Surprise-released alongside the announced single 'Audrey Hepburn, this was the best kind of treat and one I was very happy to accept after living on breadcrumbs for two years. This is the perfect blend of the pop sounds of her last album and the folkier influences of her other new singles. Lyrically, this one is really raw and personal. Maisie really has such a wonderful talent of getting her emotion across in a poetic way without cheapening the impact. I also love the use of the vocoder (which I didn't release I was such a fan of until writing these commentaries) as the robotic effect really sells the concept of losing one's identity to another person. I remember she put a poll on her Instagram after these double-bill was released to see which one people prefer and this was the rightful winner, showing that everyone loves heartbreak songs more than love songs! We're definitely in the repetition section today with Madison's repeated 'yeses' and Maisie's 'yous'. But is just goes to show how well it works to get something stuck in your head. Best Part: The rawness of the lyrics

It's early to say but it seems pretty much nailed on that she will be in 2026's top 10 too with how much I'm loving 'bad enough' currently. Back to 'yes baby' which completed the golden trifecta of the moody dance-pop sound she carved out for herself after 'make you mine' and '15 MINUTES'. All three songs were co-produced by Madison and Leroy Clampitt (with LOSTBOY also appearing on the latest two) and I'm just obsessed with the niche they've created for themselves. Madison's vocals sound incredible over these beats and it sounds so unlike what everyone else is doing. It's a crime that they haven't propelled her into the A-list of pop music yet. Lyrically, this sound is virtually non-existent, a quick count of the lyrics on genius suggests that there's 76 uses of 'baby' and 138 uses of 'yes', but that's not what this song is all about and you will struggle to find anything else last year that matches the pure energy of this. When I first finalised this list, I was thinking that maybe it's gone a little too high on this so the album has been perfectly timed to make me fall back in love with it and think I made the right choice. 'Side to Side', 'Feather', (another song that's still to come in my list) and 'Yes Baby'. Exercise-based music videos always accompany bangers from the pop girls. Best Part: The mastering of the moody-dance pop phase of her career

UK Singles Chart new entry of the week | 2026 Week 3
Skye Newman - Lonely Girl Luke Combs - Sleepless in a Hotel Room Zach Bryan - Plastic Cigarette Zach Bryan - Appetite Bruno Mars - I Just Might A$AP Rocky - PUNK ROCKY Zach Bryan - Say Why The Kid LAROI - RATHER BE (feat. Lithe) Second week in a row where there's nothing I love. I'm going to be a maverick this week as I reckon the two songs I'm voting for have a good chance of being the bottom two! Skye actually sounds pretty nice on 'Lonely Girl' and 'Sleepless in a Hotel Room' is surprisingly solid.

The first of these is 'Same Mouth', the lead single to her 2nd EP of 2025, 'Voyeur'. My third most played song of 2025 and for good reason. This a song that gets better the more you listen to it. I've already mentioned how great I think she is at finding memorable melodies and this is a great example of that. The chorus isn't one that immediately jumps out at you but instead sticks with you, haunting you like a ghost. Shouting along to this at the Dua Lipa concert in Liverpool while nobody else around me seeing like they know who she was will always be a fun memory. Best Part: The outro which is just the chorus sung in a more sombre tone

I hadn't seen the film when this was in my chart so was unable to appreciate just how accurate it is for her character and how the intro actually pulls lines directly from the dialogue of the film. But it just goes to show how good of a song it is that I still loved it from its own merits. In fact, at the halfway stage of 2025, it was looking like this could have been on track to be a EOY #1 contender. Writing it over Oscar-winner Ludwig Göransson's movie-score was a genius idea and lends a sense of polish and a cinematic not present in most other pop songs. I don't think Hailee is particularly knows as a vocalist but she proper belts out this one and really makes me wish she would return to the music-side of her multi-hyphenate career. On a side note having now seen the film, I really think Hailee should be involved in any discussions about the top actors of her generation, she is always brilliant in anything she's in and I think she might have the most consistently strong filmography out of anyone working in Hollywood today. Just look back at her films and you will not find one dud and even the all-timers have the odd disaster. Best Part: The epic production nicked from the score

