Jess Glynne vs Ella Eyre should be interesting. Think Jess Glynne would beat her. I prefer Ella's song but I think Jess's will have a wider appeal, plus the fact it will probably sell an awful lot just on her name alone.

I am skeptical on if she's singing live in that performance. Her voice doesn't sound live (even though it's far from a perfect vocal, she cracks a few times). Regardless, the whole "facing the wall" thing is so obnoxious. The song is good though. And the little dancer girl is incredible.

Can't see Gorgon City getting #1 as much as I love the song and I love them. Also doubt Sia will get it. Will be so pissed off if 5SOS get a #1. Not representative of what's actually popular at the moment at all. Stupid fan bases.

Is Secondcity gonna beat the utter shite that is Kinkanke or whatever it's called to #1? I really hope so.

Cheryl may well go for OA/OS with this one, in the same way that Jessie J released 'Wild' OA/OS this time last year, and that didn't do her any harm.

Which UK Female Will Tie Geri Haliwell's No 1 record first?
This. To say 'Hot Right Now' isn't worthy of being attributed to Rita Ora as one of her number 1s is actually quite insulting. She made that song a success just as much as DJ Fresh made it a success.

I was thinking that. Since when are Radio 1 such ruthless ageists?

First time hearing this Gecko song and I'm in love. It should be big

Which UK Female Will Tie Geri Haliwell's No 1 record first?
I don't understand why everyone's arguing. The OCC says that features do count as a number 1 for the respective artist. As someone mentioned earlier, the OCC has said that Rihanna has OFFICIALLY got the record of highest number of number 1s in consecutive years, which has to include Run This Town and The Monster which are songs that she is not the lead artist on but nevertheless features on. In the same way, Rita Ora OFFICIALLY has tied with Geri Halliwell with the highest number of number 1s for a female UK solo artist, because again, features count for the artist's tally. If you disagree with what the OCC has to say then fair enough, go ahead and disagree. But OFFICIALLY, Rita Ora has done it. Deal with it.

Weird, why has it only just appeared in the top 100?

#64 Disclosure & Friend Within - The Mechanism When was this released? I heard it a few weeks ago when they put it on their soundcloud but wasn't aware it had been released on iTunes. Not the best I've heard from Friend Within but still decent. Still think 'The Renegade' could be a bit hit in the future.

I feel like Wiggle was made purely for Vine. Anyone who regularly uses it will know exactly what I mean.

Oh no Wiggle is just an abomination.

I think the nominating thing works well, it's just that record companies don't bother with nominating the right song at the right time. The only artist I can think of who has got the whole instant grat thing spot on is Eminem. When 'The Monster' first premiered, it was the fourth instant grat track to be released before his album. But rather than sticking with the debut single as the 'nominated' song (which is what most artists seem to do - Gaga, Coldplay etc) they switched it to The Monster. As a result, The Monster hit #1 straight away, and the other three tracks disappeared from the chart for a week. That's what Gaga should've done with DWUW. When it was charting high on iTunes, it was ineligible because 'Applause' was the nominated track still. But Applause was way down the charts at this point. They should've nominated DWUW and scrapped Applause. Who would have missed Applause for a couple of weeks? No one. DWUW could've had the peak it deserved if they'd just made that one decision.

I don't know why so many people dislike this song. It's easily one of the best on the album in my opinion

It's all over Vine, not just one cat video. I actually feel like they've made this song PURELY so it can go viral on Vine. It's a horrible, stupid song and I hate that idiots are buying into it.

It will grow on you. The chorus isn't immediately obvious but once you hear the song a few times you'll hear how good it actually is.

#1440 Chromeo & Solange - Lost On the Way Home (feat. Solange)
-
iTunes Weekly Thread W/C 11th May 2014
I agree about Extraordinary, it's a terrible song in comparison to their other stuff. The chorus sounds like cheesy 90s pop. It's incomparable to their earlier stuff, such as Rather Be, Rihanna, Dust Clears and A+E.

Is the new Nero song online anywhere? Will be interesting to see what direction they're going in. I'd be surprised if it's anything but a house song. Lots of dubstep acts from the early 2010s have changed their style to house now, like Skream.

Be careful what you wish for. Would you really want a chart that's stale? I think the more number ones the better. Makes it a hell of a lot more interesting.

"Sing" is fantastic. "Jubel" is an absolute mess of a song. I hate it.

Fair play to Paloma but this is a very quiet week in fairness, can't imagine Mr Probz will sell any more than 80k to get #1 this week. Still a huge achievement for Paloma though.

Don't forget Coldplay is ineligible at the moment, so Paloma is technically #6 on the chart right now.
