31. Megan Moroney - Am I Okay?1st Single from 'Am I Okay?' Release Date: 26th August 2024 Chart Run: 5-3-5-8-12-16-(x1)-18 (7 weeks) I think I'm really happy, I think I wanna stay Official Peak: n/a Crownnote Points Chart: 42 (41/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: 42 (42/100) Last.fm Chart: =89 (=59/100) Megan Moroney's Chart History: 2025 03 Am I Okay? 2025 14 Indifferent 2025 10 Man on the Moon 2025 18 Hope You're Happy 2025 06 6 Months Later 2025 19 Who's Your Daddy? Megan Moroney's EOY History: 2025 31 Am I Okay? 2025 59 6 Months Later This is a great example about how stats can lie. It's chart run and last.fm scrobbles suggest that it should be ranking at least 10 places lower. However, I'm worrying that even this is too low for where it really deserves. I'm slowly being converted by country music and this feels like another big milestone in my country journey. Only Kacey Musgraves has landed a higher song from the genre in my EOY chart ('breadwinner, #19, 2021) and I wonder how long that record will last. One thing that really won me over with this song is the music video. Megan is on directing duties herself and I think this is a brilliant choice as it allows her to make this a real showcase of her personality and ensure the video and song are perfectly in step. I know by proxy of it being the most recent track to appear should mean that it's obviously my favourite song so far but I want to emphasise that this is REALLY my favourite song so far by a considerable amount. I think this is one of those tracks where I will look back at in a few years time and question how it was never a #1 hit in my chart. Megan has a new single out tomorrow and I am hyped! Best Part: The way her personality shines throughout the video

32. Kylie Cantrall - Denim3rd Single from 'B.O.Y.' Release Date: 10th April 2025 Chart Run: 11-4-6-3-3-4-8-13 (8 weeks) Is it bad that I might just let him? Official Peak: n/a Crownnote Points Chart: 27 (27/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: =20 (=20/100) Last.fm Chart: =60 (=48/100) Kylie Cantrall's Chart History: 2025 07 Goodie Bag 2025 03 Denim 2025 06 See U Tonight (feat. ILLIT) 2025 14 Boy is Yours 2025 16 99 2025 20 Oversized Kylie Cantrall's EOY History: 2025 32 Denim 2025 51 Goodie Bag 2025 71 See U Tonight (feat. ILLIT) Marking a solid debut year in my charts with an EOY top 40 hit, Kylie Cantrall's 'Denim' continues, and perhaps masters, the pop-R&B sound from her first two singles. This was produced by Jonas Jeberg who also worked on other songs I love like Selena Gomez's 'Fetish', JENNIE's 'start a war' and Fifth Harmony's 'Sledgehammer'. Although he does also have a credit on 'High Hopes' by 'Panic! at the Disco' but everyone has an off-day. For what you expect Disney-star songs to sound like, this is pretty great and I really feel like she has great potential once she moves away from the Disney films. 'Goodie Bag' (quite literally) kicks-off where this one ends if you listen to the EP with them transitioning perfectly into each other in one of my favourite production choices of the year. Although, unlike with the previous song, I feel like this one was crying out for another verse. 2:27 just isn't enough! Best Part: The R&B influences

As long as you can get past the slight-cringiness factor that's always there in her lyrics, you're treated with a retro-sounding, synthy bop. After being teased in the last track, we go full vocoder here. The verses are actually quite forgettable and what really makes this song sing is the clean vocals on the pre-chorus and the fun release of the chorus. Although this year has proved that I'm a sucker for a good bridge when its done well, I actually enjoy that this one ends with synth break and not a traditional bridge/third verse/final chorus. I'm a bit disappointed this ended up as a one-off single, as it would have fit perfectly on the 'Genius' album we eventually got. Best Part: The synthy chorus with vocoder vocals

