(RE) Labyrinth (40th Anniversary) - £320,994 Weeks: 1 (£320,994) Falling out: Wicked For Good (7 weeks) Back To The Past (1 week) Sentimental Value (2 weeks) Just as I predicted last week, ‘The Housemaid’ continues to be a smash hit by climbing to #1 in its third week with a 9% drop (3,523,229) being enough to de-throne ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ after 3 weeks atop. With a cumulative total of £17,881,582, it’s overtaken ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ (£17.6 million) to be Lionsgate’s second-biggest post-pandemic hit and it will have overtaken ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad Of Songbirds And Snakes’ (£18.2 million) by next weekend to top the list. It’s also only £300k away from overtaking ‘Last Christmas’ to be Paul Feig’s second-biggest hit and ‘Bridesmaids’ (£23 million) looks like it will inevitably fall too. Such an amazing turn-around for both director and star, Sydney Sweeney. Whisper it, but could £30 million and #7 in the EOY chart for 2025 be on the cards? At the very least, we will end the year without a Marvel film being in the top 10 as current #10, ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ (£24 million) will more than likely be overtaken. What I didn’t expect last week for for ‘Avatar’ not even to be #2 as awards front-runner ‘Hamnet’ debuts in that spot instead with £3,248,940 (£3 million without previews). Chloé Zhao previously directed ‘Nomadland’ (£874,785, #2, 2021) to Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress success at the 2021 Oscars and, impressively, this film has opened higher than the figure with which that film closed (£2.2 million). This is a contender to pick up some of those awards too with Irish duo Paul Mescal and, particularly, Jessie Buckley picking up a lot of buzz for their portrayals of William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway respectively. It’s the biggest opening for Buckley while it trails only ‘Gladiator II’ (£9,100,897, #1, 2024) for Mescal. For Zhao, it’s behind her oft-forgotten MCU flick ‘Eternals’ (£5,456,577, #1, 2021) which closed with £14.9 million and, who knows, a successful awards season and this could even top that. The other new entry this week is ‘Giant’ (#9, £370,665). This is a boxing biopic about featherweight World Champion Prince Naseem and his coach Brendan Ingle, played by Pierce Brosnan. Sylvester Stallone is amongst the producers but I don’t think this is the new Rocky challenger. It does through compare favourable to the last Boxing biopic to hit screens, Syndey Sweeney’s ‘Christy’ (£54,360, #17) from November. We do also see a re-entry on its 40th anniversary for ‘Labyrinth’ (£320,994, #10). ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ drops to #3 after a 41% drop. At £37.5 million, it’s a long way off the £57.3 million which ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ had after four weekends and it’s now very safe to say that the biggest release of 2025 in the UK was ‘A Minecraft Movie’. This could still catch ‘Wicked: For Good’ but its dreams of being the EOY #1 look to be dead. Continuing to impress is ‘Marty Supreme’ that drops 26% to add another £2 million and end the weekend just short of £10 million. Absolutely insane result for this film and it looks like it might end its run as one of the 20 biggest films of 2025. Who would have predicted that? Stil climbing up that chart is ‘Zootropolis 2’ which holds in the top 5 for a seventh week after a 41% drop sees it add another £1.2 million. Despite a slower start, it has now smashed 2024’s holiday season aminated hit ‘Sonic The Hedgehog 3’ that closed with £26.4 million. Kate Hudson bagged a surprise SAG nom for ‘Song Sung Blue’ last week and it’s helped the film drop 53% (only 39% without previews) in weekend 2. With £1.9 million, it’s already director Craig Brewer’s biggest hit after ‘Footloose’ (£460,271, #6, 2011) which closed to £1.5 million. ‘Anaconda’ drops 46% and is at an alright £4.8 million while ‘The SpongeBob Movie: The Search For SquarePants’ drops 48% and is just short of £7 million. There are two further new entry in the #11-15 section: ‘The Raja Saab’ (#11) and ‘I Puritani: Met Opera 2026’ (#14). Next week sees the openings of ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’, ‘Rental Family’, ‘Parasakthi’, ‘The Voice Of Hind Rajab’ and 'Miss Moxy’. We also get re-releases of ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring’, ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers’ and ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King’. Can any of them top the charts?

