However, bagging a second week atop the chart is ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ which drops just 33% in week two to add another £6 million and pass £20 million in total. Its interesting to compare this to the second weekend of ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ because the 3-day gross is higher for this (£6,062,546 vs £4,974,004) however it’s still £5 million off the pace of the total gross at the same time (£25,034,122). This was because the second weekend of ‘The Way Of Water’ included Christmas Day, where the box office is notoriously pretty much nil, as one of it’s three days while this had the advantage of including Boxing Day (one of the best box office days) as it’s Friday. After two weekends, ‘Wicked: For Good’ had £32.1 million so this is still a slow start in term of modern blockbusters but we know with the ‘Avatar’ films that it’s all about the legs so we still cannot go writing this one off. The biggest winner of the five new entries is ‘The Housemaid’ which debuts at #2 with £4,423,435 (£3.1 million without previews). If anyone needed a hit it was Sydney Sweeney who’s already had a string of flops this year and whose stock has dipped massively after her hugely controversial jeans advert (and rumours of dating Scooter Braun ) and she’s got one. Coming from director Paul Feig, this is an adaptation of the popular Freida McFadden novel of the same name and gives him his biggest ever opening weekend on his return to theatrical releases. It wants to becoming his biggest hit overall, it would need to beat the £23 million gross of ‘Bridesmaids’. This feels like it may be out of reach but the £18.1 million of ‘Last Christmas’ is an outside shot if it has great legs. Benefiting from a preview-heavy release that sees it’ opening weekend include a full 7-days of previews, ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants’ opens at #3 (£3,040,335, £1.1 million without previews). With the third film (‘Sponge On The Run’) skipping cinemas in the UK entirely thanks to the pandemic, this is officially the best opening for a SpongeBob release, beating the £2.3 million opening of ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water (#3, 2015) and the £1.3 million opening of ‘The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie’ (#4, 2005) however the release strategies make them hard to truly compare. The glass ceiling for the series so far is £8 million and I don’t see this one having enough in the tank to reach that. The percentage drop for this next week is going to be massive! Opening at #5, the real winner of this week’s box office is ‘Marty Supreme’ (£1,388,196). I don’t usually comment on theatre-averages but they really need to be mentioned this week. ‘Marty Supreme’ hasn’t had a full release this week and it’s going much wider next weekend, however, in the cinemas it has opened in, it has made an average of £10,438. This is the 11th best per-theatre average of the year but the top 10 include films with incredibly limited openings and incredibly-wide openings in the largest cinemas. Of wide releases (100-250 cinemas), this is the by far the best average of the year. In fact, (thanks to Box Office Theory for this fact), it’s the best average for a wide-release since ’12 Years A Slave’ made £12.1k per theatre in 2014. Timothée Chalamet is going all out for that Oscar and his largely unorthodox promotional campaign (viral fashion brand, weird TikToks, the EsDeeKid collab!) has worked wonders. If this can continue the momentum when it goes wider next week, then this is going to be massive and will have to be considered a frontrunner for awards season. Getting a little lost in the crowd but still managing a respectful debut is ‘Anaconda’ (£1,274,699, #6). A meta reboot of the 1997 cult-classic, this sees Jack Black and Paul Rudd star as two film-makers who look to reboot the original film but accidentally get mixed-up with a real monster snake. Sony are usually good at giving these types of films the right budget and have given this a moderate $45 million budget which gives it a real chance of profitability in my eyes. It’s got okay-ish reviews but it’s great to see this type of comedy still reach cinemas. It feels like this has become a streaming-type film in recent years so I hope it can become a hit for Sony. Another of the big Oscar contenders ‘Sentimental Value’ gets its start at #9 (£251,054). The re-teaming of director Joachim Trier and star Renate Reinsve after their other awards-botherer ‘The Worst Person In The World’ (£193,493, #7, 2022), this sees Reinsve as an actor who turns down a role by her estranged director father but gets jealous of the younger star taking her place. Their last hit fell just short of £1 million but with this being looking set for awards success, I can see this making that at a minimum. The final new entry this week is Indian horror-comedy ‘Sarvam Maya’ (£168,791, #10). It stars Nivin Pauly as a Hindi-priest who is visited by ghosts (how Ebenezer Scrooge). As I suggested last week, the holiday season has been kind to ‘Zootropolis 2’ that lands at #4 this week after an 18% drop giving it an additional £1.6 million. After 5 weekends, it is now within the top 10 films of the year with £22.5 million. It is now finally tracking above ‘Zootopia’ at the same stage which had £21,572,159. ‘Wicked: For Good’ has another alright weekend (-26%). If it wasn’t for the insane run of the first film last year, we would be hailing this as a huge hit. It’s still ticking slowly towards ‘Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy’ to be the #2 hit of the year. The final holder in the top 10 is ‘Dhurandhar’ which has another great weekend (-34%) as it hits £2.5 million. A great result for an Indian film. There are two further new-entries in the #11-15 section: ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’ (#12) and ‘#RunSeokjin EP.Tour: The Movie’ (#14). Next week sees the openings of ‘Song Sung Blue’, ‘Peter Hujar's Day’, ‘Ikkis’, ‘No Time For Goodbye’ and ‘Back To The Past’. We also get re-releases of ‘Happy Feet’ and ‘Blue Velvet’. Can any of them top the charts? ~ Paul Feig Openings: Grounded: Unaccompanied Minors (£240,378, #9, 2006) Bridesmaids (£3,445,395, #1, 2011) The Heat (£2,500,522, #2, 2013) Spy (£2,557,824, #1, 2015) Ghostbusters (£4,388,944, #1, 2016) A Simple Favour (£1,621,900, #2, 2018) Last Christmas (£2,654,354, #1, 2019) The Housemaid (£4,423,435, #2, 2025)