34. Alessi Rose - IKYKAlbum Track from 'for your validation' Release Date: 17th January 2025 Chart Run: 5-5-7-7-13-(x6)-8-7 (7 weeks) Sick of trying to be polite Official Peak: n/a Crownnote Points Chart: 41 (40/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: 31 (31/100) Last.fm Chart: =42 (=37/100) Alessi Rose's Chart History: 2025 03 start all over 2025 01 imsochillandcool 2025 09 pretty world 2025 09 oh my 2025 05 IKYK 2025 12 don't ask questions 2025 13 CRUSH! 2025 01 Same Mouth 2025 01 That Could Be Me 2025 04 Everything Anything 2025 02 Bittersweet 2025 08 Take It or Leave It 2025 15 RIP 2025 18 Stella 2025 20 Dumb Girl 2025 01 First Original Thought 2025 05 Get Around 2025 13 Falling Forever Alessi Rose's EOY History: 2025 34 IKYK 2025 37 Everything Anything 2025 46 Get Around 2025 50 start all over 2025 74 oh my 2025 78 pretty world 2025 88 Take It or Leave It Today's Alessi track is a non-single from her first EP Of 2025, 'IKYK'. Just like the song it succeeds, one thing I adore in this track is the staccato thumps in the chorus that give the song such a great energy. There so many melodies in here that I find so catchy, the aforementioned chorus, the elongated final syllables on the verses, the fast-paced post-chorus! You may know that my Taylor album of choice is 'reputation' so I certainly don't mind a bit of vocoder-vocals and we get a splattering of some here just to add a bit of flavour. This is a song from her burgeoning career that I already feel is hugely underrated. Best Part: The thumping drumline x2

35. JADE - Plastic Box4th Single from 'THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!' Release Date: 20th June 2025 Chart Run: 3-4-5-5-7-12-18 (6 weeks) Did you sink into her, fall in love at first sight? Official Peak: 44 Crownnote Points Chart: 34 (33/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: 33 (33/100) Last.fm Chart: =38 (=34/100) JADE's Chart History: 2024 01 Angel Of My Dreams 2024 07 Midnight Cowboy 2024 07 Fantasy 2025 01 IT girl 2025 14 FUFN (F**k You For Now) 2025 03 Plastic Box 2025 15 Lip Service 2025 17 Self Saboteur 2025 08 If My Heart Was A House 2025 14 Church 2025 16 This Is What We Dance For JADE's EOY History: 2024 30 Angel Of My Dreams 2025 35 Plastic Box The first of two JADE tracks to appear, 'Plastic Box' was criminally underrated in the UK chart, missing the top 40 by four positions. At least its been lauded critically with inclusions in NME, Pitchfork and the Guardian's 'songs of the year lists' as well as a slightly more-offbeat approval by winning the Popjustice £20 Music Prize. After a few OTT, maximalist singles ('IT girl', 'FUFN') where JADE throws everything at the wall, this was a much more subdued sound from her but it still hits just as hard. This provides her a great opportunity to show off the lovely tone she has in her vocals, especially in the deeper moments, and it combines so brilliantly with the production to make this something special. It was definitely one of the best moments in her tour show too! Best Part: The thumping drumline

UK Singles Chart new entry of the week | 2026 Week 2
Doechii - girl, get up. (feat. SZA) Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas Fleetwood Mac - Landslide ROLE MODEL - Writing's On The Wall Lil Uzi Vert - What You Saying Djo - Delete Ya James Marriott - California Rain She & Him - I Thought I Saw Your Face Today KATSEYE - Internet Girl Djo - Basic Being Basic Nothing I massively love this week but my top 2 are decent so I'll give them both a vote. 'Choosin' Texas' isn't the kind of country song I'd expect to blow up in the UK. I think 'Writing's On The Wall' sounded better than 'Sally...'., 'What You Saying' is better than the average Uzi song

Weekly UK Box Office
I wouldn't completely rule it out yet because the other two 'Avatar' films both had historic legs and held for ages but it does look like this one is falling away a bit more quickly and being effected by the strong competition so Universal must be quite confident for 'Wicked; For Good'. Agree that '28 Years Later' will be the #1 but I don't think having secret screenings have any effect on box office and made no difference to 'The Running Man' missing top spot.

