'Dracula', 'Choosin' Texas' and 'E85' are the others with new peaks this week. By missing a couple days of sales/streams, Ye only achieves two entries both in the 30s. Raye also released an album (albeit with a full week) which helps 'Click Clack Symphony' just scrape in at #40. The album chart is much busier with 11 new entries! The chart archive is down again which will limit my commentary. Ye has had five #1 albums, mostly in the second half of his career, but Bully settles for a #3 debut, again hindered by the belated release. Raye sees a big improvement with her album at #4; My 21st Century Blues only peaked at #34! Melanie Martinez scores her second-highest-charting album to date, although does not match the #1 peak of Portals. Likewise, Central Cee's last album reached #1, but this one debuts at #22 and to be fair it's only an EP. As far as I can tell, Robyn has never charted an album in NZ , so a #28 debut is actually a big deal for her. Four years ago Wilkinson had a #3 album with Cognition; this time he's only at #31. Charlie Puth at least makes the top 40, better than he fared in the UK, but his top 10 streak comes to an end here too.

Well, now that it's Easter I've decided I should probably get this 2025 stuff wrapped up finally So here we go... 2. Sombr "Back To Friends" On my very first listen of 'Back To Friends', when it was first played on the chart show, I never could've imagined how special this song would become over the rest of the year. It made a very strong first impression on me, I was quickly moved by the incredible chorus and lyrics, certainly amazed that they came from an artist that just reached adulthood. In those first couple months, it always felt like 'Back To Friends' was playing second-fiddle to 'Undressed', which was getting all the radio airplay and more attention overall, for whatever reason. Even though I liked 'Undressed' too, this was frustrating. I don't know what changed, but suddenly 'Back To Friends' was the one charting higher, finally got its push to radio (in the US, at least), and became unquestionably the bigger song. It was so rewarding to watch its chart run week by week and know this very special song was finally getting the flowers it deserved. As for my personal chart, it will be one of those #1 regrets for me, as I let it peak at #2 behind 'Twilight Zone'. That was correct based on how I felt at the time, but doesn't reflect how huge it was in my life for the whole year. But #2 on my EOY does reflect that 1. Gigi Perez "At The Beach, In Every Life" This was a surprise even to me, but I've listened through every song here to make sure it really is my favorite. Like most of us, I discovered Gigi Perez when 'Sailor Song' went viral. I had quite the change of heart with that song, initially finding it horrible but later placing it at #4 on my EOY for 2024. Gigi seemed like an obvious one-hit wonder, though I hope she won't be. I gave her next single 'Chemistry' a chance and never went back to it. But then she released her album, and I just happened to hear the title track on an online radio station. Unlike her previous two songs, 'At The Beach, In Every Life' was extremely instant, and quickly became my most-replayed song of the year as I never got tired of it. From a personal charts standpoint, Gigi has the rare feat of two #1s and no other entries whatsoever. Adele and Nate Smith have achieved this before, but eventually had other songs that charted lower. Also, with me being a mainstream h*e, this is only the second time my EOY #1 is a song that wasn't a hit on any official chart. So by all accounts this is pretty remarkable. From my personal opinion standpoint, I can barely describe how this song makes me feel, it's just soothing in a way I've never felt with any other song. It gives me intense sadness, happiness and comfort at the same time. All of the feels, as one might say. I can't say it's made me cry (yet), but it does take all my other thoughts and distractions away for 3:57. I adore Gigi's vocals, especially the harmonies throughout and the falsettos at the end. And it's been quite a few years since I reacted this strongly to any song. So for those reasons, 'At The Beach, In Every Life' is my undisputed #1 of 2025. 'Diane' is one of those entries I can't believe I never considered sending, but it was brilliant to see it for Dobago, a country I wouldn't have expected to send country at the time! Kind of like Danaeviia sending Reba McEntire later on (albeit a dance remix). 'Thumbs' felt like a slightly cheap winner even at the time but I'm sure I still pointed it favorably, still one of Sabrina's best singles ever.