His three appearances in my chart are despite his presence and I was not excited when this collaboration first dropped. And this did nothing for me for the longest time but there's something about the chorus that stuck with me and I'd find it often playing in my head. You do have to sit through a LONG Carti verse before we get to the good stuff but even that part isn't is bad as his usual stuff. There's a lot of rumours that his part was AI and, if that's the case, then it's the first (and probably only) positive advertisement for its use in music! 106. RAYE - WHERE IS MY HUSBAND! It's undeniably sounds massive; the retro elements work well but paired with a pulsating modern energy that makes it sound incredibly fresh. I'm sorry I couldn't find any space for it in my top 100. We are definitely at a point where everything deserved a place in there. I have 5 more tracks to announce tomorrow before the proper action kicks-off on new year's day.

Tems) 2025 12 No Weapons (feat. Jim Legxacy) Dave's third album is another brilliant edition to his catalogue, but it lacked the more commercial singles that helped his first two albums become huge. The whole album feels like one complete piece of art instead of something where you listen to tracks individually and that has effected it's performance in my chart where this is one of only two times he will appear. This is the closing track of the album and caused headlines for being the one that samples The Beatles. In terms of technical ability, I think this might be what I would put forward as Dave's strongest track. The way he glides through the song with such thrust is outstanding and he makes it sound so easy. But, thankfully, as you'd expect with Dave, he doesn't skimp on the lyrical side either with this being a thoughtful reflection on his own standing in the world and how he can impact on the bigger issues facing the world. It perfectly encapsulates the whole album. Throughout the runtime, Dave constantly asks a lot of questions without giving answers and, while he might not answer everything here, you leave it feeling like you understand his beliefs and the message he wants to convey. I don't think there's been a more appropriate title track to an album before!

This is darker and moodier than a lot of the other K-Pop to hit my charts which makes it stand-out amongst the crowd. I really enjoy it every time I listen to this as it has such a unique structure but I think that’s also what’s went against it to see it land this low. It misses a memorable, snappy hook that keeps it in your head afterwards, something that her song that does make my top 100 has in abundance. 110. JENNIE feat. It's such a bold, dynamic track that whizzes between different sounds at a blustering pace. JENNIE managed to to release this with great timing, it feel like Doechii was on top of the world at this point. It's funny how quick things can change because it feels like she has no hype at all now. JENNIE will have three entries in my top 100.

