  1. 75. YEJI - Air1st Single from 'AIR' Release Date: 3rd October 2025 Chart Run: 9-7-11-15-15-18 (6 weeks) I'm gonna take a chance, give up all the plans Official Peak: n/a Crownnote Points Chart: 74 (71/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: =75 (=73/100) Last.fm Chart: =106 (=66/100) YEJI's Chart History: 2024 08 Crown On My Head 2025 07 Air YEJI's EOY History: 2024 94 Crown On My Head 2025 75 Air I said that ITZY had been beaten by a solo-track this year and it was YEJI who released her debut EP 'AIR' which spawned the single of the same name. All five members had their own solo track on their 'BORN TO BE' album last year and YEJI's ('Crown On My Head') was the lowest-charting of them in my EOY chart (#94) but she's the only member to have a solo release this year and it's a stronger track. There's some really fun synths on the production and YEJI puts in a confident, star-making performance. She's never been a stand-out member of ITZY for me but she really stepped up here and completely kills it. Best Part: The insanely fun drum-break at the start of the first chorus
  2. Hi My 2026 hasn't been too bad so far thanks. I hope yours has started good too! Two very different album picks there indeed. There's one entry from each in my top 100 to look forward to. Very nice choices for Dave #1s there. 'The Boy Who Played the Harp' is such a well-polished track. Thanks 🙂