When she released the final two deluxe tracks, I thought she'd already secured enough of my EOY positions and there's no way she could release even more flat-out bangers in the same year but here we are with this landing 46th! She has put something into this song because that chorus is addictive and (say it with me) a banger of a bridge! I enjoyed singing along to that one on tour. What a year she's had in my charts tough, she has a LOT of pressure to live up to it now when her debut album is eventually released. It feels like an impossible task. 🤣 Best Part: The whispered 'I like your Adam's apple'

That's the full-blown vocal attack that we know and love and has been missing from the last couple of albums. And to make this vocals hit even more, we have the strings and bass selling the drama of Ari's performance. With a couple of tweaks, I could see this fitting right in with the Dangerous Woman era which (depending on the day) is maybe my favourite Ari album (but also maybe TUN or My Everything ) The people (me) NEED this one on the tour this year please Ari! Best Part: Hearing Ari properly belting out some vocals again

Tems) Very nice of Dave to drop the video just in time for its entry here. A rare ultra-commercial track from Dave's latest LP, there's no shock that 'Raindance' has been the single and massive hit from the album. I'm usually more onboard with the rap-ier tracks from Dave rather than his R&B-tinged work but this one is something special. Tems sounds heavenly on her verse and chorus while Dave really elevates what could have been a MOR track with added layers, such as the Ol' Dirty bast*rd sampling outro and the interpolating of classic Wayne, Drake and Dem Franchize Boyz lyrics. Tems singing 'I love you' is potentially the best second of music all year. And having just watched the video for the first time, has anyone managed to nail the vibe of a song in the video as much as Dave has with this and 'Chapter 16' in recent times? Best Part: Tems's post-chorus

'House Tour' has managed respectable chart positions worldwide but, just like with 'Juno' from 'Short n Sweet' it feels like the Espresso-sized smash that got away. This song is just joy and is a perfect example of the sense of fun that Sabrina has re-accentuated into the pop genre in recent years. It's very much Man's Best Friend's 'Nonsense' where its completely unserious and, despite her promises of the contrary, just an excuse for Sabrina to list of any many double-entendres (this time with a property focus) as she can possibly can. I think there was some backlash to this album overall, with suggestions it may be verging on self-parody and a repeat of her earlier work, but I don't think I'd ever get tired of this type of pure joyous pop. Best Part: "Take your shoes off"

This was the first song of hers I ever heard back on 4th January last year which kickstarted the new obsession. I do think this is sonically very similar to another song that has recently appeared, Gracie Abrams's 'Risk', so its no surprise to see that both songs credit the same co-writer, Audrey Hobert. Someone else who is finding success with her own music. It's another track that includes a banger bridge. The cheat code to appearing in my EOY list it seems. 51. Kylie Cantrall - Goodie Bag2nd Single from 'B.O.Y.' Release Date: 14th February 2025 Chart Run: 20-(x10)-7-7-9-12-8-11 (7 weeks) I'm like a billboard for Yves Saint-Laurent Official Peak: n/a Crownnote Points Chart: 60 (59/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: =51 (=50/100) Last.fm Chart: =85 (58/100) Kylie Cantrall's Chart History: 2025 07 Goodie Bag 2025 03 Denim 2025 06 See U Tonight (feat. ILLIT) 2025 14 Boy is Yours 2025 16 99 2025 20 Oversized Kylie Cantrall's EOY History: 2025 51 Goodie Bag 2025 71 See U Tonight (feat. ILLIT) My introduction to Kylie Cantrall, 'Goodie Bag' had one week at #20 and then disappeared for a couple months. However, then 'Denim' properly broke-out for me and the 'B.O.Y.' EP turned out to be fun, this made a re-appearance and stuck around well. This is a cute R&B-Pop hybrid that feels quite fresh compared to the current trends. One thing I really like about this is that it feels authentic. In the same vein to why I think Olivia Rodrigo post-Disney music was so popular, this feels lyrically like what a 19-year old would write. I'm really excited to see where she goes from here because I think she has lots of potential. Best Part: The fun music video

