40. Demi Lovato "Cool For The Summer"
Finally Demi has her "I'm not that innocent" moment, and personally I'd rank it almost as high as Britney's and Christina's from back in the day. Great to hear her push the envelope not only lyrically but sonically too, in fact I barely even notice what she's singing when the production is so captivating. It also took me ages to notice the chorus has a melody similar to "Domino" by Jessie J, but I think we can agree that Demi improved it.
39. Calvin Harris feat. Haim "Pray To God"
I pray to God that Haim will release a new album this year.
38. Tori Kelly "Hollow"
"Hollow" comes from a re-release of Tori's album and holy crap is it mind-blowing. It took me several listens just to comprehend the power of Tori's vocals, let alone take in the music itself. If this is what she performs at the Grammys I'm going to need serious medical attention.
37. Sheppard "Geronimo"
36. Imagine Dragons "Shots" / "Shots (Broiler Remix)"
35. Sia "Elastic Heart"
Can't say I saw this coming for proper hit status even after "Chandelier" became a smash, but kudos to whoever decided to re-release "Elastic Heart" because it was a huge pleasure to hear on the radio and the chart show, and who could forget the video. There was also the irony of The Weeknd being removed from the track just as he was becoming a very big name himself and could have helped sell it, but of course Sia's more than capable of holding her own on it. That last-chance boost to #10 in the UK on Easter was so fulfilling!
34. Carly Rae Jepsen "Run Away With Me"
I know I mostly comment on these songs in terms of their chart performance and their place in the artist's career trajectory, and of course I'd have a lot to say in that regard about "Run Away With Me", the biggest and most disappointing chart injustice of 2015. But this song is too special to be analyzed so negatively. Instead of being sad about never hearing it on the chart show, I can't help but feel grateful to be listening to it at all, and especially proud of Carly for recording it and defying anyone who dared write her off as a one-hit wonder with no real potential. We should try to remember "Run Away With Me" not for falling short of the UK top 40 or the Billboard Hot 100, but simply for the incredible record that it is.
That said, I made the most of every time I heard it on the radio, which was a lot more often than I would have expected. I even heard it this morning so huge thanks to Hot 101 in Y-town for inexplicably keeping it on regular rotation, and Z88 for playing it for a month or two. I hope the casual listeners know how lucky they are :snif:
33. Jess Glynne "Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself"
One of those songs where the title is clunky and not promising at all, but it totally delivers anyway. The lyrics taught me a life lesson or two, making this song a great little pep talk at a time when I often needed one, and Jess makes it sound honest and genuine when I was expecting it to be a bit patronizing. Bonus points for the drum solo in the video!
32. Tori Kelly "Should've Been Us"
31. Cash Cash "Surrender"
Cash Cash were absolutely awful when I first heard them in 2009—basically a poor man's 3OH!3, which is about the worst thing anyone could be—but surprisingly they've stuck around and won me over years later when they released "Take Me Home". They’re still a pretty generic dance group, and on the surface "Surrender" seems even more basic than "Take Me Home" (not to get confused with Jess Glynne) but its simplicity allows the vocals to really shine and that’s what makes this song so sweet. -

FINALLY! In the end I decided only 54 songs were worthy enough for my countdown, and this post takes us all the way to #41. The commentary will be all over the place, with some well-thought-out essays, some paragraphs, some with just a sentence or two and some with no commentary at all if I already reviewed them earlier. Enjoy!
http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l219/Yoshi538/18fb8858-adcc-4fc4-9990-71411ceed50d.jpg54. One Direction "Night Changes"
I loved this since it was first released, but even more so when it crossed over to the US in early 2015 and became one of 1D's few hits that weren’t entirely front-loaded. Much deserved in this case as I'd consider it one of their best. It's a shame the group is just months away from a hiatus when they've honed their sound so well and are just now at their commercial peak singles-wise. I'm still upset they didn't release "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" after this!
53. Pink "Today’s The Day"
Still waiting for a new Pink album but she did tease us a bit by releasing one song for the Ellen Degeneres show. I haven't been watching Ellen to see if she actually uses it, but it's pretty incredible and could have done well as a proper single too. I have high hopes for her next era after hearing this. Oh, and the best thing—she now has a song called "Today's The Day" and another called "Tonight's The Night" :magic:
52. Take That "These Days"
Here's another song that carried over from late 2014. I certainly didn't expect such an infectiously catchy song from Take That, especially without Robbie on board. This was one of my favorite songs to play on plug.dj, in part because the video is so wonderful.
