Wow that was quite the thrilling ride at the end after a very slow start for my entry! Many congrats Julian, wasn't my personal cup of tea but not hard to see its wide appeal. Does that mean all 3 winners of Bop Idol now were the first wins of any kind of song contest on this site? Pretty neat if so (and glad I didn't buck the trend of that particular quirk). The Scissor Sister's eponymous album was one of the very first I remember buying on CD (Scooter was very first from 2002!) so I have many memories of spamming that whole track list and It Can't Come Quickly Enough stayed with me the most over the years, a haunting, ethereal-sounding beaut of track. I did think it would be pretty well known on here but I was struggling with coming up with any other entries. My back up was Diplomat's Son by Vampire Weekend for what it's worth! Shame Same Difference just missed out of the top 3 (but I couldn't have done any more to help its cause with giving it the full 12 and giving M83 nada) - did not expect to love it as much as I did but there ya go. Really thought Mis-Teeq would have done better here as it was very standout in this field. Also justice for Alexander Rybak, great discovery that one was. Big hand to Mango for his first time hosting a contest, you pulled it off just fine 👍

ha no way! I also remember that entry leading the final scoreboard after the first batch of votes courtesy of two 18s, clearly a misleading indication of how things would end. Looking back I see that it only got 20 more points in the final than its semi despite twice the number of potential voters and more points to dish out. That might be the biggest ever example of 'right semi syndrome' then since it would have DNQ'd in the other semi.

I think the biggest drop is FSR Rontvia winning the semi with Salsa Me then coming 36th or something? Then the biggest gain I can think of is Jupiterdonia just scraping through a semi with Inna then coming 6th but I'm pretty sure someone beat that more recently.
