Eek, that's probably the worst I've ever misjudged sending an entry in UP :( Not that I regret it because I love the song, but I definitely expected more than 4 votes!
Congrats Cody, what an amazing run you're having here! Yay for three of my votes making the top 10 (Nathan Micay, Calva Louise and Eli Mich). Kind of surprised to have given Mohini Dey more than a quarter of its points, but a brilliant entry nonetheless. I'd have liked to see CRUZ higher too even if I only gave it 1 point.
Great job hosting, Kath, thank you! Definitely looking forward to the next edition so I can swiftly avenge missing last place on a tiebreak!

10 1263 Troye Sivan - Rush (69-10-6-4-5-5-6-7-5-7-7-14-13-16-14-17-20-25-28-38-35-58-xx) [22 wks]
Troye took a pretty long break between music releases, but it was worth the wait as lead single 'Rush' became one of the summer's anthems (or perhaps a winter anthem in his home country :kink:), with a #4 peak, 10 weeks in the top 10, and it places at #10 in the EOY! All richly deserved for what will hopefully be a defining song of his career.

30. Chase & Status feat. Bou, Irah, Flowdan, Trigga & Takura "Baddadan"
With the likes of Kylie, Madonna and Shania Twain having comebacks to varying extents, the revival of Chase & Status is not to be overlooked, and was perhaps the most random and unexpected of all. While 'Blind Faith' was #27 in my end-of-decade, I otherwise wouldn't consider myself a fan, but I did miss drum and bass, and something about 'Baddadan' eventually clicked with me in a big way. A brilliant effort by all!
29. Miley Cyrus "Jaded"
As I mentioned, 'Flowers' burned out quickly for me, so I was ready for more music by the time the album released. On first listen, my reactions to 'River' and 'Jaded' were polar opposites, with the latter being the one I knew I'd come back to. I'm glad it was a single, even if 'Flowers' overshadowed it and hampered its potential (not to sound like Hadji). The song complements Miley's raspy vocals and I just love its retro flavor. Just hearing it on the radio over the summer was enough for me.
Previous EOY history: "Adore You" (#31, 2014), "Feelin' Myself" (#59, 2014), "Malibu" (#40, 2017), "Mother's Daughter" (#2, 2019), "Don't Call Me Angel" (#21, 2019), "Slide Away" (#28, 2019), "Midnight Sky" (#11, 2020)
28. Loreen "Tattoo"
2012 was one of my favorite years of music, with 'Euphoria' being one of its many highlights. I'm still in awe that Loreen managed to win Melodifestivalen AND Eurovision all over again, 11 years later. It definitely felt like déjà vu in the best way. While I prefer 'Euphoria', 'Tattoo' is still pretty spectacular, and it was interesting to see how she would chart in the streaming era, compared to the download era. Much better, as it turns out! It more than made up for the 4-week top 40 run of 'Euphoria' and had some proper longevity, so I feel like justice was served.
27. Olivia Rodrigo "Get Him Back!"
'Get Him Back!' is the first of three Guts singles in my top 30! I was going to praise Olivia rapping on the verses, but I'm not sure if it's rapping or just talking. Either way, it builds up to one of her best choruses to date. The lyrics play with the double-meaning of the song title which is clever too. Ultimately, it was a hit, although I think the other two singles overshadowed it a bit, including in my own affections. That said, it matches where 'Drivers License' placed in my EOY two years before, and they also shared a #3 peak in my chart…just a coincidence though!
Previous EOY history: "Deja Vu" (#1, 2021), "Drivers License" (#27, 2021), "Good 4 U" (#38, 2021)
26. Dierks Bentley "Gold"
This is the highest Dierks has been in my EOY for almost a decade! He's become more of a legacy artist for me, where I'll listen to his new songs and appreciate them, but generally stick to the songs I grew up hearing on the radio. 'Gold' managed to grow into a song I like as much as his classics. It helped that I saw him live when the song was near its peak, which was a great moment. And so I declare this to enter the Dierks canon!