51. Andy Grammer "Good To Be Alive (Hallelujah)"
50. Magic! "No Way No"
"No Way No" was Magic!'s fourth single, and yes they did release that many even though most people only ever heard the first one. I was lucky enough to hear this on the radio and was hooked immediately; even "Rude" didn't get such an instant reaction from me! They really shouldn't have sat on this for so long, silly hens.
49. Twenty One Pilots "Stressed Out"
48. Walk The Moon "Different Colors"
Is it time for me to tell the story about seeing Walk The Moon live? They were in Nashville for two nights the same weekend I was there, but by the time I found out the first night was sold out and the second had only single seats available. I checked at the ticket office the day of the show and was told the same thing, so I tried to accept the fact I wouldn't get to see them. We were in Nashville for my cousin's birthday and had dinner reservations that night anyway, but the thought of missing Walk The Moon was lingering in my mind the whole time. Luckily we were with a friend who lives in the city and offered to give me and my dad a ride to the venue after dinner, just to see if there still might be tickets available. But we didn't get far because there was a college football game nearby that had just ended, so traffic was at a standstill, and by this time it was already past 8:00 when Walk The Moon was scheduled to start. Our friend re-routed us all the way around the city to enter downtown from the other direction, and dropped us off a few blocks away at around 8:10 or 8:15. As luck would have it, there was one window open at the ticket office. I ask the lady behind the counter if there's anything left. She says she has two pairs of seats (remember I was previously told only single seats!), one of which is in Row F (i.e. THE SIXTH ROW). My dad knows a few Walk The Moon songs and agrees to buy a ticket with me. We walk in 20 minutes late but there they are, playing the intro to "Different Colors" which was the first song in their set! Just in time!!!! It was too perfect, I felt like I was in a movie with the way everything fell into place and needless to say it was the best first experience of Nashville that I could've ever imagined!
47. Ed Sheeran "Thinking Out Loud"
Also from 2014 :P I consider this a definite pop masterpiece and the best song Ed has created, but it ranks lower than "Sing" and "Don’t" did last year because "Thinking Out Loud" suffered from a lot more overplay. I was really hoping for it to be Ed's first US #1 but it ended up stuck at #2 behind "Uptown Funk".
46. Chris Young "Lonely Eyes"
This is basically a much-improved version of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me". Not really, but I noticed the chorus is pretty similar but more uptempo. And I never got sick of hearing this over and over the way I did with "Stay With Me".
45. David Nail "Kiss You Tonight"
I don't know what to say because nobody knows him but David Nail is seriously underrated :'( I've just checked Wikipedia and this song also peaked in 2014 :')
44. Natalie La Rose feat. Jeremih "Somebody"
Sampling Whitney Houston made for a very clever debut. It's a shame Natalie ran out of ideas after that.
43. Daya "Hide Away"
42. Dierks Bentley "Riser"
You might assume this is the song that inspired my username, but actually I chose Riser when it was announced as Dierks' album title, a few months before I ever heard this song. Thankfully it didn't disappoint and was amazing to see him perform it live!
41. Becky G "Lovin' So Hard"
If only this had been the follow-up to "Shower", rather than "Can’t Stop Dancin'", maybe—just maybe—things would have panned out differently for Becky. It's basically a continuation of the happy and carefree emotion that made "Shower" so enjoyable. Even Austin Mahone couldn't ruin it!

"Roses" overtakes "#Selfie", which peaked at #12, to be the Chainsmokers' highest-charting song in New Zealand. #2 is the highest Charlie Puth's album has charted anywhere so far. Strange to see him debut higher than Sia AND Rihanna but there you go. Speaking of Rihanna, #28 is quite low for "Work" to be entering on a full week of sales! "Love Yourself" claims its tenth week at #1, with Jonas Blue or Lukas Graham getting set to finally take it down in the coming weeks.

Yay for NO non-movers in the top 10!
(They should change the ratios every week)Three new songs in the top 10 is excellent and there could be three more next week if Pillowtalk, Summer Sixteen, and Me Myself & I can all make it!All My Friends needs to get pushed over here, I hope they're just waiting for it to peak everywhere else because otherwise it'd be a huge wasted opportunity.
