To be fair I'm surprised he sticked around as long as he did, clearly has the tools to be an Elite European manager. Back to Bilbao then I expect.

No I'm from the South West originally although pretty much London-bassd nowadays (live in Essex but work in London) Was that Amorim in a Carrick mask this evening 🤔
  5. Dayum didn't know about that one! (Never used Tumblr) Aside, I think this might be the only time I received your 18 points?

  7. BJSC 121 Host Countries: Scherzland/Persephonia Overview We entered our fifth full year of competing with a first-time possibility of an automatic qualifier so there was plenty to mull over prior to the first contest starting. Ultraviolenceland passed on hosting duties so once again Dobago were offered the opportunity to host but with myself starting a new job it really wasn't feasible this time either! As such it ended up falling to Scherzland who would host the majority of the contest but would ultimately be unable to fulfil final results duties so these were instead taken up by Persephonia. No doubt keen to immediately reclaim the EOY #1 spot, Aeroche stormed to a record-extending 12th victory as 2020 kicked off under pretty normal circumstances which of course would not last very long... Dobago's Entry Result: 15th This is certainly the closest entry you could argue falls within the novelty sphere ever sent to the main contest by us, although it's perhaps more suited to being labelled a "meme" song rather than the out-and-out novelty of other entries in preceding years. With a 50% chance of auto-qualifying it felt right to go a bit leftfield and send something fun but that would still likely garner a decent fanbase should it have to compete in the semis (non-spoiler alert: it did). This was actually a song introduced to me through my best friend which for the record is not the norm (90% of the time it's usually me showing him random music discoveries, most via often contests on this website, whereas he's more the movie guy) but this was an exception which I had then kept on the back-burners for a short while prior to 121. It's a very engaging but otherwise relatively standard house track with a couple of punchy drops and playful steel drum sections but of course the main appeal is its eye-catching accompanying music video featuring swathes of red crabs "invading" a tropical island. Fun fact this is an actual real-life annual occurrence on Christmas Island from which no doubt the theme was inspired. It generated a bit of discussion straight from the off with it being a much more recognisable entry than many others of ours and it finished in a very respectable 15th place overall. Still one I very much enjoy listening to that never fails to bring a smile to my face. Winning Entry Country: Aeroche The mononymously named NINA had twice previously been sent to the contest to contrasting success (a DNQ and a 16th place finish) but this entry would fully capture the hearts of Buzzjack and soar to a impressive 372-point victory. Of course it didn't literally capture everyone's heart and that included ourselves in that bracket. I like the synth-laden production and airy vibes of the track but that's about it unfortunately. I'm really not keen on her high-pitched, breathy vocals and the song remains a bit too much on one level for my liking. It treads the dancepop line rather well and it wasn't at all a surprise to see it perform strongly but it wasn't one I was personally itching to replay so it was another nul-pointer from us in the opening contest of a year. 18-Pointer Country: Thelonia (result: 22nd) We really were all about the high-octane entries at this point in the contest and there's no exception to that this time around. A happy hardcore take on the original 90s classic by Netzwerk that ups the tempo even more and throws in a handful of bangtastic instrumental sections, it's a very enjoyable ride and still gets the pulse rising. Admittedly, it's one I've hardly ever revisited and tend to much more likely want to listen to the original which I hadn't fully appreciated at this time. Also my penchant for happy hardcore is not quite as strong as it once was so this would be very unlikely to get top marks now revisiting. Instead that would probably go to the brilliant deep house tune of 'Breaking Me' which would go on to become a huge UK & European hit mere months later, another fun addition to the list of entries that broke out shortly after appearing in BJSC, although it was paid relative dust here with a lowly 34th place. That received our silver medal with bronze going to classic Trifoski-fodder, the unabashedly wild and zany 'Cilantro' which missed the top 10 on a tie-break to the song which we gave a solitary point to so much belated apologies on that front! This also might be the contest whereby our top-scorer in the semi fell off the most in a final (all the way down to 6th fave), that being the heartfelt pop ballad 'Lazy Love' which must have struck a chord on first listen but didn't hold up quite so well on subsequent plays. Looking back in general, this one certainly wasn't a contest brimming with quality.