Sabrina Carpenter) 2025 87 15 Minutes Another track off my favourite album of 2025, 'Never Getting Laid' is another example of Sabrina's mastering of her craft with more witty lyrics and memorable hooks. I do want to shout-out the production for John Ryan here too. Sometimes the art of contrasts can be an amazing thing in music and smooth production and sweet vocals from Sabrina work wonders in making the unserious, cynical lyrics really land. I usually try to pick a lyric that I feel sums up the message of track to quote above (not necessarily my favourite lyric) and I'm spoilt for choice here. So many great lines with the 'agoraphobia' line probably being the most eye-catching but it's the sarcastic second chorus that wins out for me. I was quite taken-aback with the slowed-down, stripped-back outro on first listen but I've grown to love it and find it essential in selling the absurdity. Best Part: The iconic lines

One thing I think's really impressive with Alessi is, for somebody so early into her career, she's already found her own distinct voice and I feel like I would have been able to identify this as an Alessi-penned song just from the lyrics and melodies had someone else recorded it. She already feels to me like she's an established, accomplished musician at the peak of her powers. Best Part: The guitar-led production from Couros

Debuting at #10 before camping at #4 for three weeks, 'Mad' helped consolidate Reneé as an artist I'm really excited about and helped ensure the album was put in heavy rotation. I particularly enjoy the delayed gratification of the songwritting where you know what she's suggesting with the long pause in the chorus but you think it's going to be one of those songs where they play coy and leave the meaning implicit before she finally drops the 'head' line in the outro. It is a slight cheesy but it matches her messy public persona. I can't wait to scream along to the chorus to this one on tour. Best Part: Seeing them re-team 7 years after 'Kiss and Make Up'

Despite not releasing any other new music aside from this feature, Dua Lipa had a great 2025 with her World Tour being a huge success and I took a trip to Anfield (boo) to see it. I wasn't sold on this at the start (see that #18 debut) but I changed my mind very quickly and with the Dua and, later a BLACKPINK, tour boost, it's held well in my affections. Dua Lipa does steal the song in fairness, It sounds more like a Dua song featuring JENNIE rather than the other way around but that's fine because she's such a star. I'm liking this R&B-tinged pop sound for Dua. I wouldn't mind hearing more like this on her next album. Best Part: Seeing them re-team 7 years after 'Kiss and Make Up'

This is quite an understated song which is maybe why it ended up being a grower for me. We all know that Ari can belt it out with the best of them when she wants to and, if this had been on one of her earlier albums, I think we would have got a demonstration of that. But she shows great restraint here, not going for the high notes, and letting the lyrics really sell the power of the song. It's an apt title for this song because if there was one adjective that I feel perfectly encapsulates the mood of the song it would be 'warm'. Like a musical embrace. And Ari knew what she was doing using the phrase 'hold the space' Best Part: The whole vibe of the song

Devastated that it’s not a full album but so excited that it’s released the day after my birthday and I’ll be off work to give it the attention it deserves.

Just missing out on the EOY top 40 is 'FXCK UP THE WORLD', the only one of the five singles from 'Alter Ego', going back to last year, to do so. The version of the main album features a guest verse from Future but it's actually the solo version that made my playlists. Future feels like he's phoning it in and I much prefer hearing an extra verse from LISA. I actually feel like I'm appreciating this one more now than I did at the time of its release. It's purposefully unclean and LISA's raps are pure mania. I can confirm that within the top 40, we will see BLACKPINK and a group and each member as a soloist, with one of them having two tracks still to come. Best Part: The absolute chaos of the ATL Jacob production