(09) Sentimental Value - £182,436 (-28%) Weeks: 2 (£606,416) Falling out: Dhurandhar (4 weeks) Sarvam Maya (1 week) Happy new year everyone! 2026 has started where 2025 left off with ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ celebrating its third week at #1 with a 27% drop that sees it add another £4.4 million and pass £30 million to climb up to #6 in the 2025 releases chart. It’s been way off the pace of 2022’s ‘The Way Of Water’ (£44,971,330 at this stage) for a while but it’s now also running-behind the pace of the 2009 original that had £32,815,618 as it climbed back to #1 for its second week out of eight. The second film had seven consecutive weeks at top spot but I’m not fully convinced that this one will manage four. And that’s because ‘The Housemaid’ is defying expectations to push it close with a 13% drop (actually a 26% increase if you take out previews) seeing it add £3.9 million to already pass £12 million after two weekends of play. Sydney Sweeney is no stranger to the Boxing-Day-release-turned-early-January-smash playbook after ‘Anyone But You’ showed amazing holds to close 10x it’s opening weekend in 2023/2024. But, despite being a huge success, that film grossed £11.5 million in total, a figure that ‘The Housemaid’ has already sailed past. I said last week that the £23 million gross of ‘Bridesmaids’ wast too high a target but it’s now already Paul Feig’s third-biggest hit and I don’t have the same conviction in my previous claim. It has really caught on and I could see it being next week’s top earner. I would usually have talked about the new entries by now but I think this week is one where the top three is the biggest story and demands to be discussed first. Last week’s ‘limited’ release was historic for ‘Marty Supreme’ and it’s first week in wide-release wasn’t half bad either. Increasing 98% in business, Josh Safdie’s table-tennis drama is already at £6 million and ahead of where Timothée Chalamet’s big Oscar contender from last year ‘A Complete Unknown’ was at this stage (£5,916,730) despite the Bob Dylan-name factor and its more traditional release strategy. I have no idea how to predict where this one will end up, if it can ride the wave of awards season and continue to keep the hype, it could be something incredibly special. Despite the 2025 films dominating, we do have our first two hit films for 2026; the highest of which being ‘Song Sung Blue’ at #7 (£936,255, £708k without previews). An awards outsider, this is an adaptation of the little-seen 2008 documentary of the same name and sees Kate Hudson and Hugh Jacksman star as a couple who perform as a Neil Diamond tribute act and have a tumultuous life-story. This has been pegged as a bit of a crowd-pleaser and initial reactions seems to be positive so don’t be surprised if this sticks around. The final new entry this week is ‘Back To The Past’ (251,826, £165k without previews, #9). Not a meta-remake of the classic Michael J. Fox film but instead a Chinese sci-fi which is a sequel to the 2001 ‘A Step Into The Past’ TV show. It’s not quite ‘Ne Zha 2’ but still a decent showing for a Chinese film in the UK market. The other boxing day films that haven’t already been mentioned all register drops: ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants’ drops to #6 with a 61% drop in business. However, I mentioned last week that it had massive previews and this hold is actually a lot better than I expected. Without previews, it actually increased 11% and is pennies short of £6 million. In a week where I have to retract everything I said last week, I claimed this wouldn’t hit the £8 million to be the biggest SpongeBob movie in the UK. I was wrong! It’s already above the original and the second one is well in its sights. ‘Anaconda’ drops 24% and is having a solid, under-the-radar performance. It’s already at £3.9 million when the original couldn’t even hit £2 million. ‘Sentimental Value’ officially drops 28% when you include previews but increases 55% on pure weekend gross thanks to it expanding wider this week. It’s at £600k and will be looking to at least double that with awards buzz incoming. ‘Zootropolis 2’ continues its world domination, increasing 34% on weekend 6 and officially beating the £24 million gross of the original film. ‘Wicked: For Good’ shreds 25% but also hits a big milestone this weekend. At £46.5 million, it has officially climbed above ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy’ to rank as the #2 film of 2025. The only question now is whether ‘Avatar’ will knock it back to third or will it fall off a cliff. There is one further new entry in the #11-15 section: ‘Peter Hujar’s Day’ (#14). However, we also see a re-entry for ‘Happy Feet’ (#13). Next week sees the openings of ‘Hamnet’, ‘Giant’, ‘The Raja Saab’ and ‘Becoming Victoria Wood’. We also get a re-release for ‘Labyrinth’. Can any of them top the charts?
  4. I love the AFCON and I've only missed a handful of games so far. Nigeria and Cameroon are the teams that are coming out of the tournament with the biggest boosts in public opinion so far. It's making me even more disappointed that Nigeria won't be at the World Cup. With everyone fit, I think they have the best squad in Africa and it looks like they're finally finding form just in time to sit on the sofa and watch the tournament from home. I hope we don't get deprived from seeing Oshimen ever playing at a World Cup
  5. Hi Juranmo A lot of great stuff so far. My absolute favourite being 'JUMP'. It was such a highlight from seeing BLACKPINK live in the summer. So good that they reprised it for the end of the show! I'm loving the double Reneé Rapp. She had a brilliant year and I was so happy she bagged a UK #1 album in the process. The tracks from your top 200 I'd like to shout-out are 'twilight zone', 'APT.' the two Sabrina tracks, all the JADE and 'Get Around'. Excited to see what else is to come! 🙂
  6. Hi Jade I'm very happy to see Madison Beer here. I've been on board with her for quite a while not waiting for her to properly breakthrough. There's been a few false starts where it looked like it might happen but unfortuantly she remains underrated so far. Massive hype for the album next week. I've obviously got to mention Ari as well 🤣 I'm a rare dissenting voice that thinks 'Wicked: For Good' was better than the original. Although, I do concede that the songs aren't to the same level overall. 'Timeless' won me over despite my usual aversion to Carti and 'Ring Ring Ring' was my highlight from a Tyler album that I found to be one of my biggest disappointments of the year. Excited to see what else is to come 🙂
  7. Hi Sergej 'Opalite' is my favourite from your recent sections. It feels like the obvious choice for the next single and I'm excited to see the music video if we get one. Great chart so far 🙂