Hooray for Dierks and Maren Morris debuting!

Wow, I'm surprised at how many I recognize and like from before I joined! (Probably because the veto was less strict but still) Here are my favoritest faves:
XXI ~ DNQ(23/26) ~ THE TEMPER TRAP - "FADER" Omg wut, such an unjust DNQ
XXXI ~ 13/35 ~ BETH DITTO - "I WROTE THE BOOK"
XXXVI ~ DNQ(24/24) ~ THE 2 BEARS - "BEAR HUG" Last!?
XL ~ 24/29 ~ THE RAPTURE - "HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE?" I adored this at the time and would've gladly helped it finish higher than 24th
LIII ~ ● 03/30 ~ TRULS - "OUT OF YOURSELF"
LXVIII ~ 31/31 ~ EAGLES FOR HANDS - "GLASS HEART" (FEAT. HOLLY PARTRIDGE) Oh yass, will take any opportunity to appreciate this <33
LXXIV ~ ★ 01/42 ~ A-WA - "HABIB GALBI" My all-time Perseph fave (bhangra)
LXXIX ~ ● 03/42 ~ DANCE WITH THE DEAD - "WAVES"
Pick N Mix was my favorite medley!

woo! fantastic :D
Thanks for commenting! :wub:Sorry :music:Liking Stressed Out and My House too
Focus :puke2:
I'm not inclined to do any of that, sorry :heehee:Get James Blegh and like 50% of the country out and that would be a perfect list.
Mango! :wub:Jordaaaaaaaan! :D1. Justin Bieber – Sorry [2-2-1] Oh yes, I'm happy with this at Number 1, cos it's an absolute choon, though I'm also hoping Love Yourself does well for you soon! That wasn't meant to rhyme btw but I'm pleased it does... I'm a poet, and you know it :P
3. Jason Derulo – Get Ugly Wow, that's a big new entry! I find the song a bit average if I'm honest, and I'm miffed that it's doing so much better than the far superior 'Cheyenne' - sometimes people just have no taste :(
6. Disclosure feat. Lorde – Magnets [16-6]
11. Ellie Goulding – On My Mind [11-3-6-11]
12. Adele – Hello [1-3-12]
13. One Direction – Perfect [11-7-13] Surprised to see no sign of History... how is their latest era shaping up in the US btw?
14. Adele – When We Were Young [30-14] Pleased to see this shooting up, great if obvious choice of second single from her!
15. Snakehips feat. Tinashe & Chance The Rapper – All My Friends
17. James Bay – Let It Go [10-17]
18. Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime [27-5-18]
22. Sia – Alive [20-15-22] Just ordered my copy of the CD, first CD I've bought for a while in fact :)
23. David Guetta feat. Sia & Fetty Wap – Bang My Head I'm so over this. I actually found I got bored of it very quickly.
25. Flo Rida – My House [28-25] Nice enough song, I wouldn't have minded it becoming a hit.
26. Rachel Platten – Stand By You [24-25-26]
27. Florence + The Machine – Queen Of Peace [23-x-27]
28. Tame Impala – Let It Happen YESSS, such a tune!
29. Foals – Mountain At My Gates Another great new entry!
31. Robin Schulz feat. Francesco Yates – Sugar
35. Charlie Puth – One Call Away [34-35] Weird how this is suddenly taking off in the UK after flopping for so long.
Great stuff!
1. :P Unfortunately I'm anticipating Justin to be a one-hit wonder on my chart for the time being! :nocheer:
3. I've gotta disagree, 'Cheyenne' doesn't stand out for me at all although it certainly was hit-worthy. This is potentially my new favorite of his :kink:
13. Amazingly well! They've always had very front-loaded singles in the US but Drag Me Down and Perfect have had fantastic airplay and held up exceptionally well for them! History is just now starting to take off, but so far from hearing it on Radio 1 I'm not keen on it :(
14. Yes, I hope I can send it even higher after some sure-to-be-flawless Grammy and BRIT performances! :D
22. I'm a bit behind, just purchased 1000 Forms of Fear over Christmas (and just a download, not a CD) But I'm pleased she's having a good first week!
