  1. Definitely a shame that Love Too Deep missed out on chart success! But hard to complain when the rest of your top 10 did soooo well.

Great countdown, I didn't expect to love (or even know) as many songs as I did! Also you did a fantastic job presenting them so it was an enjoyable thread to follow. That recap post is so pretty

  2. I wouldn't say Glow is THAT underrated on here, really! It was #1 on the multichart and the reshuffle chart, and I haven't seen any hate for it at all. I also prefer it to Ghost and it did definitely underperform as a single. And she's still gonna get dropped :P

I think I know who will win but don't wanna spoil it. Either way I'm excited for it to be revealed!

  3. Honorable mentions: A few songs that would've featured had I started this a little later! I'm ready to be done with this so they won't get full commentary, just a brief mention.

    Alesso feat. Tove Lo "Heroes"

    jMWQKwdBCPs.jpg

Nothing new is brought to the table here, but Alesso does the trick here nevertheless. I definitely like this more for Tove Lo's vocals but they do fit Alesso's track nicely so no shade!

Ariana Grande feat. The Weeknd "Love Me Harder"

    http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l219/Yoshi538/4000de16-2c43-43b3-a661-2aaeeb8b4f2c.png

I'm not a fan of this style of pop. On first listen I quickly noticed similarities to "Do What U Want", which I always found overrated. But there's a lot of beauty in this collab, and I'm pretty hooked on it now! The Weeknd's verse is lovely.

    Magic! "Let Your Hair Down"

    http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l219/Yoshi538/ed393df4-bf0b-4e2c-ba7d-cf24bdbd4cc6.jpg

This is a terrific follow-up to "Rude"; of course I'm disappointed it did precisely nothing anywhere beside their homeland of Canada. The guitar solo is even better than the one on "Rude"!

    Meghan Trainor "Lips Are Movin'"

    http://0.tqn.com/y/top40/1/L/u/q/3/meghan-trainor-lips-are-movin.jpg

Currently #1 on my personal chart, it turns out "All About That Bass" is even better in the form of its non-gimmick soundalike. The video is still an attention-grabber with Meghan's cat outfit among other things. Why Meghan can easily avoid one-hit-wonder status and Magic! can't, I'll never know :(.

Okay that's the end of that! Roughly 60 songs have featured, some will make my EOY countdown and others won't. Plus some songs I haven't mentioned yet will do well on the countdown. It's tentatively going to be a top 60. Still not sure how it's all gonna go but it'll be a little less effort hopefully. Ranking songs is hard. Fingers crossed I'll start tomorrow but it could be anytime this weekend. Hope you'll look out for it!

  4. can someone pls provide me with my run? I want to come face-to-face with my tamperer (feat. maya) run

Won't bother with mine, I only appeared ten times and peaked at #37. Would've loved to be in the top 50 posters of the year but no chance!

  5. I'll do a late prediction :D

1 Idina Menzel- Let It Go

    2 Ella Henderson- Ghost

3 Taylor Swift- Shake It Off

4 Lana Del Rey- West Coast

5 Kristen Bell- Do You Want To Build A Snowman

6 Iggy Azalea Ft Charli XCX- Fancy

7 Kristen Bell Ft Idina Menzel- For The First Time In Forever

    8 Taylor Swift- Blank Space

    9 Christina Perri- Human

10 Paloma Faith- Only Love Can Hurt Like This

11 Meghan Trainor- All About That Bass

    12 G.R.L- Ugly Heart

13 The Band Perry- If I Die Young

14 The Veronicas- You Ruin Me

15 Lily Allen- Hard Out Here

  6. 'Summer' reinvested me in Calvin after not really feeling many of his previous singles prior. Extremely euphoric and his vocal contributions have a certain charm to them. His album is a bit underwhelming on the whole, but there are definite standouts on there!
I agree, it was great to hear Calvin singing again after previously saying he was done singing on his records.

LOVE 'Money On My Mind' and I'm thrilled for it to be so high! Few will agree obvs but I find it very underrated on here.

  7. Skyscraper gaining two weeks at the top is very surprising!

Would've been nice to see a couple of songs be promoted to #1 but I can see why that didn't happen. So 24 #1s in the end, compared to 23 in 2013 and 27 in 2012 from the previous installments of the thread. I also checked 2000 since it had similar turnover of official #1, and 2000 ended up with 30 #1s in this thread. Interesting!

    Thanks Gezza!

  8. No surprise to see an all female top 10
An all female top 15 actually! Oh Buzzjack. But I love the top 9, would've preferred Shake It Off to take #10 over Blank Space.

