Justin Bieber achieves by far his best sales week this week, as Purpose (his sixth #1 album) opens with 649K, 522K of which are proper sales. His previous best was 374K for Believe in 2012. As for One Direction, this is their first album to miss #1 but they get better opening sales than Four, which started with 387K. Their two biggest debuts are Midnight Memories and Take Me Home, 546K and 540K respectively. Ellie Goulding drops from #3 to #19 and Little Mix plummet from #13 to #90. And if you scroll down far enough you'll see Kylie Christmas, a new entry at #184.

Well, random.org isn't going to give everyone five Semi 1 draws and five Semi 2 draws every year, so getting four of one and six of the other doesn't seem unusual at all. Plus I see you were in Semi 1 only three times last year :P.This makes me realise I've only been drawn in Semi 1 four times this year :oI've voted 'Shivers' for Semi 1, the only one of those I'd given points to, and 'Inside Out' for Semi 2 which I really fell in love with after the contest

Longest climbs on the Hot 100 or just on airplay? RITD went to #1 on the Hot 100 in its 17th week in May 2011, and three weeks later reached #1 on the airplay chart in its 11th week there. Not quite among the longest ever either way but certainly longer than average.Crazy that 'Hello' reached the top of the list in only its fourth week, and what's more is still getting monstrous updates. Particularly notable too when you think of 'Rolling In The Deep's journey to #1 - surely among the longest climbs ever? If I remember correctly, its huge airplay was keeping it atop the Hot 100 when its sales were declining so I assume it peaked very deep into its run (but I can't seem to find the stats to confirm this). -
Here's today's and yesterday's update. Billboard reports that 'Hello' has the fastest climb to #1 on radio since 'Dreamlover' by Mariah Carey in 1993, which also got there in its fourth week. On the weekly airplay chart she climbs from #6 to #1, tied for the biggest leap to #1 with 'Empire State of Mind' in 2009.

Chris Stapleton Spends Second Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart
By Keith Caulfield | November 15, 2015 4:42 PM EST
Chris Stapleton secures a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, as his Traveller effort continues to bask in the glow of the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards. The set shifted another 124,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 12 (down 30 percent), according to Nielsen Music. It sold another 97,000 in pure album sales (down 37 percent).
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Nov. 28-dated chart (where Stapleton is No. 1) will be posted in full to Billboard’s Web sites on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
A week ago, Traveller made history as the first album to reenter the chart at No. 1, as the set jumped back onto the tally after Stapleton’s three CMA Award wins on Nov. 4.
With a second week at No. 1, Traveller is one of only two albums to spend more than a week atop the list in 2015. Earlier in the year, Luke Bryan’s Kill the Lights ruled for its first two frames.
The top two titles on the new Billboard 200 continue to fly the country flag, as Eric Church’s Mr. Misunderstood climbs a spot to No. 2 in its second chart week (65,000 units — down 14 percent; 58,000 in pure album sales — down 18 percent).
The chart’s highest new entry is Ellie Goulding’s Delirium, which debuts at No. 3 (61,000 units; 42,000 in pure album sales), giving the singer/songwriter her highest charting album yet. It surpasses the No. 9 debut and peak of her last studio effort, Halcyon, in 2012. Goulding also charted with her debut set, Lights (No. 21 in 2012) and an iTunes Session EP (No. 190 in 2013).
Goulding’s new album also marks the highest debut ever for the Cherrytree Records label (the album was released on Cherrytree through Interscope Records). It’s also the highest charting set for Cherrytree since 2010, when Lady Gaga’s The Fame spent three weeks in the top three (peaking at No. 2 on Jan. 16, 2010).
Delirium was led by the single “On My Mind.” It’s Goulding’s fifth top 20-charting track on the Billboard Hot 100, having reached No. 18 so far. The new album also contains her contribution to the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, “Love Me Like You Do,” which climbed to No. 3 earlier in 2015.
Another artist who was also on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, The Weeknd, rises one rung on the new Billboard 200 to No. 4 with his former No. 1 album Beauty Behind the Madness (46,000 units).
Country superstar Tim McGraw bows at No. 5 with Damn Country Music (43,000 units; 39,000 in pure album sales). It’s McGraw’s 17th top 10 album. His last studio set, 2014’s Sundown Heaven Town, debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 71,000 sold in its first week.
The Beatles’ successful greatest hits package 1 returns to the list, reentering at No. 6 with 40,000 units (up 1,528 percent) and with 39,000 sold (up 2,623 percent). The former No. 1 (which spent eight nonconsecutive weeks atop the list in 2000 and 2001) bounds back onto the chart following its reissue on Nov. 6. It was rereleased in a variety of new formats, including sets that boasted music videos for each of the album’s 27 songs.
The Now 56 compilation slips 4-7 in its second week with 38,000 units (down 34 percent), Fetty Wap’s self-titled debut dips 6-8 with 37,000 (down 7 percent) and Carrie Underwood’s Storyteller falls 2-9 in its third week with 33,000 (down 59 percent).
Closing out the top 10 is Sara Bareilles’ What’s Inside: Songs From Waitress, which starts at No. 10 with 30,000 units (27,000 from pure album sales). It’s the fifth top 10 effort for the singer/songwriter, who last hit the top 10 in 2013 with The Blessed Unrest (debuting and peaking at No. 2).
The new album features songs written for the stage musical Waitress, which will open on Broadway on April 24, 2016. (Bareilles wrote the show’s music and lyrics.)