As one of the stand-out opening three tracks that trick you into thinking that you're listening to an all-timer album, it was no surprise that it also became one of the tracks that took up Taylor's spots in the official UK top 3 on release week. Is it a tad over-written? Maybe but that's usually part of Taylor's charm as a song-writer (I'll take it over the tone deaf nature to the lyrics of 'CANCELLED!' and 'Actually Romantic') and it certainly doesn't negate how epic that chorus sounds every time it comes in when you have headphones on. Best Part: The epic transition into the chorus
  9. 77. JISOO - Hugs & KissesAlbum Track from 'AMORTAGE' Release Date: 14th February 2025 Chart Run: 6-6-7-8 (4 weeks) Call her a friend while you've been calling me crazy Official Peak: n/a Crownnote Points Chart: 92 (85/100) End-Of-Year Points Chart: 70 (69/100) Last.fm Chart: 34 (31/100) JISOO's Chart History: 2023 01 FLOWER 2023 01 All Eyes On Me 2025 01 earthquake 2025 03 Your Love 2025 06 Hugs & Kisses 2025 10 TEARS 2025 04 EYES CLOSED (JISOO & ZAYN) JISOO's EOY History: 2023 06 FLOWER 2023 08 All Eyes On Me 2025 77 Hugs & Kisses 2025 94 EYES CLOSED (JISOO & ZAYN) With ROSÉ being a native speaker and JENNIE and LISA being pretty much fluent, it's been well-reported that JISOO has been self-conscience with her English skills and it's incredibly rare to hear her speak it any interviews. And, especially on earlier BLACKPINK songs, you can hear her unfamiliarity when she had to sign the odd-phrase. But, she's obviously been working hard on it and challenged herself with two of the songs on this EP being practically fully in English and I just wanted to say how brilliant she nails it, particularly on this track. Her pronunciation is near-perfect and you'd never know that it had been an issue for her before. I realise I haven't said much about this actual song but as someone who can't speak a second language, I can't imagine how difficult it must be to record a whole EP in a language other than your first, especially when learning it as an adult, so I want to give her as much praise as possible. The song is itself is really fun with an instantly memorable chorus and (in my theme of the year) a really fun bridge. As you can see above, this landed way higher in my post-played list but we've waited so long for a whole EP from JISOO so you can't blame me for spamming it like crazy. Now, we just need an album now please JISOO. Best Part: JISOO's confidently killing her English pronunciations
  10. 78. Last.fm tells me that it's actually the 1 year anniversary today since I first heard this song and I'm still not bored of it yet. Alessi wrote this while embarking on her first tour and is about the overwhelming emotions she felt of achieving her dreams but still feeling a sense of imposter syndrome. With it being an ode to live shows, there's no surprise that this has been a bit of a crowd favourite on each of the three occasions I've seen her live. Although I do love her pure-pop moments, I do think she kills this slightly more alt-pop sound. Best Part: The rousing, lovely chorus

I've read that this was originally intended to be a track on 'Snow Angel' but I think it fits the attitude of 'BITE ME' more. It doesn't feel like you'd need to do much work to adapt this to instead be a Sabrina Carpenter smash-single. The top YouTube comment says this is Regina George coded and I can't help but agree. Best Part: The cameo her IRL girlfriend in the second verse

However, that run is over this year as 'ROCK & ROLL' is their only entry in this list after reaching #4 in my weekly chart. They left this one late with it only releasing in October. This is the second time one of their Japanese singles has made my EOY chart after 'Voltage' (#100) in 2022. They actually released a Korean EP only one month later (as well as another earlier in the year) but they were both rare releases by them that didn't click with me. 'ROCK & ROLL' isn't a highlight in their discography or anything but it's more traditionally their sound compared to the quite experimental Korean releases his year and I think it suits them more. I love that they all get a chance to shine on this one too which isn't always the case on their bigger songs. They are actually out-charted by a solo-member track this year. Best Part: Becoming their first EOY hit in my charts since LIA returned from hiatus

Terrible time to be promoting Royel Otis when they’ve been making some less-than-pleasant headlines in the past couple of days.

