Radio 1 Playlist (10/07/26): Invisible white noise in the danceteria
There were rumours a few days ago that Radio 1 was going to playlist Danceteria from this Friday.

Disclosure Day
Emily Blunt was the best thing about the film. I'm sure she'll get a Golden Globe nomination at least.

I'm sure they'd download it if they wanted to.

It is Madonna. She's always going to obtain some level of success with each album. We're not talking about a Mel C album entering the lower end of the top 10 with a few thousand sales from streams. Let's not forget that The Weeknd collaboration has given Madonna's monthly listeners a boost, which has benefited her this time around. "Popular" is her only song so far to reach a billion streams. She hadn't had that sort of boost prior to Madame X's release in 2019.

A surprise Taylor album this week would probably result in WW3. I'm sure that Taylor is far too busy enjoying tasty Travis on an exotic island somewhere to even ponder such a conniving scheme.

I think 50k is doable.

Unless there's a surprise release by Beyoncé or Taylor Swift, I think Madonna is a safe bet for number one.

It's a shame you've never applied this logic to Kylie whenever she's released a new album. You're always quick to point out her total number of variants and bundles. I guess it's different now that the shoe is on the other foot. I'm not criticising Madonna for playing the game. Fair play to her. I'm pointing out her fans' hypocrisy after they have spent years posting snide remarks about other artists who have never come close to releasing 22 variants of one album. Now, suddenly, the same fans are twisting themselves into knots trying to backtrack. Maybe they should wind their necks in a little bit in the future. It’s just pop music at the end of the day. Confessions II will debut with great sales, just enjoy it. It's going to be an exciting week.

This comment made me cackle, especially after watching videos/reading tweets from Madonna fans who have bought 10+ copies of Confessions II.

Which is why I never want to see or hear another Madonna fan slagging off other artists for playing the game. Their bile aimed at Taylor and Kylie is now incredibly hypocritical in retrospect.

I think she'll take a break when she's married and has started a family (if she wants one). Even if she took a long break, I can't see anyone surpassing her accomplishments any time soon.