Doja Cat & RAYE) LISA makes it two-years in a row where she bags herself an EOY top 10 while this is RAYE's fist entry in my EOY charts in total while Doja Cat makes her first appearance since 2021. 'Born Again' was released all the way back in February in the middle of a three-week spell where JENNIE, LISA and JISOO all released new solo songs. Initially looking like it could be a big hit, this provided LISA belatedly with her first UK solo top 40 hit making her the last of BLACKPINK to achieve the feat. Originally written and performed by RAYE and leaked as a demo in 2021, I think it was a brilliant decision to get the three artist on board because they have great chemistry and sound surprisingly brilliant together. I really love that they also get ample time to shine with Doja going through her repertoire of different flows and voices and RAYE getting to highlight that she can rap too in the bridge. A boon of all their music after I attended two dates on the 'DEADLINE WORLD TOUR' was the boost this needed to ensure its EOY top 10 position. I still don't quite understand why the three of them got to sign James Bond themes at the Academy Awards last year, but why not? Best Part: The interplay between the three

When this was first announced, I would have said it was the safest bet you could ever imagine that this would hit #1 in my chart. However, it ended up having to wait until its fifth week (and a well-timed music video release) to do so, thanks to her decision to surprise release another track I love even more alongside this. 'The Good Witch' was pure-pop and I LOVED IT so going back to her stripped-back roots was a bit of a risk and not what I was hoping for but I was still more than willing to give it a chance. In the end, I love her writing and craftmanship when it comes to lyrics especially so much that I succumbed to this very quickly. This song feels really warm with the guitar and piano evoking the classic styles of old. We haven't really had many pure love songs from Maisie before but I'm glad we got this one. So excited for the new single that's released next week. Best Part: The hummed post chorus

11. Reneé Rapp - Leave Me Alone1st Single from 'BITE ME' Release Date: 21st May 2025 Chart Run: 1-1-3-5-8-12-14-13-18-(x7)-18 (10 weeks) Put the three of us together, that's a real tongue twister Official Peak: 69 Crownnote Points Chart: 16 (16/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: 19 (19/100) Last.fm Chart: 4 (4/100) Reneé Rapp's Chart History: 2024 01 Not My Fault (Reneé Rapp & Megan Thee Stallion) 2025 01 Leave Me Alone 2025 04 Mad 2025 05 At Least I'm Hot 2025 08 Kiss It Kiss It 2025 12 Shy 2025 20 Why Is She Still Here? 2025 08 You'd Like That Wouldn't You 2025 16 Good Girl 2025 08 Lucky Reneé Rapp's EOY History: 2024 12 Not My Fault (Reneé Rapp & Megan Thee Stallion) 2025 11 Leave Me Alone 2025 38 Mad 2025 58 Kiss It Kiss It 2025 79 At Least I'm Hot 2025 93 Lucky Aside from #101, the most unfortunate place to land is #11. For whatever reason, there feels like little difference between an #11 and a #20 position but the prestige between an #11 and a #10 is enormous. Claiming the dubious honour this year is Reneé Rapp with 'Leave Me Alone', the lead-single from her sophomore album. She's particularly unlucky as 'Not My Fault' landed at a similar #12 last year. Certainly the messiest and most cocksure single of the year, this is Reneé's public persona wrapped up into 141 seconds. The references to her leaving of the TV show that helped build her fame ('The Sex Lives of College Girls), and the not so-complementary summarisation of its success afterwards, is playful but its the third verse where she cheekily proposes a reunion between her and her exes that leaves the most impact. A perfect way to end the song, even if I would love another minute of the madness. Your milage with this one will fully depend on how you get on with the repeated 'leave me alone bitch I wanna have fun' motif. I can see it really getting on some people's nerves! How apt is that official UK peak though! My 4th most listened to song last year, it does feel particularly egregious not having this in the top 10. Best Part: The boldness and brashness to start an era in this way

I love how eclectic the deluxe tracks from the eternal sunshine are and the biggest risks are found on this track. The elephant in the room is certainty the jazzy trumpet intro that evokes a 1930's Paris Jazz-Bar vibe that the rest of the trap-influenced production does not necessarily fully commit to. It's an odd blend but I adore it. It feels like she went into the studio with Martin & Ilya and just gave themselves free rein to try whatever ideas popped into their mind. This might be my favourite vocals from the whole album. They're so playful while still sounding heavenly. This is another that I NEED to be on the setlist for the summer. Please Ari!!! Best Part: The ridiculous jazz-trap clash of the production