I found the deluxe tracks to be pretty consistent with the quality of the original album which isn't always the case. This was chosen as the single which surprises me because it doesn't feel as instant as the others. 112. J. These tracks dominated my listening in the first few weeks on 2025 while I awaited new music to release and this ended up sneaking a top #3 peak in the first week of the year. It didn't manage to hold up through the year but this does feel like classic Cole and he sounds really good with the sing-rapping on the chorus. The flow on the verses is so smooth too and shows why 'The Fall Off' is needed right now. There is one of these bonus tracks that does make my top 100.

This feels like a Charli XCX album track (you wouldn't be surprised if it was originally a rejected track from 'How I'm Feeling Now') and that's certainly not a bad thing. I loved the 'Rare' era for Selena but she's really been struggling ever since to reach that quality for me so aping Charli's sound was actually a nice mix-up. This was chosen as the single to lead into the album and proved to be a grower for me once the album was released. A fun concept and memorable chorus is always a winning combo. This was a massive highlight from her concert and I would have liked to have ranked it higher.

I certainly hadn't heard of her since The X Factor until she came on the radio on a car journey I had at the end of last year. 2025 has been such an amazing year for Tate! And loving the support for the Little Mix girls ❤️ Thank you all for commenting 🙂

This is one of the bonus tracks from the deluxe version of her 'Voyeur' EP and made it 11/11 for tracks from the EP making my chart. This continues her knack writing incredibly catchy hooks that worm their way into you head. The standout part of this one is the little drumroll before the final chorus. 116. Janet Devlin - Catfishin' Chart Run: 15-13-15-12-17-19 (6 weeks) Official Peak: n/a End of Year Points Chart: =119 It costs a lot to look this cheap Janet Devlin's Chart History: 2025 02 Red Flag 2025 04 Emotional Rodeo 2025 09 Daddy 2025 13 Catfishin' 2025 04 Houston 2025 05 Candy 2025 17 Psycho Ex This is just really fun. It does almost feel like a parody of country music at times with the growl at the end and the yee-haws but it really works for me. There's just so much personality in this that I can forgive any of its potentially awkward moments.

119. The Weeknd - Cry For Me Chart Run: 8-8-15-19-20 (5 weeks) Official Peak: 08 End of Year Points Chart: =119 I wish that I told you all my feelings The Weeknd's Chart History: 2014 04 Love Me Harder (Ariana Grande feat. This feels like something that would have been massive in my charts had it been released in his imperial era around about 'Beauty Behind The Madness' or 'Starboy' but by 2025, we've already heard this song by him numerous times. The bloated nature of the album doesn't help either. Decent, but far from essential Weeknd. 118. JISOO - TEARS Chart Run: 10-13-14-19 (4 weeks) Official Peak: n/a End of Year Points Chart: =134 But that don't mean you've won, you loser JISOO's Chart History: 2023 01 FLOWER 2023 01 All Eyes On Me 2025 01 earthquake 2025 03 Your Love 2025 06 Hugs & Kisses 2025 10 TEARS 2025 04 EYES CLOSED (JISOO & ZAYN) The only JISOO track to miss my EOY top 100, I have no doubt that TEARS would have done it had it been a stand-alone single. It's the weakest song from the EP butI probably do prefer it to 'EYES CLOSED' and it's just the timing of their releases that has caused this to appear much lower.