Na but if Arsenal don't win it THIS season it would be unarguably the biggest bottlejob of all time. Bigger than both of their 13/14 & 22/23 crashouts and bigger than Keegan's I'd love it if we beat them campaign. I mean they've literally been top of the table for almost the entire season. Totally here for it though, especially after everyone claimed it was in the bag 6 months ago. I still don't fully trust this iteration of City though and they've got a few more dropped points in them compared with their swashbuckling teams of the early 20s. And let's not forget Arsenal have to juggle CL games as well as they've basically got one foot in the Semi now so that's 3 extra games to play. Whereas City have a plum fixture in the FA Cup semi so can play their second team there.
  9. Thanks guys, so my punt was literally the first horse to fall lol but glad I got the W here for the first ever time!
  10. Have resubmitted. Same entry but the YT link didn't appear to be working so hopefully now it does.
  11. Arsenal 3Vs1 AFC Bournemouth Brentford 2Vs1 Everton Burnley 0Vs1 Brighton & Hove Albion Liverpool 2Vs1 Fulham

Too easy to avoid ACR. Too easy to go back onto SCR. Needs fixing pronto, or even better abolishing.
  13. West Ham United 1Vs0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
  14. Quite like this one, much much better than Baby Doll.
  15. Lol so I've managed to bag the top 2 favourites! But I still think Grangeclare will take the W.
  16. 2020 and 2022 both had 2, you missed Roses and BOTA.
  17. Well the past 3 years we've have ONE customary dance #1 single so something has to take the mantle this year, why not this?!
  18. Very happy with that winner as expected as it was, been a while since I medalled a winner it was probably Ninajirachi that was the last time! Great to see Nelionoir & Greenfroze both top 10 but very shocked that FARC finished so low.
  19. Bit of a barren month tbf. Prem is back this weekend so that should generate a bit more discussion however the cancellation of both scheduled F1 races won't help!
  20. Well you definitely won as only me, you & Sarah managed to post preds for the final day and you were leagues ahead of both of us so... congrats!

GP off to McLaren in 2028! At this rate, there'll be no-one left from their glory days...
  22. Vanessa my least fave of these
  23. I think it's only within the top 10.
  24. Week 13 BTS - SWIM (#2) - really lush chilled vibe to this, an impressive comeback with a sound i wasn't expecting from them RAYE - Click Clack Symphony. (feat. Hans Zimmer) (#18) - a very engrossing single, lots to unpack here - definitely one to revisit! BTS - Body To Body (#28) - enjoy the timbaland-esque production and catchy hooks BTS - FYA (#39) - cringe Britney reference aside, it's 3 from 3 from them - fun track FLO - Leak It (#45) - sounds pretty decent on first listen, deserves to outpeak the awful fly girl Chris Stussy - Wide Awake (feat. Tom Did It) (#46) - oh this is a bit of a soft banger, enjoyed this a lot Luke Combs - Rethink Some Things (#71) - wow this is such a strong week even a new luke combs song doesn't sound characteristically dreadful, still not quite vote-worthy though Niall Horan - Dinner Party (#72) - sadly this one very much falls into the dull category Temper City - Self Aware (#82) - pretty good, sounds like a mix between 21 pilots & that home song a few years back Very strong week indeed! Voted BTS x3, RAYE, FLO, Chris & TC. Week 14 RAYE - I Know You're Hurting. (#22) - similar vibe to nightingale lane, can appreciate its artistry but just not something i'd actively listen to Ye - FATHER (feat. Travis Scott) (#27) - solid rap & production combination Ye - ALL THE LOVE (feat. André Troutman) (#28) - this one is pretty limp however Central Cee - WAGWAN (#31) - pretty solid effort from him this time, nice flow & vibe Ye - KING (#47) - striking, in-your-face album opener, very much enjoyed this Miley Cyrus - Younger You (#53) - very limp and rather cringey lyrics in parts The Long Faces - Jane! (#62) - no idea why a random indie song from 2018 has charted but i like it, very unique-sounding vocal and chirpy instrumentation Malcolm Todd - Earrings (#68) - eh, he's trying to go for the steve lacy style but it falls rather short for me Prospa and Cloonee - Free Your Mind (#71) - always here for commercial success for prospa, this is one heck of a tune for good measure! BTS - NORMAL (#74) - not on the level of their 3 entries from the previous week Chris Rainbow - Be Like A Woman (#98) - we love a completely randomly entry from a decades-old song, no really this is great whatever/whoever it is! Also strong! Voted Ye x2, Cench, LFs, Prospa & Chris.