13. HAIM - Relationships1st Single from 'I quit' Release Date: 12th March 2025 Chart Run: 3-1-3-3-6-10-13-11-18-19-19 (11 weeks) Why do I have a guilty conscience? HAIM) 2025 13 Relationships Definitely a group that have a deceivingly sparse history in my chart, I love HAIM a lot more than that would suggest, with songs like 'The Steps' didn't even make my weekly charts but are still in frequent rotation on my Spotify. They've tended to be a group where their music grows on me more over time but 'Relationships' was incredibly instant, giving the sisters their first ever #1 hit and now (by far) their highest EOY chart placement. This continued their pretty unique-sounding rock/indie/pop hybrid but there also feels like they added some R&B influences here too. It's a weird mix but it works so well. It's such a breezy track, even with the potentially incongruous sounds which makes it a brilliant one to sing along with. I saw HAIM on their tour this year and had an absolute blast. They bring such a fun energy to their shows which is a tad heavier than on their recordings. Este sounded insanely good singing 'Cry' bit it seemed to take every of energy she had to hit those notes. Best Part: Their catchiest hook yet

'That Could Be Me' was the second single to Alessi's 'Voyeur' EP and, after debuting at #2 behind the third ruling week by a song still to appear, a perfectly-timed (literally the same day it enter my chart) Dua Lipa supporting-gig saw it climb to top spot in its second week. A bit grittier than the other songs from the EP, there's a bit of a punkier influence here with a lot happening productionally in the chorus creating a (lite) wall-of-sound effect. Alessi really sells this one too with her vocal performance. A really confident delivery with the perfect amount of angst in the popular-bridge. Best Part: The effected, yodel-like delivery of 'meeee eeeee'

Named after the classic 1960s sci-fi anthology TV series, it sees Ari compare the surreal feeling of looking back at a past relationship that no longer feels real with the unnatural, eerie atmosphere that said show created. And much like the show, the song is a slow-build, a deceivingly slow synthy production, it sounds quite mysterious and playful with Ari's making use of her higher vocal range without ever overemoting. It's a pretty relaxing listen with the deeper message not clearer unless you actively listen. A twist just like the ones that made the show so famous. Best Part: Max Martin & Ilya Salmanzadeh's subtle but effective production

I believe they do count at the standard going rate as the cinemas still have to pay the film studios the standard price.

(07) Anaconda - £300,918 (-43%) Weeks: 4 (£5,226,009) Falling out: Song Song Blue (2 weeks) Giant (1 week) Labyrinth (40th Anniversary) (1 week) We do have a new number one but its one with an asterisk next to its name as ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ (£3,376,385, £2.4 million without previews) opens at #1 thanks to its previews. This is down on the £4,780,37 (£3.9 million without previews) that ’28 Years Later’ opened with in last June. However, there are definitely factors that influenced that. While last year’s film was certificated 15, this one has received the more-restrictive 18 rating. Last year’s film also had the advantage of having 18 years of hype since ’28 Weeks Later’ (£1,575,620, #2, 2007) and the return of original director Danny Boyle. Last year’s film was also very polarising with fans with a lot of people vocally hating the swings it took with the story. On directing duty this time is Nia DaCosta who has previously worked with franchises before in 2021’s ‘Candyman’ and ‘The Marvels’. The studio must have confidence in this film because the trilogy-closer has already been confirmed. On pure weekend gross, ‘The Housemaid’ would be celebrating a second week at the top after a 20% drop on weekend four. It has already made £22.7 million (7x its opening weekend) without any signs of slowing down and is now less than £1.5 million away from knocking ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ out of the 2025 EOY top 10. In Lionsgate history, this now ranks sixth overall in the UK with only ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise and ‘La La Land’ above it. Next week it will be in the top 5 with the original’ The Hunger Games’ (£4,900,177, #1, 2012, £23.7 million total) well within in its sights. The only other new entry this week is ‘Rental Family’ (£521,718, #7). Coming from Japanese director Hikari, this tells the story of a service that allows people to rent out actors to pretend to be other people in their lives. This was the first job taken by Brendan Fraser after his Oscar win for ‘The Whale’ and there was, at one time, buzz that he could repeat the feat with this. However, it has fallen well out of contention in the awards race, despite decent reviews, and I don’t think this debut is that bad in that context. We’ve already seen a few films completely bomb after missing out on awards (‘Christy’ anyone) so this looking to be a safe £1 million grosser isn’t too bad. We also do see one of the 25th anniversary re-releases of The Lord of the Rings trilogy make the top 10 with ‘Fellowship Of The Ring’ (£473,378, #8). It originally made £63 million in total. The remaining six holdovers can be separated into ‘Oscar fare’ and ‘blockbuster fare’, although with their box-office, it’s hard to tell which one is which! Let’s start with the awards-side and ‘Hamnet’ which has an amazing second weekend, just dropping 20% (15% without previews). When paired with strong a strong midweek showing, the film is already sitting pretty at £8.4 million after two weekends. If we look at other awards contenders, this is better than where ‘First Battle After Another’, ‘Sinners’, ‘Marty Supreme’ and ‘Bugonia’ were at the same stage. Talking of ‘Marty Supreme’, it adds another £1.5 million (-28%) to end its fourth weekend just short of £12 million. It has now overtaken ‘Weapons’ to climb to #24 in the 2025 YTD chart. Another £2.7 million will see it enter the top 20. ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ bridges the gap between the two categories and remains above £1 million for the fifth weekend after dropping 35%. It will soon pass £40 million and then we’ll have to see if it has the extra £7 million needed to catch ‘Wicked: For Good’ and ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy’. ‘Zootropolis 2’ finally (just) drops below £1 million after a 20% drop. It has now become the seventh film of 2025 to pass £30 million. ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants’ has a decent 24% drop while ‘Anacaonda’ has a heavier 43% drop. They both look to be on their last legs in the top 10. There are two further new entry in the #11-15 section: ‘Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu’ (#11) and ‘Parasakthi’ (#13). We also see a re-entry for 'The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers' at #15. Next week sees the openings of ‘Saipan’, ‘Mercy’, ‘Return To Silent Hill’, ‘The History Of Sound’, ‘H Is For Hawk’, ‘No Other Choice’, ‘Heavyweight’, ‘Megadeth: Behind The Mask’ and ‘Hamlet: NT Live 2026’. Can any of them top the charts? ~ Nia DaCosta openings: Candyman (£1,112,674, #2, 2021) The Marvels (£3,465,783, #1, 2023) Hedda (£5,233, #70, 2025) 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (£3,376,385, #1, 2026)

