Sorry but the charts are a total MESS. Only 3 songs in the (midweek) top 10 have been released in the last 6 months: Sam Fender & Olivia Dean - Rein Me In - 2025 Tame Impala - Dracula - 2025 Michael Jackson - Billie Jean - 1983 Alex Warren - FEVER DREAM - 2026 Olivia Rodrigo - drop dead - 2026 Zara Larsson - Lush Life - 2015 The Chemical Brothers - Go - 2015 sombr - Homewrecker - 2026 Michael Jackson - Beat It - 1982 Justin Bieber feat. Nicki Minaj - Beauty and a Beat - 2012 I actually quite like the new trend of old songs being given a new lease of life many years later (Bloody Mary, Lush Life, Breakin Dishes) but the rate at which it's happening seems to be increasing, to the point that they're taking over the rate at which new songs and artists are breaking through, and that's when it becomes an issue. Has there ever been so much diversity in the age of songs in the charts (Christmastime excluded?)

Hoping Lily can sneak a week at #1, would be very deserved for an album with so much hype and impact

Zara deserves a credit on Stateside! Hopefully they’ll eventually add her like how Billie wasn’t originally credited on Guess (despite the remix being the reason it was topping the charts)

Largely solid… really? Every song of hers sounds the same and there’s nothing about her that stands out from the crowd. Generic beyond belief. But I wish her well!
  5. Has it got as high as the top 50 before? I check the UK chart most days and have never spotted it?!
  6. ”Clean Baby Sleep White Noise” is a new entry on the Spotify UK Top 50 at #41 It is literally just 2.5 minutes of white noise, which I assume is designed to help people sleep Has this ever happened before? And why has it happened now, is TikTok somehow to blame? Such a random entry, and has a slight nostalgic feel haha, reminds me of that era when fake versions of unreleased songs would chart on iTunes in the early 2010s, and sometimes even get into the official chart

God the charts really are dire at the moment. The domination of Ordinary (aptly named as it’s possibly the most generic song of all time) is depressing

lol the classic “promo single, unless it does well, then it’s a proper single!” do they think we’re dumb
  9. Interesting how different perspectives can be! I’d say this has been one of the best years in a LONG time, from a pop music perspective British music… to be honest I hadn’t noticed but it’s true, there’s basically no “huge” UK star at the moment other than Charli, but even she is based in America.
  10. The Spotify Wrapped impact!! I don’t recall this ever happening in past years? Was so confused at why Birds of a Feather was so high
  11. What a week for Charli Can’t be many artists who have SEVEN top 40 hits from the same album/era? Who was the last to do it?

Was expecting Fred Again to do wayyyy better! The lack of physicals explains it I guess
  13. FIVE Charli songs in the top 100, nearly two months after the album’s release. I don’t think I’ve ever been so delighted at an album campaign’s success. SO deserved after years of killing it but not really being appreciated beyond her core fans.

3 per album I’m not sure if Guess will count separately to 360, Apple and 365 given it’s a remix and also from the deluxe version though? I assume it does count and 365 won’t chart this week

I LOVE Apple now but if you’d have told me on release week it would be the second highest charting hit from the album, I simply wouldn’t have believed you. I had it down as filler that didn’t really fit the album. How wrong I was… This era has done nothing but surprise me time & time again and I love it Billie not getting a credit on Guess would be so dumb. I’m a chart nerd but I just don’t understand the inconsistency of when features/remixes count and when they don’t. And Billie deserves so much more than her only #1s being soundtrack ballads.