Ellie Goulding finally gets a higher-charting album than Little Mix this week. Ellie peaked at #21 with Lights and #9 with Halcyon, the latter selling 34K in its opening week, compared to 42K sales and 61 total units for Delirium which is at #3, a new career peak for her. Little Mix, on the other hand, had a #4 debut for DNA and #6 for Salute but settle for #13 for Get Weird. They sold 21,853 copies last week, compared to a 40,414 opening for Salute and over 50K for DNA. Neither of those were released in Q4 though, Salute was in Feb. 2014 and DNA was in May 2013. Still, that's a shame, I would have expected better after 'Black Magic' did relatively well.

Justin Bieber Scores Sixth No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart With 'Purpose'
By Keith Caulfield | November 22, 2015 3:35 PM EST
Justin Bieber earns his sixth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as his new release Purpose debuts atop the tally.
The set -- released Nov. 13 through SchoolBoy/Raymound Braun/Def Jam -- earned 649,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Nov. 19, according to Nielsen Music. That’s the largest weekly unit total for an album since the Billboard 200 began tracking popularity based on overall equivalent units earned in December of 2014. (It beats the debut week of Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, which launched with 535,000 units.)
Further, Purpose sold 522,000 in pure album sales -- Bieber’s largest sales week ever. It surpasses his previous high, logged with Believe sold 374,000 in its first week back in 2012. Also impressive, Purpose’s 522,000 is the biggest sales week for an album since Taylor Swift’s 1989 debuted with 1.29 million (week ending Nov. 2, 2014), and the largest for a male artist’s album since Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 bowed with 792,000 (week ending Nov. 10, 2013).
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Dec. 5-dated chart (where Bieber is No. 1) will be posted in full to Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Purpose is the entertainer’s fifth straight set to open at No. 1, following Believe: Acoustic (in 2013), Believe (2012), Under the Mistletoe (2011) and Never Say Never: The Remixes (EP) (2011).
Before that, Bieber also hit the chart with My Worlds Acoustic (No. 7 in Dec. 2010), My World 2.0 (No. 1 in April 2010) and My World (EP) (No. 5 in April 2010).
Bieber leads a very busy week on the Billboard 200, where a near-record eight albums debut in the top 10. It’s only the fourth time in chart history we’ve had eight debuts in the region. It last happened on the list dated May 21, 2011. Before that, it occurred on Dec. 4, 2010 and Oct. 17, 2009.
Behind Bieber on the new Billboard 200 is the also-arriving One Direction, which launches at No. 2 with Made In the A.M. (459,000 units; 402,000 in pure album sales).
Impressively, this week marks the first time two albums have sold at least 400,000 in the same week since Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream and Alicia Keys’ The Element of Freedom sold 661,000 and 417,000, respectively, in the week ending Dec. 20, 2009. Further, the Bieber/One Direction combo is the first time two debuting albums sold more than 400,000 in the same frame since Kanye West’s Graduation and 50 Cent’s Curtis opened with 957,000 and 691,000 in the week ending Sept. 16, 2007.
Certainly, interest in the Bieber vs. One Direction battle for No. 1 stirred sales for both albums. The two sets sold far more than initially predicted. Before their release, industry forecasters suggested each title was tracking to start with around 300,000 in pure album sales.
Also starting in the new top 10: Logic’s The Incredible True Story (No. 3), Jeezy’s Church In These Streets (No. 4), Chris Young’s I’m Comin’ Over (No. 5), Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Letters From the Labyrinth (No. 7), Alessia Cara’s Know-It-All (No. 9) and Kirk Franklin’s Losing My Religion (No. 10).
Notably, the Def Jam label owns three out of the top four albums (Bieber, Logic and Jeezy) and four in the top 10 (Cara is also on Def Jam). The last label to score three out of the top four on the chart was Columbia Records on June 16, 2012. That week, John Mayer’s Born and Raised at No. 1, Adele’s 21 (on XL/Columbia) was No. 2 and One Direction’s Up All Night (on SYCO/Columbia) was No. 4.