35. Probably because it's a proper hit in the US now. I think we'll see that happen more often now where songs will get a second chance if they manage to catch on in the States...although I guess that's not new, back then it would just get re-released :magic:
Thank you for commenting as always! ^_^
Hi Josh!Hello Riser1. Justin Bieber – Sorry [2-2-1]
3. Jason Derulo – Get Ugly I really don't like this, I've always been a fan of his pop bangers but this is just messy, up there with his worst stuff like Wiggle for me, just doesn't sound good on the ears imo
4. The Chainsmokers feat. Rozes – Roses [17-13-4] I love the production on this, each drop has something a bit different and it keeps everything interesting and I think the vocals add a lot too, can't believe this is the same people that did Selfie.
5. Ariana Grande – Focus [8-1-5]
6. Disclosure feat. Lorde – Magnets [16-6]
7. Tinashe feat. Chris Brown – Player [31-22-7]
9. Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out [9-9-9] This band weren't even on my radar before this but I really like this, I love all the falsetto bits and the lyrics are really interesting too, I can see why this has blown up in the US.
11. Ellie Goulding – On My Mind [11-3-6-11]
12. Adele – Hello [1-3-12]
13. One Direction – Perfect [11-7-13]
15. Snakehips feat. Tinashe & Chance The Rapper – All My Friends
17. James Bay – Let It Go [10-17]
18. Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime [27-5-18]
21. DNCE – Cake By The Ocean [26-21]
22. Sia – Alive [20-15-22]
23. David Guetta feat. Sia & Fetty Wap – Bang My Head
25. Flo Rida – My House [28-25] So weird that this is big in the US at the moment but has made almost no impact here when his last few singles have all been top 10, this is one of my faves though actually, has one of those choruses that just refuse to get out of your head.
26. Rachel Platten – Stand By You [24-25-26]
27. Florence + The Machine – Queen Of Peace [23-x-27]
28. Tame Impala – Let It Happen
29. Foals – Mountain At My Gates
30. Dierks Bentley – Somewhere On A Beach
31. Robin Schulz feat. Francesco Yates – Sugar
34. Hailee Steinfeld – Love Myself [1-1-6-19-34]
35. Charlie Puth – One Call Away [34-35]
38. Shawn Mendes feat. Camila Cabello – I Know What You Did Last Summer I was worried at the lack of hit-sounding tracks on the album and was expecting him to be a one hit wonder after Stitches so this came out at the best time possible I think, another very catchy chorus and I like the vocals from both singers too, hope it keeps climbing stateside and grows into another hit for him over here.
39. MNEK & Zara Larsson – Never Forget You [32-12-39]
40. Thomas Rhett – Die A Happy Man [29-40]
3. Well I feel pretty much the exact opposite :P
4. I can't either! Fantastic stuff.
9. They've really perfected their sound and it's such a standout hit here, hopefully it catches on elsewhere!
25. It is weird but the song has had incredible promo and exposure here. And you're right, it's an earworm but not an obvious one!
38. I do too, I would've preferred another single off the album but if this ensures a second hit I'll be satisfied.
Thanks for commenting! :D

Hey John,
Florence STILL top 3!!!!!!!!!!! To be fair, I still love Queen Of Peace as much as I did on first listen, so it's certainly justified. Much love for your #1, you can't help but wonder how Leww finds these smashes every month!!
Let It Happen is by far my fave of the links you posted, Tame Impala are a bit too underrated for as consistently good as they are. On first listen of Faded I was sadly disappointed, but all that hit potential means plenty of chance for it to grow. ;)

Adele's '25' Album Back to No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart for Eighth Week
1/31/2016 by Keith Caulfield
Adele’s 25 returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 after a two-week vacation from the top of the list, as it rises 2-1 in its 10th week on the chart.
The album earned 116,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Jan. 28, according to Nielsen Music (down 21 percent).
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Feb. 13, 2016-dated chart (where Adele returns to at No. 1) will be posted in full to Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
In the latest tracking week, 25 sold another 97,000 in pure album sales (down 20 percent), which brings its cumulative sum to 7.94 million in the U.S. It is likely 25 will reach 8 million sold in the next week.
Justin Bieber’s Purpose climbs 3-2 with 87,000 units (down 5 percent). The former No. 1 album has yet to leave the top three of the chart since it debuted 11 weeks ago.
