Glad to see The Door climbing into the Top 5. Heard it for the first time at the weekend and it sounded like a smash to me. Would love to see it go to the top but maybe it might need to wait until January now?

Great to see Gaga ahead currently. Any chance she can hang on??
  3. In August, Bob Geldof suggested there was a new version combining the previous versions for the 40th anniversary. Presumably it is hard to get new, current acts to sign up to a new version after the backlash to the previous one https://www.westendtheatre.com/252371/news/...d-and-live-aid/
  4. The George Ezra song on the track list says that too and that has already been released on other services
  5. Jess Glynne was added to Spotify last year

Maybe she’s a Jingle Bell Ball artist? Last year, they played Take That and Alicia Keys out of nowhere when they were on the line up

Elvis has the most with 18. Edit - Also the comment about Wham made me realise that for the longest time Last Christmas was the highest selling single not to go to number 1, but now it looks entirely possible that it could have the most weeks at number 1 by any single ever by the end of the 2020s if it carries on at its current rate
  8. I don’t bother much with the Radio 1 chart show. I much prefer listening to Top Of The Pops on BBC Sounds/BBC World Service as it usually plays new entries / climbers and the whole top 5, plus includes bits of news and interviews, with a focus on both albums and single charts. With no stupid “send a message on what’s app and let me know what you’re doing this weekend” An combination of this and the current chart show would be an improvement to the Jack Saunders show
  9. What caused that? Edit - oh was it the Manchester concert?
  10. Could the label request for Espresso and Please Please Please to not be reset if it looked like they might prevent Taste from adding another number 1 to her collection?
  11. Yeah it clicked with me this week when it came on Spotify when driving. A great pop track for summer

I don’t regularly listen to Radio 1 anymore but whenever I do put it on, all I ever hear the presenters say is “send a WhatsApp and let me know what you’re up to today /this weekend” and then it’s just endless shoutouts, even during the chart, midweeks, 00s/2010s show, Anthems. I just don’t understand how anyone finds that interesting or entertaining to listen to? In the battle against streaming services you’d think radio stations would be upping their game to provide content worth listening to. I only listen during weekends really so maybe week days are different but has anyone else noticed this?
  16. Yeah this would be a great number 1 to follow Guess

I wonder how long they will ignore Charli XCX for this year. Her sound fits well with what they play, she’s actually having hits for a change, critically acclaimed, memeable, having a popular culture moment with this album, a collab with an artist who is played lots on their station, they have played her before when she was in the charts (eg 1999). I wonder why they haven’t played any of her top 40 hits yet this summer

I had hoped that Jade might break the curse of solo Little Mix plummeting in week 2 but judging by its Spotify position it’s set for a massive drop this week. I hope it can at least manage two weeks in the top 40
  19. Of course streaming should be included but I’m not sure if EVERY single time you stream something it should count. I wonder what the chart would be like if streams stopped being counted by an individual after (for example) 10 plays of each song on each platform. Eg Mr Brightside - you can stream it 10 times on Spotify (however long that takes you to do naturally, whether in a day, a week or over the course of 5 years) but as soon as you’ve hit 10 streams, no further Spotify streams will count towards the chart. However, as each platform would have their own data, you’d have 10 streams on Apple, YouTube etc as well but I assume most people have only 1 or 2 main platforms they use consistently I’m sure it’s not impossible to get data like that I would also be in favour of a tiered SCR/ACR system.
  20. Maybe 1 more reset next month around Taylor’s London shows?
  21. Ok that’s two weeks in a row I’ve been convinced that Lunch was a certainty for number 1. Maybe next week??
  22. Oh wow, pretty surprised Lunch didn’t get number 1, hopefully next week
  23. Whatever happened to the TikTok Music streaming service. I was intrigued whether that could inject some life to the charts (for better or worse)
  24. Too early to call Stick Season the year end number 1?
