  1. The Dance-Pop section of Disc 1 with Dannii, Gala, Olive, Sash!, Dario G, and Tina Moore is soooo good!
  2. I’m really loving the remastered artwork. It looks so crisp and sharp! Especially the back covers. Fabulous work once again!
  3. Lucky Star and Like a Virgin feel so right at home on those early NOWs. Wish that was in the real world.

Looking at this track listing reminds me of my iPod Nano! Also, yes!!! At the High Contrast Remix of Hometown Glory!❤️
  5. Beyoncé - Texas Hold 'Em Madonna - I Love New York Fergie L.A. Love (La La) Pop divas know how to make a state banger.
  6. Wow! What a great question. I have so many things to say (so apologies). The first thing NOW has done for me is; being fascinated with music in general. I have discovered so many songs outside of the Pop world that I usually stay in. Even my first NOW (NOW 44) introduced me to songs I never would normally listen to. Tina Turner, Phil Collins, Diana Ross, Tom Jones, The Cardigans, Supergrass, etc. Since they were rubbing shoulders with Steps, Britney, S Club, and Lolly I ended up getting to know the songs well, and discover a lot of these artists back catalogues. Since then each NOW has offered me something that I love that I don't usually put on my pop playlists. NOW also gives me a great sense of where I was when a song was released, and how old I was, what I was doing, and what memories are attached to it. NOW 45, me and my mum brought a copy each from Andy's Records in Mere Green, NOW 50 reminds me of seeing the first Harry Potter film, NOW 56 reminds me of when our car was broken into and my CD wallet was in there with my cd player. NOW 62 reminds me of my new obsession with Madonna and being confused of why she wasn't on Volume 62. 64 reminds me of the NOW Music Forums, and first stumbling across this very forum. 70 reminds me of me and my nan seeing "Mamma Mia" in cinema... twice! 80 is when I moved to Manchester for Uni... 82 is when I failed & left Uni. I have memories attached to each one that had released since my first. The biggest thing I have to thank NOW for is my interest in Copyright in Music! Learning about all the limitations, agreements, and label changes. I just find that stuff fascinating! And it's all because of NOW and their copyright pages, the lack of certain acts, the rival labels making their own comps, and other things. It's what got me into Music Management at previously said Uni. OH! And connections. A NOW album is such a great icebreaker for friends, family, and my husband. All of us relating to songs and artists that all appear in one place. It's just lovely!
  7. MISSING THE POINT (once again). I can't deal with this anymore - you have ruined this thread for me. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who agrees with that. Carry on moaning about this, but I for one am gonna ignore EVERYTHING you have to say in here. Got enough misery in the world, I don't need it on a forum thread about the NOW series.
  8. I don't care. NOW have done it in the past - waaaaaay before streaming was a thing. Look at 34/57 - Peter Andre. 2/26 - Frankie Goes to Hollywood. 6/23 - Simple Minds.
  9. YOU JUST SAID YOU DON'T WANT THEM TO DO THAT!!! Hadji - stop being so critical! We've had several threads about the NOW albums, and I don't think you've said ANYTHING positive in any of them. Why even bother talking about these if all you're gonna do is constantly moan about them. I'm getting so annoyed by you! You drag down each page with your negative criticism. Also - leaving 1 star reviews on iTunes is does more damage than anything else!! There'll be a time when we reach NOW 135 and it'll be one hit and 35 flops, "radio hits", etc. and you're gonna miss the effort they put in now. For reference. Here's an example of what you could say: "Oh cool, shame they couldn't get Harry Styles. But love the inclusion of Katseye, Jennifer Lopez, and glad Bruno finally got included. I was worried for a bit. And great inclusions of Chemical Brothers & Justin Bieber's older tracks. Nice to see them finally make their first NOW appearance. Can't wait to get it". That's it - no "it's got no Rap acts", "where's the dance tracks", "okay - so what about NOW 125 and the release of Yearbook 3002", or "idiots - they releasing the same week as Moana 4: Surfing some more".
  10. Some of the dance tracks could also be in reserve for the Ministry of Sound Annual that comes at the end of the year. It wouldn't surprise me if certain songs only allow one appearance on Compilation CDs now-a-days. @Hadji you don't work for NOW, you don't work for their record labels, you don't work for any other record label, you don't work for A&R, Management, Licensing, or anything else like that. So you need to STOP thinking you have all the answers for this. NOW has such limited resources now, and things have changed since 2016, let alone 2006/1996/1986. I'm just happy so many songs that are only digital/streamable get some sort of physical release thanks to NOW. Could there be improvements? Yes! Every 124 volumes have room for improvement - but it's not their fault (or not ALL their fault). Just be happy they still release physical copies. NOW US gave up, South Africa only do playlists, and other countries gave up loooooong ago.

