Noah Kahan’s ‘The Great Divide’ Spends Second Week Atop Billboard 200 By Keith Caulfield | 5/10/2026 Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide spends a second week atop the Billboard 200 (dated May 16) following its debut a week ago. The set earned 163,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending May 7 (down 58% compared to its opening of 389,000), according to Luminate. The Great Divide is the first rock album to spend at least two weeks at No. 1 in nearly three years. Zach Bryan’s self-titled set was the last rock set with two weeks at No. 1, in September 2023. (Rock albums are defined as those that are eligible for, or have charted on, Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart.) Also in the top 10 of the latest Billboard 200, Kacey Musgraves collects her sixth top 10 — all of which have debuted in the top five — as Middle of Nowhere starts at No. 3. Plus, the success of the Michael Jackson biopic Michael continues to shine on the chart, as Jackson has two albums in the top 10. His former No. 1 Thriller rises 7-5 and the hits collection Number Ones jumps 13-6. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. Of The Great Divide’s 163,000 equivalent album units earned in the latest tracking week, SEA units comprise 137,000 (down 35%, equaling 139.5 million on-demand official streams of the set’s tracks; it spends a second week at No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums), album sales comprise 26,000 (down 85%; it falls 1-2 on Top Album Sales) and TEA units comprise the remainder (down 66%). Ella Langley’s former leader Dandelion holds at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 103,000 equivalent album units earned (down 8%). Kacey Musgraves’ Middle of Nowhere debuts at No. 3 with 100,000 equivalent album units earned, her best week ever by units. It’s the singer-songwriter’s sixth top 10, all of which have debuted in the top five. Of the album’s starting figure, album sales comprise 64,500 (it debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales), SEA units comprise 35,000 (equaling 35.54 million on-demand official streams of the set’s songs, it debuts at No. 10 on Top Streaming Albums) and TEA units comprise 500. Middle of Nowhere is Musgrave’s sixth studio album and was announced in early March. Musgraves’ Middle of Nowhere arena tour launches on Aug. 21 in Chicago and continues through the end of October. The new album’s first-week sales were aided by its availability across 16 physical variants (including signed editions) and a deluxe download edition with two bonus tracks. Chart-watchers take note: This is the second top 10-charted album with the exact title Middle of Nowhere. Brother trio Hanson reached No. 2 with their album of their same name in 1997. Morgan Wallen’s former No. 1 I’m the Problem falls 3-4 on the latest Billboard 200 with 83,000 equivalent album units earned (up 3%). Michael Jackson has a pair of albums in the top 10 as the buzz generated from the Michael biopic continues to resonate on the chart. His chart-topping Thriller climbs 7-5 (62,000 equivalent album units, up 36%) and best-of set Number Ones, released in 2003, reaches the top 10 for the first time, rising 13-6 (62,000 units, up 65%), becoming his 11th top 10. With Number Ones’ ascent, Jackson, who died in 2009, has now claimed at least one new top 10 album in every decade from the 1970s onwards as a soloist. And, he’s only the fifth act overall to do so, joining Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and James Taylor. Ella Langley Takes Top 2 on Billboard Hot 100 With ‘Choosin’ Texas’ & ‘Be Her’ By Gary Trust | 5/11/2026 Ella Langley makes more chart history as “Choosin’ Texas” continues for a ninth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and “Be Her” ascends to a new No. 2 high. Langley becomes the first woman known for primarily recording country music to claim the Hot 100’s top two spots simultaneously over the chart’s 67-year history. Among all core-country acts, only Morgan Wallen has also achieved the feat, for a week last May. Elsewhere in the Hot 100’s top 10, Tame Impala and JENNIE’s “Dracula” blasts to No. 10 — becoming the first top 10 for each act — and women hold eight spots in the region, marking a run of prominence last linked nearly a dozen years ago. “Choosin’ Texas,” on SAWGOD/Columbia Records, with Triple Tigers promoting it to country radio, totaled 26.6 million official streams (essentially even week over week), 47.8 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 7%) and 8,000 sold (down 2%) in the United States May 1-7. The single, which became Langley’s first Hot 100 No. 1 in mid-February, adds a 10th week atop the Streaming Songs chart; holds at its No. 6 best on Radio Songs; and rebounds one place for a sixth week atop Digital Song Sales. On the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart, “Choosin’ Texas” reigns for a 24th week. Below “Choosin’ Texas,” Langley’s follow-up single “Be Her” bursts 5-2 for a new Hot 100 high. I really like 'Beautiful Monster'. Amazing how much bigger it was in the UK than basically anywhere else. 'Closer' will always be my fave from Ne-Yo but this one has a lot going for it too. It's true the production does much of the heavy lifting but I enjoyed how much his vocals channeled Michael Jackson, the year after he passed.