Had to double check the voting thread to make sure Don't really had only 37 points :drama: I provided 30% of its points total, wut.

  9. 34. Sigma/Paloma Faith - Changing

    Chart Run:

    {1}-2-4-8-7-8-11-15-19-27-42-45-46-42-53}

I didn't realize this had only 10 weeks in the top 40  In that case I'm impressed 'Changing' made it to #34 for the year (thankfully 6 of those 10 weeks were in the top 8)!

  10. Hi everyone! :hi:

An X Factor favourite. For some reason I think that had it not been performed so many times it probably wouldn't be in the top 40.

You're probably right seeing as it's just scraped in. Maybe Say Something was behind Loyal and A Sky Full Of Stars before it was performed on X Factor.

  11. I'm so looking forward to this after we didn't get one of these countdowns last year! I've been avoiding Vidcapper's thread for months in preparation, no idea where any songs going to end up (except for a few obvious ones near the top). Also looking forward to the hosts presenting it all here, would've loved to take a slot if it wasn't for the time difference :drama:

With that, I'm off to bed! Have fun :D

  12. Interesting to see Shot Me Down as your top Guetta track. I wouldn't disagree, it's very underrated, but admittedly I'm a big fan of Skylar Grey.

I randomly heard The Days for the first time this morning, when it was playing on the radio as my alarm clock went off :o Hard to judge a song when you're just waking up, but it was better than I expected considering the lack of hype/support. Ah well, Avicii will have a much better 2015 ^_^

  13. Hi Riser

Not a fan of your #1 actually her music really grates on me and sounds the same.

    2. Maroon 5 – Animals [1-1-2]

    38. The Script – Superheroes [38-34-22-38]

Hi! Too bad Meghan grates on you, guess you're not looking forward to her 2nd UK smash! At least you like my #2 ^_^

As you can see Ghost took a very long time to finally click with me, maybe it'll be one of my faves of 2015 if it keeps growing. I'm a bigger fan of Glow.

    Thanks for commenting!

Didn't know you were such a big fan of 'Lips Are Movin'' :o! I quite like it and it's definitely superior to its predecessor.

Nice to see big climbs into the top 10 for 'Jealous' (thanks for the recommendation!), 'Ghost' and 'Waves', the latter two quite the gradual growers for you it seems. Some great stuff throughout, particularly the debuts of Mark Ronson, Lorde, Take That and Selena scraping it in. :D

Yeah I never mentioned that :o The "buy me diamond earrings and deny-ny-ny" part gets me every time, it's perfect

Ghost and Waves were indeed very, very gradual growers. I'm glad I can finally appreciate them :D

(jk die waves die :puke2:) Thanks Andy!

    Hey Jordan :cheer:

    1. Meghan Trainor – Lips Are Movin’ [27-1]

    2. Maroon 5 – Animals [1-1-2]

    4. Taylor Swift – Blank Space [7-4] This is one of the most gorgeous songs ever written and sung in my view. Out Of The Woods is just gorgeous too

    6. Sam Smith – I’m Not The Only One [2-6]

    8. Ariana Grande feat. The Weeknd – Love Me Harder [8-8] Nowhere near as big a hit as I thought it was gonna be

    9. Ella Henderson – Ghost [35-32-9] This is properly growing on you I see. One of the finest debut tracks ever!

    10. Mr. Probz – Waves [26-16-10]

    11. One Direction – Steal My Girl [17-3-11]

    14. Hozier – Take Me To Church [20-14]

    21. Take That – These Days

    25. One Direction – Night Changes

    27. Gwen Stefani – Baby Don’t Lie  Not quite the Comeback I'd hoped for but I think it's great nonetheless.

    30. OneRepublic – I Lived [11-30]

    34. Band Aid 30 – Do They Know It’s Christmas? (2014)

    36. Fall Out Boy – Centuries [29-37-36]

    40. Selena Gomez – The Heart Wants What It Wants I think this is quite poor if I'm honest.

    Brilliant chart c

    Hi James!

    4. I always prefer country Taylor so will probably have to disagree! It's still a good album though, just listened to it the other day ^_^

    8. Same  Break Free should've peaked higher too :(

    9. That's right, it really took a long time!

    20. Yes, love it :D

    27. Sounds pretty weak compared to her older songs, but still enjoyable because it's Gwen!

    40. I think so too. It grew on me a little but Selena has soooooo many better songs.

    Thanks for commenting!

