  1. It technically did get to number one as a re-recorded vocal part in Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers' third and final UK number one "Let's Party" in December 1989 alongside Slade and GG's "Another Rock n Roll Xmas" in the medley.
  2. Back to 1973 now and the track that only got to number 4 at the time, beaten by Slade in the aforementioned Xmas chart race...
  3. Shaking my head in embarassment now...
  4. This is the Xmas -1 chart, meaning that it's the chart before the big Xmas chart next week.
  5. Might I need to remind you that if I'm angry at the Xmas songs, Spitting Image said it best in 1990: "No more Christmas singles, they're worse than any war"
  6. Many weeks later, I still don't get a single iota of the lyrics of "The Fate of Ophelia" - as far as the disconnect in lyrical content is concerned. As a certain Todd in the Shadows once admitted, "I love you, we're gonna f--k all night... The fate of Ophelia?!?!"
  7. It will enter next week likely.
  8. Be afraid.... The Top 5 is up next and it's to sound like the Xmas FM radio stations..
  9. Still Top 10 despite ACR-applied rules..
  10. Permanent ACR be damned, but what with my recovery from yesterday's fall, I'm slowly coming around to Christmas records. But I have trauma for them on a different reason - I once worked retail for a few weeks and once, I had to endure them for a whole month on the music system.
  11. Another opportunity to remind you of the chart show edit of "Opalite" - just cuts out a good perfect radio length even more to a way more shorter edit!
  12. Shame that any of Laufey's normal music has not charted high...
  13. Spot the terrible "Are you asking me to...?"
  14. Shouldn't they be playing the re-recorded version with Kaitlin Aragon instead of the false version?
  15. After recording on 25th November, this record came out two days and 41 years ago!
  16. Rather spooky coincidence that with Band Aid at 22, I'm taping on a period accurate BASF LH-E I cassette!
  17. Like it or not, Amazon is unfortunately the way to go if you want to have a new Xmas song in the Top 40 nowadays.
  18. First NEW Christmas tune this year (as opposed to older songs)!
  19. Now we're getting close to the 4:30 news... Which we can interrupt the chart now for.
  20. Did Jack mispronounce Feliciano?
  21. Strangely, spot the schoolboy edit error on Driving Home for Christmas?
  22. If you were familiar with the podcast Broken Records for a long time, then it's like the Brokencyde album I'm Not a Fan, But the Kids Like It! being number one on the flop 20 for several months in a row.
  23. Sorry if I'm not very very good at the moment, I had a bit of a rough day yesterday - had to go to hospital for a few hours. But I do hope to contribute to this as little as I can.
  24. One and One actually came out 4th November 1996, but was still hanging around the Top 10 by Xmas 1996.
