  1. When Jack says ".. you've been downloading, streaming and buying..", I immediately think "don't forget '...and watching' before 'this week'," because video streams do count to the chart now since July 2018.
  2. Those blank cassettes are coming in handy today now a full show is taking place!
  3. I might possibly think if due to Radio 1's Dance Weekend this year, it might be shortened to 45 minutes or just cancelled altogether. But for now, it's starting at 4pm.
  4. I think I consider myself very much a chart geek in the way I document and record the modern Top 40 charts today, and even a bunch of the past Top 40 charts.
  5. The Top 5 starts in just a moment...
  6. A Top 10 hit there, it got to No.7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
  7. ...even after it's been hit on ACR.
  8. It might sound odd, but scrolling through the BBC Radio 1 schedule for 1 August (a week from now), I see that the Radio 1 Dance Weekend is starting to occupy the whole weekend. Do you think the chart show that day will be cancelled, shortened (maybe 5-5:45pm as in 2020) or in the usual 4-5:45pm slot?
  9. My personal opinion is that some of the streams on older long running hits might be deleted in order for the songs to be calmly disqualified from the chart listings - a la a single being deleted from production, with no new copies being manufactured.
  10. James, do you mean: "Who have you streamed, downloaded, bought or viewed more of this week?" I remember Scott Mills acknowledging video streams at that link!
  11. By the way, I'm listening to this chart live and recording it to CD-R from my FM tuner.. sorry to get too tech savvy!
  12. 23 May 2010 also was a Big Weekend and the number one did get a mention.
  13. The festival highlights might come after the June 25th chart if the show goes ahead...
  14. The show is not going ahead, but the chart is still being published. Info will be found on Suedehead's commentary when it's published.
  15. To be fair, Suedehead is definitely going to at least keep us posted with the info in its' place. But still I'll see if they do a chart recap at the end of the 5pm slot on Big Weekend tomorrow...
  16. Has this been happening since like 2010 or more recently?
  17. Hear me out. Browsing BBC Sounds today and I found that for Friday 23rd May, due to Big Weekend this year occupying the schedule, I'm sure the chart show is not going ahead as planned. If so, it's the second time this year it has happened, since March. I honestly think it could just be a recap and a play of the number one single before 5.45..
  18. And to me, it also means just average - as in "it's not good, not bad, but it'll suffice" - just half and half. Think of it like a 3.5 to 6.5 score rating out of 10.
  19. And TYIB was only ever really the pre-Christmas chart topper, the week before (13/12/1998) the Christmas 1998 chart. In a sense, it's more of a warm-up for what was to come later on.

To be fair in my opinion, the reason Heart doesn't add songs to the playlist until after their pop chart peak is because A) they're an adult contemporary station targeting an adult contemporary audience and B) the general public listening to Heart don't know about those songs properly to care about how old or recent it is - they just think it's good background fodder to hum along to, because it's catchy - at least to the audience Heart caters to.
  21. Seeing BBC Sounds right now for Friday 18th April and I found that the chart show will run from 4 to 6pm (two hours) and James Cusack is going to be in for Jack Saunders that week. I can understand due to it being Good Friday and all that.. ..but let's just say if it was 1997 or 1998, it would be like if Mark Goodier took Easter off and Clive Warren would have to deputise for him, even if that didn't really happen!
  22. To be fair, there was a lot of heavy publicity for the marathon but still every little penny counts as it's for Comic Relief. @JosephBoone will be locking the chart thread down for now until further notice.
  23. Thanks for that info! I'll just hot down the info myself.