Previous EOY history: "I Hold On" (#14, 2014), "Drunk On A Plane" (#35, 2014), "Riser" (#42, 2015), "Somewhere On A Beach" (#55, 2016), "Burning Man" (#56, 2018), "Woman, Amen" (#57, 2018), "Gone" (#61, 2021)
25. Mimi Webb "Red Flags"
I've been a Mimi Webb fan, albeit a very casual one, since 'Before I Go' was sent to BJSC, and I've enjoyed watching her break through over the past few years. 'Red Flags' is the most uptempo song I've heard from her, and also became my favorite! It's honestly tragic that it wasn't Mimi's third top 10, let alone her biggest hit to date, and especially that it has to share a peak with 'Dumb Love,' although at least it wasn't a lower peak. Anyway, we'll see if she continues to show versatility as an artist.
24. Jonas Brothers "Waffle House"
I wasn't too impressed with previous single 'Wings', but 'Waffle House' got me hyped for the Jonas Brothers all over again. They pack a lot of energy into two and a half minutes, and the same can be said about the majority of their album. They've still got it! Unnecessary fact: I think I've been to Waffle House once ever, maybe twice.
Previous EOY history: "Only Human" (#5, 2019), "Sucker" (#55, 2019), "Leave Before You Love Me" (#36, 2021)
23. Casso, Raye & D-Block Europe "Prada"
Raye probably doesn't endorse this song, but I will.
While it pains me a bit to give D-Block Europe any sort of praise, 'Ferrari Horses' was the one hit of theirs I enjoyed. I don't know what inspired Casso to turn it into 'Prada', but it was a very unexpected stroke of genius. The tempo change alone was a massive improvement, and the production gives it more energy and elevates it further.
Previous EOY history for Raye: "Secrets" (#51, 2010)
22. Troye Sivan "Rush"
Troye made a triumphant return with 'Rush', making the long wait for new music worthwhile with just this song, let alone the ones that followed! The title speaks for itself really, and the exquisite piano-house production is a perfect fit, as is the music video. It all feels very authentic to Troye and I'm so proud of him having this moment nearly a decade after his debut. Hopefully this is remembered as a career-defining era for him; it sure seems like it deserves to be!
Previous EOY history: "Youth" (#8, 2016), "My My My!" (#37, 2018), "1999" (#53, 2018), "I'm So Tired…" (#16, 2019), "Take Yourself Home" (#49, 2020)
21. Rema & Selena Gomez "Calm Down"
I vaguely recall being impressed when 'Calm Down' first went top 10 and top 3…now it seems like such an obvious hit! I did mostly overlook it until the Selena Gomez version was released, and even then it took two or three months to grow on me. I do need a loooong break from hearing it now, but still had to leave it this high because I loved it for a while!
Previous EOY history for Selena: "Bad Liar" (#12, 2017), "Lose You To Love Me" (#14, 2019), "Look At Her Now" (#60, 2019), "Past Life" (#41, 2020)

Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Vultures 1’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart
By Keith Caulfield | 02/18/2024
Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) and Ty Dolla $ign’s joint project Vultures 1 debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Feb. 24), giving Ye his 11th leader and Ty his first. The set earned 148,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 15, according to Luminate, following its release on Feb. 10.
Plus, Usher scores his highest charting album on the Billboard 200 in over a decade, as his latest studio release Coming Home bows at No. 2 with 91,000 units earned.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.
Of Vultures 1’s 148,000 units earned in the tracking week ending Feb. 15, SEA units comprise 129,000 (equaling 167.78 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs), album sales comprise 18,000 and TEA units comprise 1,000.
Vultures 1 was only initially available via streaming services and as a digital download album for purchase. The original 16-track set was available through all major streamers, and sold through leading digital retailers, as well as Ye’s own official webstore. Physical versions of the album on CD and vinyl are expected to be released at a later date, and Ye’s store is accepting pre-orders for both presently. The set’s first-week sales were boosted by aggressive sale pricing.
The album boasts appearances from collaborators Travis Scott, Playboi Carti and Chris Brown, though none are given billed artist credit on the tracklist. Ye’s 10-year-old daughter North also contributes vocals to the set’s “Talking.”