52. Lorde - What Was That1st Single from 'Virgin' Release Date: 24th April 2025 Chart Run: 5-4-10-11-15-15-17 (7 weeks) Since I was seventeen, I gave you everything Official Peak: 11 Crownnote Points Chart: 56 (55/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: =56 (=55/100) Last.fm Chart: =55 (=44/100) Lorde's Chart History: 2017 01 Green Light 2021 12 Solar Power 2025 04 What Was That 2025 10 Favourite Daughter Lorde's EOY History: 2017 74 Green Light 2021 100 Solar Power 2025 52 What Was That I think I've done Lorde a bit dirty in this chart as 'Favourite Daughter' deserved a top #100 placement and this should really be in the top 50. I've always enjoyed the odd single here and there from Lorde but it wasn't until 'Virgin' until I've really loved a whole album and it was definitely the lead single 'What Was That' which got me on board instantly. I've found this to be one of the catchiest songs of the year with the chorus sticking with me from that first listen. There's just a great energy to this song where it feels so kinetic and without any lulls. The album inspired me to get a ticket to see Lorde in November and this and 'Green Light' were such massive highlights. The energy for both was insane. Best Part: The rhyme scheme on the second verse

MFnMelo) No ID's EOY History: 2025 53 Woes of The World (Saba & No ID) The first of two songs from my second-favourite album of 2025, 'Woes of The World' was the final single leading into the long-awaited release of the album and managed a couple of weeks in my chart before dropping out. But it was brought back with a vengeance when the album did release to reach my top #5. No ID's production is immaculate throughout the whole album and Saba is on top of his game with fiendish flows and top-notch wordplay. The hook here is definitely one of the most memorable and the verses are both insanely good. 2025 was not a strong year for Rap overall but at least we got this album that is as good as anything else released so far this decade. Best Part: The rhyme scheme on the second verse

54. Gracie Abrams - Risk1st Single from 'The Secret of Us' Release Date: 1st May 2024 Chart Run: 5-7-10-16-17 (5 weeks) God, I'm jumping in the deep end, it's more fun to swim in Official Peak: 67 Crownnote Points Chart: 83 (79/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: 80 (78/100) Last.fm Chart: =29 (=26/100) Gracie Abrams's Chart History: 2025 09 Call Me When You Break Up (Selena Gomez, benny blanco & Gracie Abrams) 2025 01 Close To You 2025 05 Risk 2025 17 That's So True 2025 11 Death Wish Gracie Abram's EOY History: 2025 54 Risk 2025 92 Call Me When You Break Up (Selena Gomez, benny blanco & Gracie Abrams) Like most people on this website, this time last year, I did not get Gracie Abrams. But I got a chance to attend her concert last year and thought I'd give her music some spins beforehand and she really won me over. 'Risk' was the lead single to the album and is the oldest song in this list, originally being released in May 2024. There's a lot of ballads in her discography but this one is so upbeat and really nails the nervy-excitement of a crush and getting far too ahead of yourself. This has lost none of its impact for me despite frequent listens and I still get swept away with the strings and guitar strums. Gracie really impressed me at the concert too; she sounded good, she was able to make an arena feel quite intimate and her interaction with the crowd was really sweet. Best Part: Shouting 'TOO SOON TO TELL YOU I LOVE YOU'

Stormzy has been one of the biggest British artists of the last 10 years but it looks like his run is definitely over as this solid comeback single made no impact and didn't even come close to reaching the UK Official Chart. Split into two parts, 'SORRY RACH!' feels a lot like more like the style that made Stormzy first popular compared to the R&B focus on 'This Is What I Mean'. There's a sense of urgency and that Stormzy has something to prove here and he attacks the messy production with the smooth style we're used to but also with some hints of anger. There's beat-switches galore, radio presenter interludes and as many different flows that can be packed into 4 minutes. Not since 'Mel Made Me Do It' has Stormzy sounded so motivation to through everything he has into a song. Best Part: The final beat-switch

I think the album cover was probably the weakest part of this era for Tate so I would have liked to see the tour poster used instead too! Thanks both

Hi James My favourite so far is 'Glitch'. The album was really good overall and I saw JADE on tour last year and she was amazing! Excited to see what else is to come

TIT FOR TAT and All Over Me are my faves from your most recent section. The HAIM album was really solid overall! Great chart so far