  18. Usher "Good Kisser"

    http://www.usherfix.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/ushgoodkisser1-300x300.jpg

Usher has struggled to land a proper hit lately but I'm so glad he hasn't resorted to another "Scream" or "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love". That said, there's still something missing with his recent efforts. I can't quite place it but it just seems like Usher's trying too hard. "Good Kisser" is enjoyable but comes across as a little bit forced and unnatural. "She Came To Give It To You" gave me the same impression. I'm really not surprised that they both failed to catch on. Of course, the Disclosure remix of "Good Kisser" came at just the right time to soften its plummet down the charts. But otherwise, Usher learned the hard way that it takes more than a brief coaching stint on The Voice to get your new music to sell. It seems Gwen Stefani is learning the same lesson now.

Walk The Moon "Shut Up And Dance"

    http://musicimg.cyworld.com/ALBUM/015/411/15411129.jpg

This beautiful moment in music came out of nowhere near the end of a 2.5-hour drive, by myself, back in September. I didn't even know Walk The Moon had a new song, they just introduced it on the radio and I was NOT READY. Having previously loved "Anna Sun" and "Tightrope", my thought was that "Shut Up And Dance" was a sellout-ish song title. And then they played it, and the rest is history. An 80s arena-rock floorfiller!? Sounded like an epic smash in the first ten seconds; it was very smart of them to put the chorus at the beginning. The first line is "don't you dare look back", and indeed they do not, keeping that energy going until the very last note.

The very unfortunate BJSC incident involving this song has not affected my love for it. Considering my record, it was best left in someone else's hands anyway. The end result (top five!) was surprising, fully deserved, and a sign of how much crossover appeal "Shut Up And Dance" has. Radio really needs to take notice; some airplay would work in their favor because we're talking about a power-pop masterpiece here. But at the very least, this was a spectacular anthem for the last few months of 2014.

Young The Giant "It's About Time"

Young The Giant "Mind Over Matter"

    http://www.volarefm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/young-the-giant-its-about-time.jpghttp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/ae/Young_the_Giant_Mind_over_Matter.jpg

My favorite rock station changed to Spanish music last year at midnight on January 1st. "It's About Time" was my last memory of that station and I've carried it with me through 2014 despite now listening to a lot less rock as a result. Young The Giant's first album was in 2011 (perhaps you've heard "My Body" or "Cough Syrup") and it sounded like they've been charging ever since, waiting to explode from the very first note of "It's About Time" (an appropriate title, lol). Just like "Shut Up And Dance" in the last paragraph, the song grabs you right away and never lets go. For a band that's already known for exhilirating music and explosive vocals, they took it up another notch this time.

After a very long time spent hammering that song I eventually checked out another one, the title track "Mind Over Matter". It's also good so I'm including it here, but I don't have much else to say really, except that it's much more subdued, trading the guitars for strings and keyboards. But nine times out of ten I'll opt for "It's About Time".

  19. Thanks as always for the comments! Only a couple posts left after this :D

omg I forgot Jameela's reactions to that Trey Songz track  Amazing.

LOVING Sara Bareilles here, even if I can't remember I Choose You at all  Shakira was fabulous this year, Can't Remember To Forget You is a HUGE jam and Empire was very impressive and different for her!

I Choose You is the only song I've heard from the album, other than Brave

YASSSSSSSSSSSS :yahoo:  I agree about the '2 On' video now. It really helps bring the song alive and adds her wonderful personality to it moreso.

And the bit in bold is a challenge if ever i saw one! I will convince you to listen to it before i'm done with you Mr. :hitler:

Please do convince me, I'd hate to become a sillybean :o

I really like Na Na, not happy with that shade there! I'm fond of a good old urban jam and that's what is delivered by Na Na. Trey is pretty decent actually, I've liked a lot of his singles. Bottoms Up >> Touchin, Lovin >> the rest :cheer:

Glad to see Tinashe here too, another big Pretend fan is great to see. I agree the drumbeat elevates the song and that's what I really noticed that I loved about the track first. 2 On is very nice too, another urban jam :P

Oh gosh, reading it back now I didn't mean to be so harsh :( I definitely liked it at the time but not as much now. Starting to prefer "Smartphones" of his singles from this era at least!

Oh yeah I need to get The Pretty Reckless' album sometime, those are the two singles from it I haven't heard and since Going To Hell/Follow You Down were so damn amazing those probably are also. I am a flop fan of theirs right now.

Nice to see those two highlights from Paramore's album too, Daydreaming is so lovely and while I've listened to Ain't It Fun a bit too much it still remains a cool song.

Wow, I'm surprised both of those have passed you by! Actually I was the opposite, with Going To Hell/Follow You Down both passing me by until just recently.

Didn't know it was possible to listen to Ain't It Fun too much :o