Vultures 1 is the first studio album for both Ye and Ty released outside of the major label system, and arrived on Feb. 10 via Ye’s own label YZY after a number of delays (it was originally slated for release last October). Vultures 1 is Ye’s first album since his string of hate speech and antisemitic remarks, which resulted in companies like Adidas and Def Jam Recordings distancing themselves from Ye. (Def Jam released all of Ye’s previous studio albums, including his last widely released album, 2021’s Donda.)
Vultures 1 was issued on Feb. 10 and had a bumpy first-week in the marketplace. Its initial independent distributor, FUGA, took down the project on Feb. 15. The set then found a home with another indie, Label Engine (part of Create Music Group), that same day.
Meanwhile, one of tracks initially included on the Vultures 1 — “Good (Don’t Die)” — was removed from the streaming edition of the album on Feb. 14 on Spotify, and then other streamers and digital retailers on Feb. 15. The song appears to interpolate elements of Donna Summer’s 1977 single “I Feel Love,” which Summer’s estate claimed West used without permission and alleged “copyright infringement.” On Feb. 15, with “Good” removed from the album’s tracklist, the album was no longer purchasable in digital retailers like the iTunes Store and Amazon. (It was, however, still available to buy, with “Good” intact, through Ye’s official webstore.)
Ye ties Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand with 11 No. 1s each. Ahead of them are only The Beatles (a record 19 No. 1s), Jay-Z (14), Drake and Taylor Swift (each with 13). Vultures 1 is Ye’s 11th consecutive charting album to debut at No. 1, the most of any artist. (Overall, Jay-Z has the most debuts at No. 1, with 14, but they were not consecutive.)
For Ty, Vultures 1 brings him his first leader and second top 10-charting effort. He’s logged a total of eight entries on the list, going as high as No. 4 in 2020 with Featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
Vultures 1 was preceded by the single “Vultures,” featuring Bump J, which reached No. 38 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in December.
At No. 2 on the Billboard 200, Usher achieves his highest-charting album in over a decade, as his new studio set Coming Home starts in the runner-up slot. The album was released on Feb. 9 and earned 91,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 15. Of that sum, album sales comprise 53,000, SEA units comprise 34,500 (equaling 45.82 million official on-demand streams of the set’s songs) and TEA units comprise 3,500.
Coming Home’s release date was announced last September, hot on the heels of news that Usher would headline the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 11.
The 2024 Super Bowlitself was the most-watched broadcast in American TV history, with 123.4 million viewers across CBS and the game’s simulcasts across Nickelodeon, Univision, Paramount+ and other digital platforms. Usher didn’t perform any material from the new album during the halftime show, focusing instead on familiar favorites from the past, such as “My Boo” (with Alicia Keys), “U Got It Bad” (with H.E.R.) “OMG” (with will.i.am) and the show-closing “Yeah!” (with Lil Jon and Ludacris).
Coming Home marks Usher’s ninth top 10-charting album on the Billboard 200 and his highest-ranking set since Looking 4 Myself debuted at No. 1 in June of 2012. He then charted with Hard II Love (No. 5 in 2016) and the collaborative set A with Zaytoven (No. 31 in 2018).
Coming Home is Usher’s first independently distributed album after a career with majors BMG and Sony (through the labels LaFace, Arista and RCA). The new project was released via mega (Usher’s own company in partnership with L.A. Reid) and Gamma (helmed by Larry Jackson), and distributed by Vydia (part of the Gamma organization).
Coming Home was available to purchase in its first week as a standard digital download, a standard CD, five different vinyl variants, two deluxe boxed sets and a deluxe digital album with a bonus track and alternative cover art. The latter was promoted as a SKIMS exclusive (alongside Usher’s new starring role in a SKIMS campaign) and sold for a limited time via SKIMS’ official store and Usher’s own webstore. Like Vultures 1, the Coming Home digital album was deeply discounted during its first week.
Coming Home was preceded by the single “Good Good,” with Summer Walker and 21 Savage. The track peaked at No. 25 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 in November, marking Usher’s first top 40 since 2017, and highest-charting track since 2015, when “I Don’t Mind,” featuring Juicy J, reached No. 11.