Bonjour everyone. I've been working on a series for a little while now, and I think I'm ready to show you Volume 1 of the series. Welcome to GIRLS ON TOP Released Summer 1996; Girls On Top is a new series that focuses on the Girls who deliver the bops! Pushed to be maid after the explosion of Spicemania! Wannabe kicks off the album and the series. The girls sell the first edition alone, but the rest of the artists here also stand the test of time, show true girl power, and are true pop girlies. Bangers from Gina G, Louise, and Livin' Joy cover the Pop & Dance sound of the time. Mariah, The Fugees, and Eternal give us a glimpse into the R&B world from the UK and across the pond. And Garbage, Joan Osbourne, and Republica show us the girls have edge, angst, and fight the pop formula. Then we also celebrate the icons who came before them, and still have the power of release a hit with Celine Dion, Cher, and Tina Turner! Girls On Top has something for everyone! So enjoy!

Love the nods to your original 40s designs for the 100s!

Yay! Finally some justice for “Small Talk” by Katy Perry! It’s one of my faves from her.
  14. Probably Three Lions. Even at a very young age I thought it was tripe. The fact they’d wheel it out every 2-4 years as well… drives me insane.

That first disc of NOW 53 is giving Pop Party realness! Love it. And the artwork for NOW 54 is stunning! Love the colour choices. It really shows what a NOW could’ve looked like if the HITS didn’t exist. Fabulous stuff

Oh that artwork for 52 gave me goosebumps! The NOW team are like “damn, he did better than we did”. Also justice for H & Claire! And you kept Kate Winslet’s What If on NOW 50! It’s my favourite song of all time (I’m not even joking - it’s so good!). Made my own edits of your track listings on my Apple Music - and the flow for each one is so good! Slay it, queen!

K-Tel ex-workers are looking at these and getting angry that they couldn’t make albums as good as yours @nowmusic1993. 😂
  21. I know we haven’t got a chance in the universe, but I’d love Bring Your Love by Madonna/Sabrina to feature on NOW 124! I can’t have Madonna’s only appearance to be on a meh-ish Sam Smith track

We were spoiled rotten for fabulous remixes of pop bangers in 2009! This whole album has got me like:

Even though this a new cover, the nostalgia leaking from it makes me so happy!
  24. I still think they could fully tap into the world of Pop and include songs that are being really enjoyed, but don’t get the streaming numbers. Music is so open to everyone now, and multiple tracks get released each week - and only 5% chart, and then the percentage goes down even more regarding songs being hits. So instead of “what’s selling to most” it should be “what’s getting good reviews, buzz, and followings?”. At one point NOW were the forefront for getting a bit experimental with track listings during the 90s when licensing was more of a battleground for exclusives for other albums. Albums like NOW 26 missed big hits, but kept people interested with unique song choices like “Creep”, “This Garden”, and “Play Dead”. Songs that don’t really fit a “pop-chart” comp, but were still popular due to public reaction. In this day and age, what a lot of fans from my era like is Pop. And it’s not just limited to chart stuff. Like I said, Pop releases are aplenty right now. And if any fans are like me, we would love to see our Pop faves grace a NOW more frequently than now - which is all based on if they chart. You only have to look at something like Mighty Hoopla - a pure pop music festival which brings in 25,000-50,000 people each year. Seeing pop faves like Agnes (hasn’t been on a NOW since 74), Scissor Sisters (82), Cascada (73), Diana Vickers (77), Louise (56). All these, plus artists from previous years still have a big fan following, and probably some discovered these from past NOWs. So adding them again probably wouldn’t hurt, and will bring back a few pop fans. Then we can add brand new acts that are gaining momentum - with lack of promotion on radio/tv for new artists, a physical copy of the song on a CD sandwiched between established acts and big hits can really get the ball rolling. NOW haven’t been strangers to this before. New acts would usually appear as part of labels deal when licensing their bigger songs. Bring it back! Give us something new. Also, so many songs never get a physical release now - so it being on a compilation CD that is yours to keep is such a huge exclusive in my opinion - cos one day an artist, a label, even the streaming service could pull it and never put it back. Finally, get some new people in to curate the album track listings. Keep the ones who have been working since they got there, but add fresh people of different backgrounds who can recommend something new and exciting. The NOW album isn’t dead, it just needs updating for sure. (Sorry the long post - I was talking about this to someone at Hoopla, and I had to share our ideas here)
  25. Wow! A Geri song and Maria by Blondie. Haven’t seen them appear on any comp in quite a while. It’s a great set. Deffo gonna buy the CD & Vinyl of this one.