Hi Joseph 'bandaids' was a much better effort from Katy than her album last year. Shame it never really caught on. Loving all three of the Sabrina tracks. Shame to see they've landed so low for you. 'Manchild' in particular will be a LOT higher for me! I wasn't sure if you'd like 'TIT FOT TAT' because I know you're a big Kid LAROI fan 🤣 'Mature' was one of my biggest surprises in 2025. I wasn't too familiar with Hilary's older music but I think this is an amazing song and I'll be checking the new album put when it releases. Call Me When You Break Up is pretty fun but it's too short to be one of Selena's best. I'm very happy to see Maren Morris appear too. I hope she has more to come Great chart so far

Hi Pete I decided to check out the Fray and Reverend and the Makers tracks because they both released songs I loved growing up. The first thing I noticed about The Fray track is it's a different vocalist. It really gives them a different vibe to the 'How to Save a Life' days. It sounds pretty nice. 'UFO' is pretty wacky. A lot more whimsical than I was expecting. They always remind me of peak 'Soccer AM' days but this song isn't that vibe at all 🤣 Excited to find out what else is to come

Hi Snap at having 'Man's Best Friend' at the album of the year, brilliant choice! Yay for Alessi Rose doing well here too. 'Bittersweet' is a great choice for your top songs list. From your top 10 songs, the two Sabrina and Ariana tracks are definitely my favourites. Great charts

I definitely agree about 'The Life of a Showgirl'! I'm happy to see some love for BITE ME too! Thanks

This was such a fierce way to open an album and sets up you up perfectly for what's to come. I like the vocal effects on the post-chorus. It makes it feel like it's a sample when it's actually Tate's vocals. It's one of my top 20 most played tracks of 2025 and #56 is probably a bit lower than it deserves. Best Part: The intro from Sydney Sweeney

Released as the single from the deluxe version of 'Short n' Sweet' after originally only appearing on some physical versions of the album, this was another big hit early last year. Initially looking like a flash-in-a-pan in my chart, it managed to re-enter for a single week at #1 after I saw her on the tour. I had a VIP ticket so I was VERY close to the stage and had such a wonderful night. This is fun but there's a reason why it was only a deluxe track and it wouldn't have been close to being a #1 without the great timing of the tour. Best Part: The vocoder vocals on the bridge

58. Definitely the horniest moment on the album, it takes a lot to stand-out in the sub-genre of horny pop at the moment with Sabrina bringing it to the mainstream and even Taylor Swift getting in on the action. It would be easy to think we've heard it all before but Reneé breaks through the crowd with one of the most iconic lines of 2025: "I think we almost made a baby. I mean, we can't, but we came so close". Paired with an earworm chorus and you've got a top-notch album track to add to the 'should have been a single' debates. Best Part: The stand-out 'baby' line

59. Megan Moroney - 6 Months Later1st Single from 'Cloud 9' Release Date: 20th June 2025 Chart Run: 6-7-11-12-12-16 (6 weeks) What doesn't kill you calls you six months later Official Peak: n/a Crownnote Points Chart: 68 (67/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: =66 (=65/100) Last.fm Chart: =115 (71/100) Megan Moroney's Chart History: 2025 03 Am I Okay? 2025 14 Indifferent 2025 10 Man on the Moon 2025 18 Hope You're Happy 2025 06 6 Months Later 2025 19 Who's Your Daddy? Megan Moroney's EOY History: 2025 59 6 Months Later Megan Moroney was one of the big discoveries for me last year and with how much I listened to her album, she probably is a bit under-represented here but '6 Months Later' is her debut entry into my EOY charts and will serve as the lead-single to her third-album, 'Cloud 9', which is set to release next month. She announced the track-list yesterday and there's a Kacey Musgraves feature which has instantly became one of my most highly anticipated releases. This would be a great introduction to her in general with it being slightly more pop than her usual releases but retains a huge-slice of her country roots. I love how her voice always comes through in her lyricism with an ''Office' reference ('How the turns have tabled') and her jumping on the recent trend of artists dropping their own name in their songs ("Hey Meg, I think I want you back"). All this just adds to the fun and makes this a pretty addictive summer smash. Best Part: The way she sings 'Put a hole in my heart, watched it bleed'

When the collab was first announced, I think people we're expecting something else, more commercial sounding but instead it's the song that takes the theme of the album the most literally with an old Hollywood aesthetic and story of a retro chorus-girl. Certainly, one of the most 'theatre kid' sounding songs of the year! I do think this sound fits Sabrina more than it does Taylor and she definitely has the stand-out verse and has seven more songs to come. Best Part: The outro with audio from the Eras Tour