Friday Chart Predictions
I was confident that Madison would be able to get a top 10 album this time (especially when her team have been bold enough to book arenas for the tour this time around) but I wasn't sure how high it could go. Looks pretty good for top 5 if it can add a little more?

Dominic Fike) Just about squeezing above where 'Mantra' (#17) landed last year to become the biggest hit of the Ruby album, 'Love Hangover' saw JENNIE team up with Dominic Fike for this R&B/Pop hybrid. One of the most fun videos of the year was created with Riverdale's Charles Melton playing love-interest to a disaster-prone JENNIE who cannot stop dying on her dates in increasingly cartoonish ways in an on-the-nose metaphor for the struggles of dating. I've previously never been that taken with Fike's work but I really enjoy their verse here. They sound very laidback which pairs lovely with JENNIE's higher tones. I thought this one was going to have a quick lifespan for me after the first couple of weeks but it ended up sticking with me a lot more than I expected. I love this one a lot more than its chart run would suggest and marks the point where each song now was considered for inclusion in the EOY top 10. Best Part: Fike's smooth verse

17. But I heard some positive whispers about her comeback single 'Mature' so decided to check it out and ended up being very impressed. Having heard her second-single, I can't say the same about that (although I do still like it), but this song feels very mature. Knowing Duff from being a teen-star in Lizzy McGuire, it's really cool to get a reflective track like this so many years down the line. But not only is it a cool topic for the song, it also just sounds really good too. Hilary's vocals aren't necessarily the strongest but the song-writing and production both co-authored by her husband, Matthew Koma, really work well in elevating it. It sounds very Carly Rae-Jepsen to my ears and I think it is a simply a brilliantly conceived and executing pop song. Best Part: The guitar riff in the chorus that accentuate the lines

But what a fun song this is! I first listed to this album making my way to work without looking at the features but as soon as it got to this song and I heard Ciara on the intro, I thought this sounded like a hit. And then it continued and the two members of EARTHGANG also dropped in with their own verses and then I thought 'oh this is a hit-hit'. Definitely a divisive moment on the album with some of JIDs fan-base just wanting him to make 'serious Rap' and don't like the notion of hooks. But for everyone else, this is a stone-cold banger. The energy is contagious and I can't see one listening to this and not getting swept away with the vibes, it's pure joy. This is a throwback in the very best sense and is the most Atlanta-song of the year, if they haven't Georgia haven't already claimed it as the state-anthem, what are they waiting for? Best Part: Johnny Venus's mumbled outro

Tongue placed firmly in cheek with the title of this one as it's just a more anxious version of the previous song ('Say My Name In Your Sleep'). Both songs deal with the aftermath of a relationship and the other person moving on but, while Maisie explores it from a wiser, later-down-the-line perspective, this is certainly the initial stubborn, more petulant phase. Interestingly, the production never quite matches the pace of the slingshot thoughts and ideas in the lyrics which I think was a good choice. Best Part: Another fun bridge
