Radio 2 Playlist 2026
Weird that 'Dai Dai' moves up the day before the World Cup ends.

Other Radio Playlists
They're leaving Radio 1. Charlie is staying but with Jerry.

Other Radio Playlists
Melvin will go to Radio 2 to do cover, Rickie might come to KISSTORY. KISS works better as an upbeat, rhythmic station.

Other Radio Playlists
Yeah KISS is in a bad place. I think their new upbeat pop/dance/R&B format works well but when they were just dance and R&B they played so much new music, now they barely play any, why? Also, they have about 5 enjoyable presenters. That may increase if any of Radio 1's departures join. Nat would work very well.

Radio 1 Playlist (17/07/26): Let's risk it all at my place
Happy to see 'Movin' To The Sun' on the A-list, I'm obsessed with it. Nice to see 'Invisible' on the B-list, I'm disappointed it's not a hit. Pleased to see 'Alive', 'My Place', 'risk it all' and 'Get Me Down' added.

Yes Daniel and Pete drag it up. The average age of daytime DJs goes down from 35.7 to 33.3.

Radio 1 Discussion
I've had another look at these changes and I can't believe that Sam and Danni haven't got anything out of this. I thought that Vick and Jamie would leave Radio 1 with Sam and Danni joining Katie when the next big change came in. Sam and Danni are clearly the next hosts of Breakfast but in my eyes it would feel wrong for them to jump straight to Breakfast from Weekend Afternoons without doing a permanent Weekday slot first. This is a minor issue but I hope with the new pairings (Charlie and Jerry, Vicky and Charley and Shanequa and Oré) they take pictures of them together instead of putting an old photo of each of them from separate photoshoots together. Also these changes bring the average age of a Radio 1 presenter down from 37.1 to 36.22.

I think it's a hire worthy offence now as Charley has now got a permanent slot!

Sunday First Look Chart Changes
Don't see why it's longer than the actual chart but I think it's here as a competitor to the Big Top 40 and Lauren is hosting as she was on Capital before Radio 1. Lauren is a brilliant host as well and Radio 1 will gain a listener (me) from Capital at this time each week.

Radio 1 Discussion
My thoughts on the new schedule: Charlie and Jerry - It's clear to me that Radio 1 really values Charlie as one of their top presenters, which, in my opinion, she is. I'm shocked to see her paired with Jerry though, I don't think they've ever presented a show together (other than Big Weekend or Ibiza broadcasts). I did think when Jerry covered Mollie on her maternity leave last year that they were getting him ready for a permanent slot. GK Barry - I think I'm definitely in the minority of Radio 1 listeners that actually enjoyed her shows last year. I'm a bit confused about her slot though, as the press release says she'll be starting on 10th September at 1pm for 6 weeks, so no Matt and Mollie on Thursdays for 6 weeks then? Vicky and Charley - I've enjoyed hearing Charley cover on Radio 1 in the past year and I think she fits the Group Chat format very well. Her big social media following could bring a few new listeners to the station as well. Pairing her with Vicky is a good choice as well. Mylo and Rosie - I'm a HUGE fan of these two and I'm so excited for them to get a permanent slot, as well as the Early Breakfast show being extended by an hour! Lauren Layfield - I've loved her since her work on Capital but I do think it's a bit strange to have the Official Chart: First Look longer than the actual Official Chart. Emil Franchi - The more I hear him on Radio 1, the more I enjoy him and I think he will really suit this time slot. Shanequa and Oré - I enjoyed hearing them on Life Hacks a few weeks ago and I think moving Life Hacks to the 7-9pm slot is a really good decision. My thoughts on the presenters leaving: Rickie and Melvin - I really enjoyed hearing both of them on Radio 1 and I'll miss them a lot but I think now is the perfect time for them to move on. I think they're most likely going to Radio 2. Dean McCullough - I never enjoyed him on Radio 1 and I think he's definitely going to Hits Radio. Nat O'Leary - A big shock for me. I always thought she was the strongest out of the Nat and Vicky pairing and would've been moving to daytimes in the future. I think she'll being going to KISS to replace Sam or if someone leaves Capital soon (Kemi or Aimee are most likely I feel) she'll go there. I'm very disappointed about this. James Cusack - I'm definitely in the minority of Radio 1 listeners that didn't enjoy him but I think he suits commercial radio more. I think he's off to a Global station, I'm not sure which one though. Swarzy - I've never really heard her but feels weird to see her leave just as the Oré and Swarzy cover pairing has started? There's so many different scenarios as to why they've chosen to leave but maybe Dean, Nat, Vicky and James were told they wouldn't ever get a slot on daytime and so all of them bar Vicky chose to leave?

I would've thought it would've been B-listed ahead of Sam Smith though.

Very surprised at the lack of support for beabadoobee this era. Pretty sure all singles from her last album were A-listed.