Noah Kahan’s Stick Season climbs 5-3 on the Billboard 200, matching its peak rank, spurred by the release of its new deluxe edition. Stick Season surges with 85,000 equivalent album units earned (up 74% — its best week yet by units earned), following the bow of a deluxe edition of the album on Feb. 9 with nine additional tracks. That deluxe iteration is dubbed Stick Season (Forever) and added collaborations with Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves and others. The original Stick Season album debuted in 2022 with 14 tracks, was deluxed last June with an additional seven tracks (which prompted its jump from No. 100 to No. 3), and then deluxed again on Feb. 9 with nine more tracks. All versions of the album are combined for tracking and charting purposes.
The rest of the top 10 on the new Billboard 200 is comprised of former No. 1s: Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time falls 2-4 (64,000 equivalent album units earned; down 1%), SZA’s SOS dips 3-5 (51,000; down 4%), Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) rises 8-6 (50,000; up 3%), Taylor Swift’s Lover moves 9-7 (48,000; up 7%), Taylor Swift’s Midnights falls 5-8 (46,000; down 9%), Toby Keith’s 35 Biggest Hits tumbles 1-9 (46,000; down 31%) and Drake’s For All the Dogs descends 6-10 (45,000; down 8%).
Usher’s ‘Coming Home’ Debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales Chart
By Keith Caulfield | 02/19/2024
Usher lands his fifth No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart (dated Feb. 24) as his new studio album, Coming Home, arrives atop the list. The set sold 53,000 copies in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 15, according to Luminate. Usher previously topped the list with Looking 4 Myself (in 2012), Raymond V Raymond (2010), Here I Stand (2008) and Confessions (2004).
Elsewhere in the top 10 of the new Top Album Sales chart, the latest albums from P1Harmony, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, and iTZY arrive.
Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on traditional album sales. The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Billboard began tabulating charts with electronically monitored piece count information from SoundScan, now Luminate. Pure album sales were the sole measurement utilized by the Billboard 200 albums chart through the list dated Dec. 6, 2014, after which that chart switched to a methodology that blends album sales with track equivalent album units and streaming equivalent album units.
Of Coming Home’s 53,000 copies sold, digital sales comprise 47,500 and physical sales comprise 5,500 (4,000 on CD and 1,500 on vinyl). Its start marks the largest sales week for an R&B album in more than four years, since Lionel Richie’s live set Hello From Las Vegas sold 65,000 copies in its first week (on the list dated Aug. 31, 2019). Richie’s first-week sales were boosted by a concert ticket/album sale redemption offer. Ticket/album bundles ceased to count toward chart sales as of Oct. 9, 2020. (R&B albums are defined as those that have charted on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart.)
Both versions of the digital album were deeply discounted during the set’s opening week.
Coming Home was released on Feb. 9, two days before Usher took the stage as the 2024 Super Bowl halftime headliner. The 2024 Super Bowl was the most-watched broadcast in American TV history, with 123.4 million viewers across CBS and the game’s simulcasts across Nickelodeon, Univision, Paramount+ and other digital platforms.
P1Harmony’s Killin’ It debuts at No. 2 on Top Album Sales with 18,000 copies sold – nearly all from CD sales. Like many K-pop projects, the set was issued in collectible CD packages, 16 in total, each containing branded merchandise and randomized elements. It’s the best sales week for P1Harmony, its highest-charting effort, and second top 10.
Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaborative album Vultures 1 starts at No. 3 with 18,000 sold – all from digital downloads.
Vultures 1, released on Feb. 10, was initially only available to purchase as a digital download. The original 16-track set sold through leading digital retailers, as well as Ye’s own official webstore. Physical versions of the album on CD and vinyl are expected to be released at a later date, and Ye’s store is accepting pre-orders for both presently. The set’s first-week sales were boosted by aggressive sale pricing. Vultures 1 is the 12th top 10 for Ye and first for Ty.
Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) falls 1-4 with 15,000 copies sold (though up 28%).
iTZY’s Born to Be bows at No. 5 with 14,000 copies sold, largely from CD sales. It’s the fifth top 10-charting effort for the Korean pop act. As is customary for many K-pop project, the album was available in multiple collectible CD editions – 10 in total – all containing branded merchandise with randomized elements.