A near-record eight debuts arrive in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Dec. 5), led by Justin Bieber’s Purpose at No. 1 and One Direction's Made in the A.M. at No. 2.
It’s only the fourth time in chart history we’ve had eight debuts in the region. It last happened on the list dated May 21, 2011. Before that, it occurred on Dec. 4, 2010 and Oct. 17, 2009.
Also starting in the top 10: Logic’s The Incredible True Story (No. 10).
For One Direction, Made In the A.M. gives the vocal quartet its fifth straight album to debut in the top two of the chart, following four consecutive No. 1 albums. The new set launches with 459,000 in equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 19, according to Nielsen Music (of which 402,000 are in pure album sales). That sales start surpasses the bow of the group’s last album, 2014’s Four, which entered the list with 387,000 sold.
Rapper Logic launches at No. 3 on the new Billboard 200 with The Incredible True Story (135,000 units; 118,000 in album sales). It’s Logic’s best rank yet on the chart, and his highest sales frame. (He previously hit the top 10 with Under Pressure in 2014, which debuted and peaked at No. 4).
Jeezy jumps onto the new Billboard 200 at No. 4 with Church In These Streets (107,000 units; 98,000 in album sales). It’s his seventh consecutive top 10 album (his entire chart history), and follows the No. 2-peaking Seen In All: The Autobiography in 2014.
Country singer Chris Young debuts at No. 5 with I’m Comin’ Over (65,000 units; 57,000 in album sales). It’s the second-largest sales week for Young, as only the debut of his 2011 album Neon (73,000) was bigger.
The new album’s title track recently gave Young his sixth No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart (dated Nov. 28). It’s his first chart-topper on the list since 2012’s “You” (Feb. 11, 2012).
Last week’s No. 1, Chris Stapleton’s Traveller, falls to No. 6 with 53,000 units (down 57 percent).
Trans-Siberian Orchestra collects its third top 10 album as Letters From the Labyrinth starts at No. 7 with 46,000 units (nearly all from pure album sales). The act also hit the region with Dreams of Fireflies (On a Christmas Night) (EP) in 2012 (No. 9) and Night Castle in 2009 (No. 5).
The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness drops 4-8 with 43,000 units (down 8 percent).
Nearly the end of the top 10, Alessia Cara’s debut full-length album Know-It-All arrives at No. 9 with 36,000 units (22,000 in pure album sales). The album was led by her hit single “Here,” which has so-far peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Rounding out the top 10 is gospel superstar Kirk Franklin with his new album Losing My Religion, which debuts at No. 10 with 35,000 units (33,000 in album sales). It’s the fifth top 10 effort for Franklin, who last hit the chart in 2011 with the No. 5-peaking Hello Fear.