Rock band Megadeth notches the chart’s highest debut as is Dystopia bows at No. 3 with 49,000 units (48,000 in pure album sales). It’s the highest charting album for the act since 1992’s Countdown to Extinction debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the chart dated Aug. 1 of that year. The new album also logs the group’s best sales week since 2007, when United Abominations launched with 54,000 sold at No. 8.
Twenty One Pilots’ Blurryface ascends 5-4 with 42,000 units (down 6 percent), Panic! at the Disco’s Death of a Bachelor falls 1-5 with 39,000 units (down 79 percent) and David Bowie’s Blackstar slips 4-6 with 35,000 units (down 61 percent). Chris Stapleton’s Traveller rides 8-7 with 34,000 units (down 16 percent), and The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness is up 9-8 with 32,000 units (down 6 percent).
The new 2016 Grammy Nominees compilation album debuts at No. 9 with 31,000 units (all from pure album sales). Last year’s 2015 Grammy nominees set entered at No. 12 with 45,000 sold, on its way to a No. 9 peak three weeks later (65,000), following the Grammy Awards broadcast.
Bryson Tiller’s Trapsoul closes out the top 10, holding at No. 10 with 31,000 units (down 1 percent).
'ANTI'S ARRIVAL: Despite being available for only a fraction of the chart tracking week, Anti starts at No. 27 on the Billboard 200 albums chart dated Feb. 13, bowing after only a little more than a day's worth of activity in the marketplace, as the latest chart's tracking week ended on Jan. 28. (The chart, and all of Billboard's charts dated Feb. 13, will be posted to Billboard.com on Feb. 2.)
Anti was released through Tidal's streaming service on the evening of Jan. 27. (It was not released commercially until Jan. 28 through Tidal, and then through all digital retailers on Jan. 29. A physical CD release for the album is scheduled for Feb. 5.)
The Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The chart's tracking week runs Friday through Thursday each week.
Anti's bow on the chart is largely driven by track sales and streaming activity of its lead single "Work" (it was released at 8 a.m. ET on Jan. 27) along with streams of the album’s tracks. In the week ending Jan. 28 in the U.S., "Work" sold 126,000 downloads and Anti album generated 4.7 million streams for its songs, according to Nielsen Music. A small number of sales for the Anti album were registered in the week ending Jan. 28, but not enough for the set to chart on any of Billboard's pure album sales charts.
Anti's streaming debut on Tidal was concurrent with its availability -- in a limited quantity -- as a free download, supported by Samsung. Anti generated 1.47 million downloads globally in less than 15 hours. Those gratis downloads do not count toward the charts or Nielsen Music's sales figures.
Industry forecasters expect Anti to make a big leap up the Billboard 200 chart next week -- possibly to No. 1 -- after the album has a full week of activity behind it. Prognosticators suggest Anti could shift around 125,000 in equivalent album units in the week ending Feb. 4, which could power the album to No. 1 on the chart dated Feb. 20. If Anti hits the top, it will mark Rihanna's second No. 1, following her previous studio album, 2012's Unapologetic.
-
So, ANTI was deemed eligible to chart this week and debuts at #27. Not really a big deal since it will climb next week on proper sales, and interestingly 460 people managed to purchase a copy before Friday. Adele reclaims #1 for an eighth week, and Justin Bieber reclaims #2. When you look at the breakdown for each component you can see just how little Purpose is selling compared to 25, and all the other albums that are highly boosted by streaming. A #28 debut on less than 15K is surprisingly low for Hoodie Allen after his first release was #8 on 30K just sixteen months ago.
The numbers after the artist and title are: This week's units, % change, last week's units, this week's album sales, this week's song sales, this week's streaming.

I listen to every song twice before putting anything into order, and I'm very particular about not knowing who sent what song so I'm not influenced by the name of the country. I use the MP3s and listen on an iPod Shuffle which doesn't have a screen, and then I have the songs on an iTunes playlist that only shows the artist and song title, which I use to start ranking songs on my third listen. Once I've narrowed it down, I listen to my top 10/15 one or two more times to get the order just right, and then finally I go to the OP and copy/paste the songs into a PM, which is when I finally see which countries I'm voting for! It's very time consuming but that's what it takes for me to be happy with my votes.