Swift has three more albums in the top 10, as Lover falls 3-6 (12,000; up 13%), Midnights dips 2-7 (11,000; down less than 1%) and Folklore rises 10-8 (9,000; up 57%). Toby Keith’s 35 Biggest Hits drops 4-9 with 7,000 sold (down 35%) and Noah Kahan’s Stick Season climbs 14-10 with nearly 7,000 (up 48%) following its deluxe reissue on Feb. 9 with additional tracks.
In the week ending Feb. 15, there were 1.258 million albums sold in the U.S. (up 7.8% compared to the previous week). Of that sum, physical albums (CDs, vinyl LPs, cassettes, etc.) comprised 906,000 (up 9.3%) and digital albums comprised 353,000 (up 4%).
There were 435,000 CD albums sold in the week ending Feb. 15 (up 11.3% week-over-week) and 467,000 vinyl albums sold (up 7.7%). Year-to-date CD album sales stand at 2.933 million (down 31.5% compared to the same time frame a year ago) and year-to-date vinyl album sales total 3.314 million (down 46.7%).
Overall year-to-date album sales total 8.341 million (down 35.5% compared to the same year-to-date time frame a year ago). Year-to-date physical album sales stand at 6.279 million (down 40.5%) and digital album sales total 2.062 million (down 12.7%).

Jack Harlow’s ‘Lovin on Me’ Adds Sixth Week Atop Hot 100, Beyoncé Leads New Top 10s
By Gary Trust | 02/20/2024
Beyoncé's "Texas Hold 'Em" launches at No. 2, Ye and Ty Dolla $ign's "Carnival" opens at No. 3 and Noah Kahan's "Stick Season" rises to No. 10.
Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me” lands a sixth nonconsecutive week atop the Billboard Hot 100. With the song, which first led for a week in December, the rapper doubles his previous longest reign, as “First Class” ruled for three weeks in 2022. He has also led with “Industry Baby,” with Lil Nas X, for one week in 2021.
Meanwhile, three songs are new to the Hot 100’s top 10: Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” bounds onto the chart at No. 2; Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Carnival” debuts at No. 3; and Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” rises to No. 10, from No. 11.
Harlow’s “Lovin on Me,” released on Generation Now/Atlantic Records, drew 77.8 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 2%) and 21.6 million streams (down 7%) and sold 5,000 downloads (down 7%) in the Feb. 9-15 tracking week, according to Luminate.
The single adds a fifth week at No. 1 on the Radio Songs chart, drops 3-5 after five weeks atop Streaming Songs and rebounds 20-11 after two frames atop Digital Song Sales. It concurrently leads the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same methodology as the Hot 100, for a 13th week each.
Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” blasts onto the Hot 100 at No. 2, with 19.2 million streams, 4.8 million in airplay audience and 39,000 sold through Feb. 15. The track is one of two that she released Feb. 11 (with instrumental and clean and explicit a cappella versions of the song released Feb. 14), along with “16 Carriages,” which debuts at No. 38 (10.3 million streams; 90,000 in audience; 14,000 sold).
The arrival of both tracks was announced via a Verizon commercial that aired during CBS’ broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII, ahead of the March 29 release of Beyoncé’s album expected to be titled Act II, which follows her 2022 Renaissance LP.
Beyoncé lands her 22nd Hot 100 top 10 with “Texas Hold ‘Em” – which concurrently soars in as her first No. 1 on the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart; “16 Carriages” starts at No. 9 on the latter list, giving her two top 10s with her first two entries on the chart.
As previously reported, “Texas Hold ‘Em” is being promoted to country radio, among other formats, and debuts at No. 54 on the Country Airplay chart. It also begins at No. 38 on Pop Airplay, while additionally drawing play at adult pop, rhythmic, adult R&B and mainstream R&B/hip-hop formats.
“Texas Hold ‘Em” concurrently begins at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales, where it’s Beyoncé’s 11th leader.
Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s “Carnival” enters the Hot 100 at No. 3, with 23.5 million streams and 4,000 sold from its Feb. 10 release on the pair’s collaborative album Vultures 1 through Feb. 15. As previously reported, the album, Ye’s first since his string of hate speech and antisemitic remarks, which resulted in companies including Adidas and Def Jam Recordings distancing themselves from the rapper, premieres at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Ye adds his 21st Hot 100 top 10 and Ty Dolla $ign, his third – and first in a lead role; he previously led for a week in 2018 as featured on Post Malone’s “Psycho” and hit No. 4 in 2016 as featured on Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home.”
“Carnival” by the pair, billed collaboratively as ¥$: Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign, crowns Streaming Songs, marking Ye’s fourth No. 1 and Ty Dolla $ign’s first.
Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” backtracks to No. 4 from its No. 3 Hot 100 high; Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” falls to No. 5 from its No. 2 best; and Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” slips 4-6, following four nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning in October.
SZA’s “Snooze” descends 5-7 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 2, as it leads the multimetric Hot R&B Songs chart for a 29th week.
Zach Bryan’s “I Remember Everything,” featuring Kacey Musgraves, retreats 6-8 on the Hot 100, after it led for a week upon its debut last September. It tops the multimetric Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs charts for a 25th week each.
Tate McRae’s “Greedy” dips 7-9 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 3. It also becomes McRae’s first No. 1 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, after it dominated Pop Airplay for eight weeks.
Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” climbs to No. 10, from No. 11, with 17.8 million streams (up 7%), 15.9 million in airplay audience (up 17%) and 2,000 sold.
The song is the Strafford, Vt., native’s first Hot 100 top 10. He arrived on the chart last June with “Dial Drunk” (featuring Post Malone), which reached No. 25, and peaked at a No. 14 best among his entries prior to “Stick Season” as featured on Zach Bryan’s “Sarah’s Place” in October. Notably, Kahan wrote “Stick Season” solo, making it any soloist’s first top 10 solely written by that artist since Bryan’s “Something in the Orange” (No. 10, January 2023).
“Stick Season” – which leads the multimetric Hot Alternative Songs chart for a fifth week, after it reached No. 2 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart in November 2022 – is the title track from Kahan’s album released that October. Sparked by its latest deluxe version, the set rebounds to its No. 3 high on the Billboard 200.

We see a few Grammy boosts, including 'Snooze' which almost returns to its #5 peak. Kanye's last album gave him four top 10s, only one this time but we'll see if any others climb in. The only other new single to chart is courtesy of Beyoncé, 'Texas Hold 'Em' is almost definitely going to climb next week.
Vultures 1 is Kanye's fourth #1 album in NZ, his first was actually Yeezus in 2013 and every album since then has followed suit. Usher has his lowest-charting album to date (previously My Way, #21 in 1998), but actually his last one Hard II Love didn't even chart in NZ, so we could call this a rebound for him.

It had a Friday release, so debuted at #4 on two days of sales, then climbed to #2 the next week, but it might've been different had its first 7 days of sales counted to the same chart. (But it was also up against 'Diamonds' and 'Don't You Worry Child' which were big releases too!)I generally agree with this, but you bring up Adele and she missed #1 with Skyfall at a time when she was the biggest pop star I've ever seen. And it's a great song too. It still did really well overall though, just not a #1 somehow. -

So catalog singles and albums are still included in the EOY, despite being past the 18-month threshold. I figured as much but good to have confirmation. The 2022 EOY is here if you'd like to compare with the previous year.
I actually found the singles EOY rather interesting despite many of the songs being stale. G'won Frank Ocean having two entries!!

This might be old news by now but I only just saw it!
“I love the show so much...but I want to go see the world and maybe bring new music.”
“I think this will probably be my last show, my last season for Idol...I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat.”
“Let’s just say I’m creating space for my new wingspan.”

First of all, beyond shook at the GIFs, no idea how you made those but it sure brought the tension!
I'm so happy to be through, thanks everyone! Also very thrilled for East Rukahavian as I thought theirs would be borderline at best.
I can't believe Eledan was last, and they wouldn't have qualified even without the deduction? Less surprised about Wholune, it was completely up my street but sounded like a pretty obvious DNQ to me unforch. Sad about Varake too, would've been great to have in the final. :( I ended up quite liking Thelonia after the issue with it being geoblocked at first, although it did fall short of my votes, definitely deserved points from more than four countries </3
