Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ Scores 16th Week at No. 1 on Hot 100, Country Takes Entire Top 5 for First Time By Gary Trust | 8/3/2026 Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” claims a 16th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, tying for the fourth-longest command in the chart’s history. The single, which first hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 in February, is one of only seven songs to have led for 16 weeks or more. Here’s an updated rundown, ranked by most weeks at No. 1, over the chart’s archives, which date to August 1958: 22 weeks, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Mariah Carey, 2019-26 19, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Shaboozey, 2024 19, “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus, 2019 16, “Choosin’ Texas,” Ella Langley, 2026 16, “Last Night,” Morgan Wallen, 2023 16, “Despacito,” Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, 2017 16, “One Sweet Day,” Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, 1995-96 Meanwhile, country songs monopolize the Hot 100’s entire top five for the first time ever, thanks to hits by Langley, Morgan Wallen — who debuts at No. 2 with his new single, “Been by Now” — a duet by the pair, Taylor Swift and Stella Lefty, adding to the records being rewritten by the genre. “Choosin’ Texas,” on SAWGOD/Columbia Records, with Triple Tigers having promoted it to country radio, totaled 25.5 million official streams (up 1% week over week), 52.3 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 1%) and 9,000 sold (down 24%) in the United States July 24-30. Langley’s first Hot 100 leader falls to No. 2 after 16 weeks at No. 1 on Streaming Songs; holds at No. 6, after reaching No. 4, on Radio Songs; and is steady at No. 3 on Digital Song Sales following 13 weeks on top. “Choosin’ Texas” also rules the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart for a 34th week — tying for the third-longest reign in the chart’s history — and Songs of the Summer for a ninth week. Wallen’s new standalone single, “Been by Now,” debuts at No. 2 on the Hot 100. Released July 24, it starts with 26.5 million official streams, 15.8 million in radio reach and 12,000 sold. Wallen adds his 20th Hot 100 top 10, becoming the 28th act to reach the milestone — and the first artist that has primarily recorded country music in his entire career to achieve the feat. Wallen first reached the region in 2020, with “7 Summers.” He, Drake (55) and Taylor Swift (45) are the only artists with at least 20 top 10s each this decade. “Been by Now” concurrently launches at No. 1 on Streaming Songs, where it’s Wallen’s sixth leader, and Digital Song Sales, where it’s his 11th. As the Hot 100’s top five includes Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 1 and Wallen’s “Been by Now” at No. 2, they also share the No. 4 spot with their duet, “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” which holds at its highpoint. The three songs make for a rarity: It’s just the fourth time that two acts each have had songs of their own in the Hot 100’s top five along with a collaboration between them simultaneously; it’s the first such instance involving country titles. Wallen’s Still the Problem Tour featured Langley in a supporting role on multiple dates, including its final stop Saturday (Aug. 1), in Philadelphia, where they performed “I Can’t Love You Anymore.” Country hits (defined as those that have made Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart) infuse the entire top five on the Hot 100 for the first time, following two weeks in July when the genre had four songs in the tier. Elsewhere in the Hot 100’s top 10, “Dracula” by Tame Impala and JENNIE holds at No. 6 after reaching No. 5. The Motels "Suddenly Last Summer" 186 Discovered: Raider Radio, June 2026 Semifinal result: 25th After a surprise comeback hit last year with an 80s song in 'Another Day', it was time to try again with this recently-discovered Motels song. The Motels had previously been sent by Suedonia which had an influence on this choice...familiarity points! Alas, there were very few familiarity points, or other points for that matter, not helped by how strong this semifinal ended up being. We've now DNQ'd 4 times this year and not qualified since our top-10 hit in February. At this point, it's time to go back to sending whatever we like and not caring about wide appeal, or points, or qualifying. It starts with 124,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending July 23, according to Luminate — the singer-songwriter’s best week ever by units. Abrams previously hit the top 10 with her last album, The Secret of Us, debuting and peaking at No. 2 in July 2024. Abrams is the sixth act to land their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2026, following Noah Kahan, Ella Langley, Megan Moroney, Don Toliver and Megadeth. The single, which first hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 in February, surpasses 14-week leaders “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey, from 2005, and “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston, in 1992-93, for the most weeks at No. 1 ever among non-holiday titles by women with no co-billed acts. Removing the seasonal qualifier, “Choosin’ Texas” trails only Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the longest Hot 100 command among songs by only women. Here’s an updated rundown, ranked by most weeks at No. 1, of the elite eight songs that have ruled the Hot 100 for 15 or more weeks over the chart’s archives, which date to August 1958: 22 weeks, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” Mariah Carey, 2019-26 19, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Shaboozey, 2024 19, “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X feat. Two weeks earlier, “Choosin’ Texas,” “I Knew It, I Knew You” and “I Can’t Love You Anymore” were in the same spots, joined by Langley’s “Be Her” at No. 3. In eight other weeks — all in the past three years — country titles took the top three, starting on the Aug. 5, 2023-dated Hot 100, via Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town,” Wallen’s “Last Night” and Luke Combs’ “Fast Car.” Of the nine weeks all-time with country songs at either Nos. 1-3 or Nos. 1-4 on the Hot 100, this week marks the fifth in a row dating to the first week in July. Meanwhile, another country hit by Wallen will challenge for a notable Hot 100 debut next week: “Been by You,” released this past Friday (July 24). Olivia Dean’s “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” rises 9-7 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 5. It leads Radio Songs for a second week (64.8 million, up 3%). Plus, her “Man I Need” descends 8-9, after hitting No. 2. Langley’s “Be Her” drops 3-8 on the Hot 100 after peaking at No. 2. Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might,” which debuted at No. 1 in January and led for three weeks through March, holds at No. 10. It rules Hot R&B Songs chart for a 28th week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a 21st week, tying for the third-longest No. 1 stay on the latter list, whose history dates to October 1958. Kendrick Lamar has the top two longest-leading hits, each in 2024-25 — “Luther,” with SZA (31 weeks), and “Not Like Us” (22) — while SZA’s “Kill Bill” also led for 21 weeks, in 2022-23.