'Man I Need' is still gonna be #1 though until further notice, and I'm not even bothering to count how many weeks it's been at the top. I don't normally bold re-entries, but I'm making an exception this week! Most of them are Michael Jackson tracks that haven't charted in forever, and seems like a big deal that the chart company's allowing them to re-enter. We even get a new peak for 'Human Nature', which previously charted at #33. 'You Rock My World' is a surprise to me, didn't realize that was one of the songs resurging. You'd think this flood of MJ tracks would've pushed out any potential debuts or other re-entries, even with the Noah Kahan tracks dropping out, but that's not the case at all. 'Midnight Sun' gets a brand new peak, and since Zara's not credited on 'Stateside', it's her highest appearance in the chart since 'Symphony' peaked at #12! Leon Thomas finally gets a second charter off the back of 'Mutt' peaking at #2, and Temper City and Stella Lefty round out the top 40 debuts, just like they did in the UK. On the album chart, Noah Kahan holds at #1 while the Michael soundtrack challenges to overtake. Kacey Musgraves has her second-highest-charting album, behind her last one Deeper Well which got to #9. Zara also gets a new peak on this chart, Midnight Sun previously peaked at #38. Like Kacey, her highest peak to date is also #9, but with her debut So Good.

Also worth mentioning, I believe this was the second time JLS prevented Robbie from a #1, although the first time was on the album chart and Robbie was a soloist. I actually really like 'Love You More' and find a weird charm in how formulaic of a ballad it is. Songs like this were so common around 2000 with the prior wave of boy bands, that I rather enjoyed hearing the same kind of thing from the new boy band era (plus The Wanted had one around the same time with 'Heart Vacancy').

Noah Kahan Earns First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 With ‘The Great Divide’ By Keith Caulfield | 5/3/2026 Noah Kahan achieves his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as The Great Divide debuts atop the list dated May 9. The set, Kahan’s fourth full-length studio project, earned 389,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending April 30, according to Luminate. That marks Kahan’s biggest week by units, the largest week for a rock album by units since the chart began measuring by units at the end of 2014 and the third-biggest week of 2026 among all albums. Further, The Great Divide lands 2026’s largest streaming week of any album. It also claims the biggest vinyl sales week for a rock album in the modern era (since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991). (Rock albums are defined as those that are eligible for, or have charted on, Billboard’s Top Rock Albums chart.) The Great Divide is Kahan’s fifth charted effort on the Billboard 200 and his second top 10. He previously topped out at No. 2 with Stick Season, in 2024. That set returns to the top 10, rising 11-10 in its 179th week on the chart. Also in the top 10 of the latest Billboard 200, Kehlani captures her fourth top 10 with the No. 4 debut of her self-titled effort, while Michael Jackson’s chart-topping Thriller re-enters the chart at No. 7 following the debut of the Michael biopic in movie theaters. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. Of The Great Divide’s 389,000 equivalent album units earned in the latest tracking week, SEA units comprise 212,000 (equaling 215.37 million on-demand official streams of the set’s tracks, Kahan’s best streaming week and the biggest streaming week of 2026; it debuts at No. 1 on Top Streaming Albums), album sales comprise 175,000 (his best sales week; it debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales) and TEA units comprise 2,000. With 389,000 equivalent album units earned, The Great Divide scores the biggest week for a rock album since the Billboard 200 began measuring by units in December 2014. It surpasses the previous high by a rock set in that span, by the No. 1 debut of Dave Matthews Band’s Come Tomorrow, with 292,000 units (June 23, 2018). Thriller, which spent 37 weeks at No. 1 in 1983-84 — the most weeks at No. 1 for an album by a singular artist — was last in the top 10 on the Dec. 3, 2022-dated chart, when it jumped 115-7 after its 40th anniversary reissue. The song became Langley’s first Hot 100 leader and stakes its fifth distinct stay at No. 1, previously leading on charts dated Feb. 14; March 7 and 21-28; and April 11-25. It ties for the most separate No. 1 stays over a single release cycle, matching those for Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” in 2023 and Harry Styles’ “As It Was” in 2022. Overall, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” leads with eight ascents to No. 1 in 2019-25. Langley’s “Be Her” is steady at No. 5 on the Hot 100, after reaching No. 4, and her “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” with Morgan Wallen, debuts at No. 7. The duet, released April 24, arrives with 16.7 million streams, 10.8 million in radio reach and 10,000 sold. Langley adds her third Hot 100 top 10, and first to debut in the region. Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drop Dead” falls to No. 4 on the Hot 100 a week after it debuted at No. 1. Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” dips 6-8 on the Hot 100 after 10 weeks at No. 1 last June-August.