This one has landed lower than it's chart run would suggest but I feel like this one was charting more on name and being her comeback song rather than the quality of the song and when the songs from the new album came out, they shown how average this one really is. Not that it's bad, it just a bit lite compared to her usual stuff. It still keeps the same production style and was a good addition for the film to add to its soundtrack. Best Part: The vocal effect on her voice in the chorus

Clipse & Kenny G) 2025 82 Ace Trumpets One of the biggest music stories in 2025 was the return of brothers Pusha T and Malice with their fourth studio-album as Clipse 'Let Got Sort Em Out'. The highlight was the lead single 'Ace Trumpets'. Despite Pusha kicking off with one of the cringiest lines of the year ("Yellow diamonds look like pee-pee"), the rest of the song is immaculate, first-class Hip-Hop. Malice has my favourite verse of the year. It's a deceivingly simple rhyme-scheme that he keeps through the whole verse but he fills it with enough quotables that it almost feels like a chorus with how easy it is to rap-along-to. Best Part: The flow of Malice in his verse

I didn't have high expectations for this turn but it actually really works. Everything about this release is just cute, especially the visualiser video that shows a montage of Dove's favourite moments of last summer. There has been a slightly cynical tone in a lot of pop music really (which I do enjoy) so it's sometimes nice to have something that is just really comfortably positive. The one thing I would question is why Dove thinks Tony Soprano is a romantic character to compare her boyfriend to. Best Part: The simply sweet vibe

It's nothing we haven't heard from Hus before, he borrows some lyrics from his older songs (his 'Dailly Duppy' in particular) but he sounds so good on this time for Afrobeat track and there's not many refrains I've found myself singing along to more than 'Every ring I'm wearing is gold, they're calling me Gaddafi'. That's the sort of line that only Hus can make sound like it belongs in a radio hit. With the Skepta collab released at the end of the year and the long-awaiting return of JAE5 on production, he's starting to win me over with hype again for a new album. Best Part: The annoyingly catchy hook

A response to her ex-boyfriend releasing a 'break-up' song. this was written, recorded and released within three weeks while Tate was on her 'Miss Possessive' world tour. To quote Maisie Peters, I think it's clear who 'won the breakup' as this was a worldwide smash while I doubt many people could even name the Kid LAROI track. I love how direct this track is; most artists would to slightly vague in these type of tracks to give a sense of plausible deniability if asked about in interviews but there's nothing ambiguous here. Best Part: The unapologetically direct lyrics

A #2 official hit, this is the biggest song to appear on the list so far so it's no surprise to see the king of pop, Max Martin in the production credits. There's nothing too flashy here. It's just a well-written, well-produced, happy-sounding pop track. It's kinda what I was expecting the album to sound like when I heard she was going back to Max. It's no surprise that this is widely-regarded as one of the high points of the album. Best Part: The strong percussive beat that hits throughout the song

This was originally my favourite of the new tracks from the deluxe version of 'Short n' Sweet' we received last February. A play on the famous saying '15 minutes of fame' as well as the 15 minutes of new music added onto the deluxe of the album, the track continues Sabrina's trend of fitting in as many witty innuendoes as she can into each track. Sabrina has really brought the fun back into pop in the past couple of years and her voice is exactly what the genre needed. Best Part: The 'I can' and 'Sure Can' adlibs in the second chorus

This is the first of 12 entries for her in my top 100 which is a new record after Ariana Grande had 11 in 2019 and Maisie Peters also had 11 in 2023. Not bad for someone making their debut, hey? I'll try and keep this one short and sweet because trying to find 12 different things to say about someone, no matter how big of a fan of them I am, is quite difficult. I think she has a great ability for knowing a good melody and writing a catchy hook for it and 'Take It or Leave It' is no exception. As you can see above the whole EP is within my top 25 played songs of the year so this is only really being ranked this low to avoid her dominating the top of my chart too much. Best Part: Learning the context of the title of the EP