121. Leah Kate - Two Truths and a Lie Chart Run: 18-7-12-16 (4 weeks) Official Peak: n/a End of Year Points Chart: =129 I had suspicions but I can't believe I really saw it Leah Kate's Chart History: 2022 05 10 Things I Hate About You 2022 07 Monster 2022 08 Never Been Better 2022 10 Boys Like You 2022 02 My Bed 2022 04 Life Sux 2023 07 But I Lied 2023 05 Happy 2023 05 Super Over 2023 07 Space 2023 12 Bored 2023 19 Get In Loser 2023 14 Brainwash 2023 04 Unbreakup 2023 03 Lucky 2023 03 911 2023 10 Weird! 2023 20 Bad Taste 2024 03 What Girls Do 2024 10 Nasty 2024 04 WYA (Leah Kate & 24kGoldn) 2025 02 Just Because 2025 10 Dead Sexy Body 2025 04 Meltdown 2025 09 ill 2025 13 Not To Be Dramatic 2025 20 Alice In F*ck Boy Land 2025 07 Two Truths and a Lie 2025 07 Genius 2025 15 Creepin 2025 17 Stupid This isn't the last you will see from Leah in this #101-120 section. She probably deserved to do a little better in my charts than she has this year (that #1 hit remains just out of her grasp) but it's probably just levelling out after she gained 6 EOY top 100 hits from her debut album. This one sounds really good and the chorus is great but has suffered a bit from the 'end of year' tax where songs land lower than they deserve because they had so little of the year to impact. 120. Jorja Smith - With You Chart Run: 8-12-14-17 (4 weeks) Official Peak: 95 End of Year Points Chart: =124 Let you see the whole truth in my smile Jorja Smith's Chart History: 2017 15 Get It Together (Drake feat. Jorja Smith) 2025 15 The Way I Love You 2025 08 With You 2025 20 Down For You (Mobb Deep, Nas & Jorja Smith) This was the strongest Jorja solo track since 'Little Things' for me and it's a shame that it didn't seem to catch on at all. She always sounds great over garage beats but with this one being more low-key, it allows her voice to stand out even more. She has one of the best voices in music and I was blessed to hear her live earlier in the year. However, the concert was let down a bit by the audience near me being awful and talking throughout the whole show.

I'm glad there's plenty of albums you loved from my list! I'd say that 'Man's Best Friend' actually had the best album artwork of the year Thanks for commenting 🙂

Hi A lot I love so far! JADE has had a brilliant year so it's great to see her have multiple appearances. But my absolute favourite so far is JUMP. An amazing comeback from BLACKPINK and I'm still obsessed with it. I'm also very happy to see Ariana Grande and Madison Beer here Great news, her new album is out in 3 weeks time

123. Perrie - If He Wanted To He Would Chart Run: 20-14-16-11-16-20 (6 weeks) Official Peak: 44 End of Year Points Chart: 133 But he can't do the basics and that sh*t's essential Perrie's Chart History: 2024 03 Forget About Us 2024 18 Tears 2024 01 You Go Your Way 2025 19 Rollercoaster 2025 11 If He Wanted To He Would 2025 15 Cute Aggression Perrie was able to find herself a another mid-sized hit with this to lead into her album when it was looking perilous at one point. Unfortunately, it didn't quite connect with me in the same way that it did for most but I still enjoy it and I'm rooting for her to find more success. It feels like JADE is really overshadowing the other Little Mix girls so far when it comes to their solo careers. 122. Ari's vocals shine as well as ever and the track has a lovely structure where it builds beautifully. It's just that the other tracks from the deluxe all sound so fresh while this is a pretty traditional ballad-type.