BTS Earns 7th No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With ‘ARIRANG’ By Keith Caulfield | 3/29/26 BTS’ ARIRANG debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated April 4), scoring the reunited pop group their seventh leader. The set opens with 641,000 equivalent album units earned — the largest week for an album by a group since the chart began measuring by units in December 2014. Of that sum, 532,000 are in pure album sales (purchases of physical and digital albums), landing BTS the biggest sales week for an album by a group in more than a decade. ARIRANG follows BTS’ previous No. 1s Proof (2022), BE (2020), MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 (2020), MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA (2019), Love Yourself ‘Answer’ (2018) and Love Yourself ‘Tear’ (2018). Also in the top 10 of the latest Billboard 200 chart, Luke Combs captures his seventh top 10 set, as The Way I Am bows at No. 2. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. Of ARIRANG’s 641,000 equivalent album units earned in the latest tracking week, pure album sales comprise 532,000 (the group’s biggest sales week ever; it debuts as BTS’ seventh No. 1 on Top Album Sales), SEA units comprise 95,000 (equaling 99.10 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs, BTS’ biggest streaming week ever for an album; it debuts at No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums) and TEA units comprise the remainder. BTS claims the biggest week for an album by units earned since Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl debuted at No. 1 with an historic 4.002 million units on the Oct. 18, 2025-dated chart. BTS has the biggest week for any album by a group, by units, since the Billboard 200 began ranking by equivalent album units in December 2014. By pure album sales (purchases of physical and digital download albums), BTS has the biggest sales week for any album since Showgirl started with 3.48 million copies sold. The last group to have a larger sales week was One Direction, with the debut week of Midnight Memories (547,000 sold, Dec. 14, 2013-dated chart). ARIRANG’s first-week sales number was largely powered by physical sales (516,000) bolstered by its availability across 17 vinyl variants and nine CD editions, all of which have the same tracklist. (All contain collectible items such as photocards, stickers and posters.) Vinyl sales accounted for 208,000 — BTS’ best sales week on vinyl and the largest by a group in the modern era (since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991). It’s also the sixth-largest vinyl sales week for an album in the modern era; Taylor Swift has the top five. The biggest week for a vinyl set in the modern era was registered by the opening week of Showgirl, with 1.334 million. ARIRANG’s release date of March 20 was announced on Jan. 1, though its title was not revealed until Jan. 16. The album was ushered in alongside the global live Netflix special BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG on March 21. The set’s lead single, “SWIM,” was released simultaneously with the album, and the track’s music video premiered the same day. Later in the release week, BTS performed on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, on March 25 and 26. Next month, the BTS WORLD TOUR ‘ARIRANG’ will launch on April 9 in Goyang, South Korea, and arrive in the United States on April 25 in Tampa, Fla. The trek will continue through the U.S. and Mexico through May 28, before heading overseas. The tour returns to the U.S. on Aug. 1 and is set to wrap its U.S./Canada dates Sept. 6 in Inglewood, Calif. Luke Combs collects his seventh top 10-charted album on the Billboard 200, as The Way I Am arrives at No. 2 with 101,000 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, SEA units comprise 76,000 (equaling 77.66 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs; it debuts at No. 2 on Top Streaming Albums), album sales comprise 23,000 (it debuts at No. 2 on Top Album Sales) and TEA units comprise the rest. The album was preceded by seven charted hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, three of which reached the top 10: “Back in the Saddle,” “Sleepless in a Hotel” and “Be by You.” All three have also reached the top 10 on the Country Airplay chart, with “Back in the Saddle” topping the list for two weeks in November. The Way I Am adds to Combs’ top 10 total on the Billboard 200, following Fathers & Sons (No. 6 peak in 2024), Gettin’ Old (No. 4, 2023), Growin’ Up (No. 2, 2022), What You See Is What You Get (No. 1, 2019), The Prequel (No. 4, 2019) and This One’s for You (No. 4, 2018). Of the eight remaining titles in the top 10, just one is not a former No. 1 (Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving at No. 6). Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem falls 2-3 (76,000 equivalent album units earned, up 4%), Harry Styles’ Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally. slips 1-4 in its third week (64,000, down 35%) and Don Toliver’s Octane rounds out the top five, rising 6-5 (55,000, down 2%). BTS’ ‘Swim’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 By Gary Trust | 3/30/2026 BTS’ “Swim” makes the splashiest of starts, at No. 1, on the Billboard Hot 100. The song becomes the superstar South Korean pop group’s seventh career leader and first since 2021; the following year, the septet announced a hiatus. “Swim” is from ARIRANG, BTS’ first studio album of new material since 2020. The set blasts in atop the Billboard 200 albums chart, where it’s likewise the group’s seventh No. 1. BTS continues to boast the most Hot 100 No. 1s among groups since it first led, with “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)” with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo, in October 2020. In fact, BTS has the most No. 1s among groups in nearly half a century — since the Bee Gees banked its nine career chart-toppers in 1971-79. As for the most No. 1s among groups since the chart began in August 1958, the Beatles lead all acts with 20, followed in the category by the Supremes (12), Bee Gees, the Rolling Stones (eight) and BTS. “Swim,” on BigHit Music/Geffen/Interscope Capitol, arrives as the Hot 100’s 1,190th No. 1 all-time, and the 89th to debut at the summit (making for a feat that 7% of all leaders have achieved). Released March 20 on ARIRANG, “Swim” drew 15.3 million official streams and 25.8 million radio airplay audience impressions and sold 154,000 (digital and physical singles combined) in the United States in the week ending March 26. Its physical sales total reflects two CD singles, one including an instrumental version, while its digital sum is comprised of the original and instrumental versions, with seven options of the original available from March 24 through the end of the tracking week with alternate cover art — one for each member of BTS. (The instrumental version, released March 23, was also made available for streaming.) BTS promoted its new music with the Netflix special BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG March 21 and appearances on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon March 25, when it performed “Swim,” and March 26. “Swim” debuts at No. 2 on Streaming Songs, BTS’ best career rank on the chart; No. 18 on Radio Songs, the act’s highest entrance; and No. 1 on Digital Song Sales, where it’s BTS’ 13th leader, the most among groups. As soloists, BTS members Jimin (“Like Crazy,” April 2023) and Jung Kook (“Seven,” featuring Latto; one week, July 2023) have each notched one Hot 100 No. 1. “Swim” is additionally BTS’ 11th Hot 100 top 10 and first since “Bad Decisions” with Benny Blanco and Snoop Dogg (No. 10 peak, August 2022). (Jung Kook has earned three solo top 10s and Jimin, one.) Going a little deeper (but not too deep for fear of a lifeguard’s whistle), “Swim” is the first Hot 100 No. 1 featuring that word in a song title. The prior high, um, watermark? No. 5, for Bobby Freeman’s “C’mon and Swim” in August 1964. A shout-out, too, to Teddy Swims, whose “Lose Control” led for a week in March 2024. Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” drops to No. 2 on the Hot 100 following four weeks at No. 1 since mid-February — the most for a song by a woman that also hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart; it leads the latter list for an 18th week. It also posts a fifth week atop Streaming Songs (23.7 million, up 9%). Olivia Dean’s first two Hot 100 top 10s remain in the region as “Man I Need” slips to No. 3 from its No. 2 high and “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” rises 9-7 for a new best. Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might” descends 3-4 after three weeks atop the Hot 100 in January to mid-March. It leads Radio Songs for a fifth week, with 80.9 million in audience (down 1%). It tops the multimetric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot R&B Songs charts for an 11th week each; on the former, it passes “That’s What I Like” (2017) for Mars’ longest domination among his five leaders. Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” falls 4-5 on the Hot 100 after 10 weeks at No. 1 last June-August. It logs a 43rd week in the top five, tying The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (2020-21) for the second-longest such run, after Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (47 weeks, 2024-25). HUNTR/X’s “Golden” backtracks 5-6 on the Hot 100 following eight weeks at No. 1 last August-October. Notably, the only two groups to top the Hot 100 in almost the last four years — BTS and HUNTR/X — are associated with K-pop. (Before their leaders, Glass Animals’ “Heat Waves” reigned in 2022.) PinkPantheress’ “Stateside,” with Zara Larsson, dips to No. 8 from its No. 6 Hot 100 high, as it adds a sixth week at No. 1 on Hot Dance/Pop Songs. Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” is down 8-9 on the Hot 100, after it began her career-best 10 weeks atop the chart upon its debut in October and led through January. Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Kehlani’s “Folded” rises 13-10 after reaching No. 6.
