  1. Could LadBaby block Ava officially for a second week?!

Always interesting to return to these threads a year later and see what came true and what didn't! I have to say, my predictions were mostly absolute STINKERS - I've boldened the ones that came true above. Only 5! I'll make a 2019 thread before the end of the year
  3. As a gay man I don’t find it offensive and think people are dumb for being offended by it. Sorry! :-)
  4. Honestly unbelievable!! When I discovered this little song about 4 months ago (via Buzzjack) I thought it’d be yet another criminally underrated pop song that I obsessed over and only a select few of my friends would know Never in a million years would I have thought it’d be #1 on iTunes

George Ezra is 20/1... is it worth it? He’s not even Top 50 on Spotify so can’t see him building up momentum in time?
  6. Hilarious that Little Mix are doing Strictly so soon after leaving Syco - a true middle finger to Simon! The Syco drama is most likely why they're not on the final. I believe he invited them to perform on it anyway. Worth noting as well that Jade has been missing from a couple of performances & interviews recently, possibly due to illness, could have something to do with it? Also I would bet money on James Arthur & Anne-Marie doing Rewrite The Stars.
  7. It was criminal that NTLTC missed out on #1 so I’m willing thank u, next to do it, even though it’s only 40% as good as NTLTC
  8. I hope so! But I doubt it. She has some really great songs under her belt. Her two EPs from last year are brilliant

4 years vs. 6 years... you're not far off actually. At least Rita Ora kinda makes sense (a multitude of reasons - recorded an album with Calvin Harris that got scrapped, sometimes seems more interested in being a celebrity than a pop star with her X Factor judging, Voice judging, ANTM presenting, socialiting and makeup endorsements to name a few; and also the fact that it's difficult for female pop stars to shift albums these days). Clean Bandit doesn't really make sense at all, they've had three number ones since their last album and have the 'credible' appeal that most album-selling artists in the late 2010s have to have. They must have the material by now to put a full LP together? Why are they taking so long?

Good point! They've all but confirmed an album is coming this year. They've just finished recording it (endless snaps of them recording in the studios and Jade posted on Instagram a week or two ago that they only had a few sessions left). They've had Only You out this summer and a tour to keep the fans happy and the pennies rolling in. I reckon the lead single will be out in September, and the album out in November.
  11. Cheating On Me is such a beautiful song although I prefer the Tom Misch remix with Zak Abel featured!
  12. #96 Anne Marie - Trigger Why’s this so high? Next single?
  13. Scott LOVES the chart so I think he'll excel in the role. It's so his gig. I absolutely love his own show so I hope he lasts a long while! I think he'll be doing it for a few years at least unless they do a major reshuffle.
  14. Her two EPs last year are brilliant. But she’ll flop with this I’m sure! Top 20, <5k sales
  15. YESSSS!! I’m not massively familiar with the impact of playlists on streaming but this is excellent news for Solo isn’t it? Do we reckon they’ll climb to #1 on the official chart this week?
  16. One of the only Radio 1 DJs who genuinely loves pop & chart music, and by far the most entertaining presenter. This is such a good choice
  17. The Shawn Mendes song is good!!!
  18. Ariana is on her way... I reckon she’ll surprise-release a single before the end of April. If it’s a good song she could go straight to #1. I hope Drake f***s off before then though! Such a NOTHING song
  19. Amazing to see Bebe Rexha so high. Could never have predicted a song from an EP no one listened to in August would be Top 5 on iTunes in March 2018! She deserves so much more. All Your Fault Pt 1 & 2 are fantastic
  20. Wow New Rules was NEVER an iTunes number one? That can’t be right?

  23. I’ve only properly followed it since 2012 or so. 2014 stands out as there was a new number one pretty much every week! And lots of housey dance songs

Love looking back at this each year! Of 20 predictions there, 10 came true It definitely has been Ed Sheeran year, sadly... I'll make a 2018 thread at some point unless someone already has!
  25. I can't see them ever removing Xmas songs from the charts, for a number of reasons 1) They only take over for about 5 weeks of the year 2) People LIKE Christmas songs, the average Joe would be happy to see them in the charts 3) What counts as a Christmas song? Does it have to reference Christmas? What counts as a reference to Christmas? is East 17 actually a Christmas song? It's too much of a grey area I personally don't mind it at all!