125. Megan Moroney - Man on the Moon Chart Run: 10-15-20-17-17 (5 weeks) Official Peak: n/a End of Year Points Chart: 138 I think it's time we put another man on the moon Megan Moroney's Chart History: 2025 03 Am I Okay? 2025 14 Indifferent 2025 10 Man on the Moon 2025 18 Hope You're Happy 2025 06 6 Months Later 2025 19 Who's Your Daddy? Kicking off my the 'just missing out section' of my chart is Megan Moroney with 'Man on the Moon'. Her album 'Am I Okay?' was one that I loved a lot this year and won't get the love it deserves in this countdown so I'm glad I found space to sneak in one more track from it. On an album with a lot of ballads, this really stands out by being so fun. If Sabrina Carpenter even decided to do a full country album, I'd expect a lot of the tracks to sound like this. 124. Janet Devlin - Daddy Chart Run: 9-9-13-18 (4 weeks) Official Peak: n/a End of Year Points Chart: =119 You'll never know how good it tastes until you take a bite Janet Devlin's Chart History: 2025 02 Red Flag 2025 04 Emotional Rodeo 2025 09 Daddy 2025 13 Catfishin' 2025 04 Houston 2025 05 Candy 2025 17 Psycho Ex I wasn't expecting, in 2025, to become such a fan of somebody I half-remembered from The X Factor 14 years ago but then I ended up rediscovering Janet Devlin. This is the first of six appearances for her and makes it 2/2 for country songs so far. I do find the whole concept of this song to be quite cringy but it's undeniably catchy and the voice-cracks in the chorus sound so good.

Ariana Grande released the deluxe of 'eternal sunshine' but she's the only artist in my top 5 who hasn't released a full project this year. She was #1 year and it would be unwise to bet against her climbing back to the top again next year with her long-awaiting return to touring. Saba is the sole fighter for rap in my top 5 with his collaborative album with No ID being enough to earn it's place pretty much by itself. His debut, 'Care For Me' is also a 5* masterpiece and well worth checking out. Tate McRae has had her strongest year yet with her strongest album and a world tour. She is one of the best performers in pop at the moment and her show was brilliant. She really took full advantage of the arena stage compared to the smaller show I saw her do a year before. Sabrina Carpenter was actually my #1 artist on my Spotify Wrapped but loses out in the end. Another artist I saw on tour this year, she also graced is with a new album, alongside the deluxe for 'Short n Sweet' which kept her in my rotation for the full year. But what a debut year (in my charts) for Alessi Rose. Despite a small blip (about 4 weeks just in time for Spotify Wrapped), she was practically my most played artist for the whole 12 months. Both of her EPs this year are full of bangers and the three times I saw her live this year (2 headline shows and 1 supporting for Dua Lipa) have been brilliant. She's such an exciting new voice in pop for the future and its very rare to see a new artist dominate my listening this quickly. A rare bright spark in a poor year for music. I'll update this on 1st Jan as there's still time for things to change. The rest of the top 40: 06. Taylor Swift - 869 plays 07. Gracie Abrams - 865 plays 08. BLACKPINK - 798 plays 09. (NE) Bha Bha Ba - £157,431 Weeks: 1 (£157,431) Falling out: The Nutcracker: ROH, London 2025 (1 week) Now You See Me: Now You Don't (5 weeks) Silent Night, Deadly Night (1 week) Eternity (2 weeks) As expected, debuting at #1 is ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ (£9,015,796). This is above the opening of the 2009 original (£8,509,050) but down on the £11,187,562 that ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ opened with in 2022. However, these Avatar films have never been defined by their opening weekend with the first two taking full advantage of the Christmas holidays to show some insane holds and reach £96.7 million and £77.4 million in total to be the 5th and 12th biggest films ever in the UK (1st and 3rd worldwide). So, while this is only the sixth biggest opening of 2025 (fifth if you take out the previews for ‘Lilo & Stitch’), this still has every chance of becoming the biggest film of the year if it follows the same trajectory of the others. Audiences seem to be on board, but, unlike with the first two, critics have been split on this one (just see the BBC’s savage 1-star review) so we’ll see if the mixed word-of-mouth may have an effect. The only other new entry this week comes from India and it's 'Bha Bha Ba' (£157,431) at #10. This is an action-comedy starring Dileep and Vineeth Sreenivisan. It hasn't earned great reviews so I don't think it's going to have a second weekend as insane as 'Dhurandhar' last week. Dropping a place after two weeks atop the chart is ‘Zootropolis 2’ (-32%). With a cumulative total of £18.63, it’s on the verge of entering the YTD top 10 but is still behind the pace of the original at this stage (£20,701,132). However, the equivalent weekend gross is higher again (£1.9 million vs £1.1 million) and with kids now being off for Christmas, those midweek grosses should see some massive boosts and it’ll catch the original up in no time. ‘Wicked: For Good’ drops a place to third and has a fifth week above £1 million with a drop of 42%. It’s now up to £42.8 million, just under £5 million behind where ‘Wicked’ was going into Christmas weekend. Last week’s biggest debut, ‘Fackham Hall’, has a 54% drop in week 2 as it drops to #7 and ends the weekend just short of £1 million. While ‘Five Nights At Freddy’s 2’ has another harsh drop (-63%) but remains in the top 5 and has a total of £6.2 million. But having a great weekend again is ‘Dhurandhar’ which holds at #4 with a 35% drop. It’s just under £2 million in total which makes it the 2nd biggest Indian film of the year. Despite numerous new festive films released this year, it’s the classics that round out the chart with ‘Home Alone’ (#6, +47%), being joined in the top 10 by ‘The Polar Express’ (#8, +29%) and ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ (#9, +£196%). There are no further new-entries in the #11-15 section, but we do see Christmas entries for ‘Elf’ (#11), ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’ (#12) and ‘Die Hard’ (#14). Next week sees the openings of ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants’, ‘The Housemaid’, ‘Marty Supreme’, ‘Anaconda’, ‘Sentimental Value’, ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’, ‘Bowie: The Final Act’ and ‘#RunSeokjin EP.Tour: The Movie’. We also get a re-release of ‘The Devil’s Backbone’. Can any of them top the charts?

