So it's congrats to Australian singer & actress Natalie Imbruglia for winning the 1997 survivor after a very tense battle. One of a handful of Neighbours actors to move into music, she released her debut album Left Of The Middle in late 1997. From that album was a cover version of a song by a relatively little-known American rock band called Ednaswap. Imbruglia's version highlighted the hit potential of the track and it set up her for a successful start to her singing career. It wasn't able to top the UK charts as a result of running into Barbie Girl but it nonetheless sold over a million copies and today sits in the top 100 best-selling singles of all time.

With every winner there must a runner-up. This time it comes in the form of Californian pop rock band No Doubt. Similar to Chumbawamba, the band's origins date back many years before their commercial breakthrough. Their first 2 albums didn't chart anywhere however that would all change in 1997 with the release of Tragic Kingdom. Lead single Just A Girl scraped the UK top 40 in 1996 but Don't Speak would become arguably their magnum opus, debuting at #1 where it would stay for 3 consecutive weeks. More success would follow for the band stretching into the new millennium where lead singer Gwen Stefani would fly solo and carve out a very successful career of her own.

That's a really good win, but there's got to be either a severere tactical or mentality problem. I get 2-0 is a dangerous scoreline, but to revert to playing so badly in the second half vs the first half proposal, it does reek a lot of protecting what you have rather than delivering the killer blow. Often happens with England. A different night and we draw that game, when Italy should have been buried in the first half.
Completely agree with all this. Mind you had the Villa version of Grealish arrived at the scene rather than the City version, we'd be 3-0 and game over at HT.
