far from my favourite album from Kendrick but it feels like a fitting one after the year he's had. BRAT might be the most critically acclaimed album of the year but it hasn't been able to live up to 'CRASH' for me as that was my #1 album of 2022. I do still love it though and it was amazing seeing her in an arena show setting last month compared to the smaller venue for the last tour. THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT took a few listens for me to really love but seeing The Eras Tour certainly helped. I'll stick to the original version though, I'm a rarity in not really enjoying the extra Anthology tracks. Everybody Can't Go was the best discovery from my initial plan to listen to all the major Hip-Hop releases of the year. Benny has released three projects this year and I've enjoyed them all but this was certainly the pick of the bunch. Willson completed the trilogy of Ashe albums titled after each part of her full name and is the best of the three. Definitely the most under-looked album of the year.

It's a Christmas miracle as we get the box office numbers as a Christmas Eve treat. As I said yesterday, the number one film is 'Mufasa: The Lion King' with £4,415,961. 2019's 'The Lion King' opened with an astonishing £16,671,764 so this has only opened to about a quarter of the original film. Finishing on £76 million, that remains as the 13th biggest release of all-time in the UK so Disney will be panicking about these numbers. However, this is the fourth attempt by Disney to create a sequel (or prequel) to a live-action remake and this is actually the best result of the lot. '102 Dalmatians' opened with £1,179,758 in 2000, 'Alice Through The Looking Glass' opened to £2,229,399 in 2016 while 'Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil' debuted with £3,300,000 in 2019. You can easily spin that into a positive, the openings are increasing with each attempt! By the time we get to the live-action 'Wish 2' in 2040 maybe we'll be seeing some high numbers. For anyone who's familiar with the plot of the film, you won't be surprised to hear that 'Mufasa' is a prequel with Aaron Pierre stepping into the looming shoes of the late James Earl Jones. But most intriguingly, 'Mufasa' is directed by Barry Jenkins who's 'Moonlight' infamously won the Best Picture Oscar in 2017. Christmas can be kind to films as the kids being off school can allow for some good holds so let's see how this can get on over the next few weeks. See below for lists of both Disney Remake debut weekends and Barry Jenkins debut weekends. As previously mentioned, 'Sonic The Hedgehog 3' did open on Saturday to impressive numbers but these are being counted as previews so we won't see it in the chart until next week where it will have an inflated 9-day opening. This means that the only other new entry this weekend is 'The Nutcracker: Royal Ballet & Opera 2024/25' (£227,083, #7). It's a tradition for the ROH to release their Nutcracker performance in cinemas each Christmas and this year is an improvement on last year (£181,960). However, this is probably helped by being released one week closer to Christmas this year. With midweek showings this year's has made £837,061 while last year's had £803,518 by the end of it's first weekend. Holding at #2 for a 4th week and doing no harm in it's battle to be the year's biggest film is 'Wicked'. Dipping just 28%, the film is already up to £48 million while still making £2 million+ weekend figures. With the sing-a-long version released this week, if that does well then I think it will be a lock for the year end #1. It's about £11 million behind 'Inside Out 2' at the moment. After three weeks at #1, 'Moana 2' drops to #3 with another £2 million. This is a 43% drop on last weekend but with 2 new, big kids films being in cinemas this weekend, I think this is actually a brilliant hold, especially when compared to it's first two weekend drops. This is enough for it to climb above 'Gladiator II' in the YTD chart. Speaking of 'Gladiator II', it has finally dropped behind 'Paddington In Peru' due to the bear having a wonderful hold of -21%. 'Gladiator II' will be the 8th 2024 film to pass £30 million this weekend with 4 of them being November releases. 'Conclave' is almost at £5 million after another good hold and has overtaken 'Ferrari' to be the 2nd biggest film distributed to Black Bear, trailing another release from this year, 'Longlegs'. 'Kraven The Hunter' will not be hunting down any of the other Sony films as it has a dismal 75% drop in weekend 2 as it sits at a £1.2 million total. Despite being able to stream on Prime Video, 'Red One' still hangs around the top 10 with this weekend pushing it above £8 million. I think Amazon messed up by not letting it have the full festive period exclusively in cinemas. One seasonal re-entry this week and it's 'It's A Wonderful Life' at #9 (£140,144). On the equivalent weekend last year, it was also at #9 with £269,149. However, that did include Christmas Eve in it's 3 day-weekend. There is one further new entry in the #11-15 section: 'Marco' (#15). Next week sees the openings of 'Sonic The Hedgehog 3', 'Better Man', 'Baby John', 'The Order' and 'How To Make Millions Before Grandma Dies'. We also see a re-release of 'Spirited Away' as well as the sing-a-long version of 'Wicked'. 2023 Re-Cap 01. Maisie Peters - Run Xmasexzc0ug Does it hold up?: I still absolutely adore this and the whole album has remained on constant repeat for me all year but I would now probably say I would rank it bronze. Probably because I've spammed it too much but it hasn't been able to retain that spark that made it such a special track. It's still a 10/10 but it was an 11/10 for me last year.

I'll make a proper post when the full numbers are out (it may be after Christmas but we'll see) but the big news is that 'Mufasa: The Lion King' is the #1 movie of the week with about £4.4 million. Very poor opening and I'll get into in more detail when I make the full post. 'Sonic The Hedgehog 3' made £4.3 million in it's 2 days of previews (Saturday and Sunday). These won't be counted until next week's chart where it will be an easy #1. However the Sunday gross was a big drop from the Saturday which suggests that it might not have great legs. ~ This is looking like a great shout. :D Sonic would have easily been #1 this weekend if it opened properly. Although, 'Deadpool & Wolverine' still has the biggest debut of the year when you count previews. 'Wicked' has the biggest 3-day opening.

2023 Re-Cap 02. Dua Lipa - Dance The Night OiC1rgCPmUQ Does it hold up?: I do still love this but I probably wouldn't have ranked it as high as #2 in retrospect. With Barbie being so huge in 2023, it really seemed to define that year. 'Radical Optimism' was a bit of a disappointment as an album so Dua won't be appearing this high again this year but will still have a couple of entries.

2023 Re-Cap 03. Madison Beer - Home To Another One xSSLSjNJIBw Does it hold up?: I'm still not over this one at all. It's so short that it demands repeat listens and it hasn't get old no matter how many I've heard it. I saw Madison twice on concert this year and this was always a highlight.

Espresso is a great choice for video of the year! I love how it ends with her getting arrested and setting up the video for Please Please Please.

Hi Pete I don't think we're going to have any crossover this year but still excited to follow along ofc. I've give the Bastille and Alicia Keys songs a spin as I don't think I've heard anything by either of them for years. The Bastille song is definitely a different vibe from the indie-pop they're known for. It sounds like it could be a John Lewis Christmas Advert song. Judging from the video, the Alicia Keys song seems to be for the movie version of 'The Color Purple'. I did see that so I must have heard it before. It's pretty!

2023 Re-Cap 04. Maisie Peters - Body Better g5G3H0Wn-GI Does it hold up?: Yes, this would probably be my #1 if I were to re-rank last year's chart. This was the perfect lead single for 'The Good Witch' and it's crazy that I only let it debut at #7 in my chart. It was my most played song of 2023 and it's continued to be on rotation this year. I'm so excited to hear what she's been cooking up for the lead of her next album.

'good 4 u' is still probably my favourite from Olivia but I can't complain why 'bad idea, right?' being your favourite. It's so good! Thanks :)