Album Chart 1. Sabrina Carpenter - Man's Best Friend Highlights - Manchild, Nobody's Son, Tears 2. Saba & No ID - From The Private Collection of Saba and No ID Highlights - Westside Bound Pt. 4, Woes of The World, head.rap 3. Tate McRae - So Close To What Highlights - Purple lace bra, It's ok I'm ok, Miss possesive 4. Reneé Rapp - BITE ME Highlights - Leave Me Alone, Mad, Kiss It Kiss It 5. Dave - The Boy Who Played the Harp Highlights - Raindance, The Boy Who Played the Harp, No Weapons Another great entry into his discography, The Boy Who Played the Harp largely misses the commercial side of Dave's music and instead provides us with 48 of the most thoughtful, anxious and contemplative minutes you can experience this year. It's messy at times, but it perfectly captures a moment in time of a great artist who's unafraid to share his most personal thoughts and worries. BITE ME is an album that's sneakily worked it's way into my affections. I don't think I would have told you when it was released that it was going to end up this high but I've just been constantly drawn back to it with different songs frequently becoming new faves over time. I'm delighted that it hit #1 as it should have been the album that made Reneé Rapp a star. I can't wait to see her on tour next year. So Close To What, I would argue, is instead the star-making album of the year. I don't think it has the same highs as her first two albums ('Exes', 'Greedy'. 'She's All I Wanna Be', 'What Would You Do') but it's much more polished and consistent overall. The first two albums were just big singles and filler while this is consistently great. I was a tad worried as the two pre-album singles didn't really capture my attention last year but I've fallen in love with them a lot this year. For the second year in a row, my #2 album of the year is a collaborative release by a rapper from Chicago and a legendary producer. How specific! From The Private Collection of Saba and No ID is a killer album and is without doubt the best Hip-Hop released in 2025. The production is lush and Saba is the most underrated MC around right now. But my #1 album of the year is Man's Best Friend. Sabrina finished 3rd last year with 'Short n' Sweet' but she's been able to strike while the iron is hot and release an album I love even more. 'emails i can't send' is one of my top albums of the decade and I really didn't feel like Sabrina would be able to top it. I'm not quite sure if this tops it, but it's at least on par. The run between 'Nobody's Son' and 'Go Go Juice' is perfection and pretty much earned it top spot on just that alone. The singles aren't quite as undeniable as on her last album but, as a whole, it's hard to top.