42. The Favors - The Little Mess You Made1st Single from 'The Dream' Release Date: 6th June 2025 Chart Run: 7-4-7-11-13-15-20 (7 weeks) Maybe second place is just the first to lose Official Peak: n/a Crownnote Points Chart: 57 (56/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: =56 (=55/100) Last.fm Chart: =36 (=32/100) The Favors's Chart History: 2025 04 The Little Mess You Made 2025 12 Home Sweet Home 2025 17 Someday I'll Be Back In Hollywood The Favors's EOY History: 2025 42 The Little Mess You Made The Favors are a super-group formed in 2025 that consists of two vocalists and very close friends, Ashe and FINNEAS (Billie EIlish's brother and producer) alongside Ricky Gourmet and David Marinelli. If you've followed my charts before you will know that I'm quite a big fan of Ashe so this team-up certainly left me intrigued. The whole album is pretty solid and well worth a listen but the lead single was expertly chosen as its the clear standout 'The Little Mess You Made'. I'm pretty shocked I've missed this out from my EOY top 40 because I love this track and feel like its going to hold up very well as the years go on. It starts off unassuming but by the time we get to them powering their vocals towards each other in the bridge, the hairs on the back of your neck are standing up. Proper rollercoaster of a song! FINNEAS and Ashe sound so good together that now, in retrospect, it now feels crazy that they waited this long to start a band. It might not have been my favourite song of the year but I may be inclined to say it's one of the best songs of the year. Best Part: The harmonies between the two lead singers

43. Janet Devlin - Red Flag4th Single from 'Emotional Rodeo' Release Date: 3rd October 2024 Chart Run: 2-2-4-7-13-14 (6 weeks) Every time that I look for a sign, I find reason to stay Official Peak: n/a Crownnote Points Chart: 36 (35/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: =38 (=38/100) Last.fm Chart: 105 (65/100) Janet Devlin's Chart History: 2025 02 Red Flag 2025 04 Emotional Rodeo 2025 09 Daddy 2025 13 Catfishin' 2025 04 Houston 2025 05 Candy 2025 17 Psycho Ex Janet Devlin's EOY History: 2025 43 Red Flag 2025 62 Houston 2025 72 Emotional Rodeo 2025 97 Candy She's definitely been the most frequent discussion point from my chart so far but this was my re-introduction to Janet in late 2024 and it won me over on first listen. I believe it was Boxing Day and I was in the car on the way home from watching the football and this was played on Radio 2. It's not overtly country like her other entries and it's instead a pretty traditional folky-ballad. I think most times I would have just passed me by because it is a bit MOR but there was just something, and I'm not sure what, that really drawn me in. It's a really sweet track and it's sung well. I haven't been keeping up with it at all but I think I remember seeing that this was entered to BJSC this year. No idea how it did but, if I like it, them I'm guessing not well. 😄 The second #2 hit to drop out this year and they've both been songs with multiple weeks at the peak. Best Part: The catchiness of the chorus's opening line

After initially thinking this wasn't one of her strongest, it's ended up getting stuck in my head constantly and becoming of her catchiest hits. This was released alongside 'ill' as the lead single (the modern equivalent of double-A side I suppose) and for the first week, I was expecting 'ill' to be the big-hit in my chart. That one felt a bit fresher and a new sound while this felt slightly derivate of her previous songs but, in the end, they're the reason I became a fan so that's kinda what I want from her. 🤣 Best Part: The karaoke-themed video that matches the vibe of the song

Quite low down for someone who was my third most-played artist in 2025 but it just further backs up my point that while the 'So Close To What' era is by far her strongest (and most productive with so many EOY hits), no one song has reached the absolute high-mark of her best singles. 'Purple lace bra' is the always relevant tale of women feeling voiceless and that (especially the media) value their femininity or sexuality over anything. It's, rightly, an often discussed topic (see America Ferrera's monologue in Barbie) but Tate avoids being saccharine and finds something fresh to say through some blunt analogies and by leaning into the sultry production so the song almost sounds like a Weeknd-esque sex-jam if you don't pay attention to the lyrics. But a good message doesn't necessarily make a song great and what elevates this is the great string-y production, some of Tate's catchiest melodies and one her best vocal performances. Best Part: Hearing a different side of Tate through a broader topic
