United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2023
I think it’s definitely Mae Muller now https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/21637...r-wrote-a-song/

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2023
See I would have thought that there would be more fanfare if they are going to be announcing the act tomorrow not just a quick mention at 5 in the morning. I wonder if tomorrow will be the announcement of the announcement and someone got their wires crossed. A reveal on The One Show tomorrow night could be possible.

‘Holy’ out of all the rumours I would say is the most competitive so I’m hoping it’s that.

I wonder if the entry might be revealed on Thursday on Radio 1 when Arielle Free ends her Red Nose Day challenge in Liverpool.

I thought Calvin and Ellie was our entry and it was being announced on The One Show on Friday?

OneRepublic - Artificial Paradise
I’m liking the sound of ‘Runaway’

I just hope this a bit of a red herring so we don’t expect Rina to be announced. I’m sure Mae would happily play along with this as it gives her a bit of publicity for her new song. I do have my doubts though

I’m sure that’s the song that he said didn’t fit on Equals and that he was going to release as a stand alone single or part of the deluxe version of Equals. He must of kept it back so he had a hit single from this album if the rest is more acoustic and less commercial.

With ‘Space Man’ that was very much a Radio 2 song that wasn’t overly out of place on Radio 1. This year we seem to be going the opposite if rumours are correct.

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2023
I imagine the BBC and TaP would want to repeat the post Eurovision success of Sam Ryder so you would really need someone like Sam who can crossover into different demographics. So really you need an already household name or someone who could become one especially with it being in the UK this year. Ellie Goulding, Birdy and Rina to a point fit that mould. Whereas Mae Muller and Mimi Webb appeal to a younger audience whose music is basically written to try and go viral on TikTok.

I’m not sure how it’s all but confirmed it’s Birdy. I haven’t seen anything to hint she’s is doing it apart from the song being released yesterday.

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2023
I was listening to ‘Raincatchers’ and it wouldn’t surprise if this is our entry as it does sound very Eurovision to me. If it is then I can’t see the point of releasing it a week early and it being a minute longer than it should be.

I think the first single is being released on the 24th.

Clara Amfo played Rina on her show and kind of mentioned the rumours which is something I don’t think they would do if it wasn’t her. I really can’t see it being anybody else at this point. @1630667362352373774

I’m sure Ed said somewhere that this was delayed for some reason as it was supposed to be out before he started his tour in Australia. Part of me thinks he was waiting for ‘Flowers’ to die down a bit to try and get a number 1 with the first single. Looking forward to hearing new music though.

If Birdy is our entry would there really be much point in releasing the song a week early? It would be so obvious she is our entry if Radio 1 and 2 start hammering the song right away as she’s not the sort artist that gets instantly added to their playlist. Last year you could see the thinking behind releasing Space Man early but this year unless they were going to release it in January or the beginning of February to try and make it a hit there’s really no point.

I do think TaP wouldn’t have let the hype of Rina being our entry build up if it wasn’t her. So I’m quietly confident it’s her. I think she was picked before her album was even released. I think them having a shortlist is just in case she had to pull out for some reason.

Ellie Goulding - Higher Than Heaven
I could easily see Ellie doing it with one of the songs from her new album what I can’t see is Calvin Harris being involved. I would love to be wrong though as I would love to see two quite big artists representing the UK with a massive hit that this is likely to be. It would be such a moment and a turnaround from the likes Electro Velvet and Michael Rice. I still think Rina Sawayama is the most likely at the moment though.

Tom Grennan - What Ifs & Maybes
Tom is going to be performing on Saturday Night Takeaway tonight so should give ‘Here’ a bit of a boost.

I said Ellie Goulding but thinking now there is a lot of evidence for Rina Sawayama and not really anything for Ellie. I mean it wouldn’t really surprise me if Rina was chosen last year and she was giving the big promo slots on the BBC to get her name out there more. If it’s going to be an album track that’s already released ‘Holy (Til You Let Me Go)’ sounds very Eurovision to me and is easily edited to 3 mins as the last 20 seconds is just noise.

United Kingdom · Eurovision Song Contest 2023
I can’t help but think with it being in the UK and it being even more of an event this year the BBC would like a well known established act that general public would know. Obviously I can’t see them having acts like that queuing up unless they go down the nostalgia type acts like Blue or Engelbert so to me Ellie Goulding is probably the most likely giving she’s with TaP and still kind of relevant but could do with a bit of boost none the less. I know she’s got a festival booked but to be honest she could easily pull out once she is announced.

That’s a decent song actually I wouldn’t mind that. TaP were hinting at a female artist or a band. Well this is a band with a female lead singer so it wouldn’t shock me if this was our entry.

I’ve mentioned before that the BBC were promoting Rina quite a bit by giving her a Strictly performance which is quite big for an artist who isn’t that well known to the casual Strictly viewer. They also seemed to put a lot of effort into the performance as well. So she’s either in the running for Eurovision or someone in the BBC is a big fan.

Charlie Simpson - Hope Is A Drug
After being unveiled as Rhino on The Masked Singer and winning the show Charlie has released an EP called ‘Kifaru’ Tracklisting: 1.I See You (LA Mix) 2.Before You Go 3.Use Somebody 4.Chasing Cars Not sure why he didn’t do a version of ‘Try’ as that was his best performance on the show for me.

Streaming Services Chart Discussion
They never added it to their Todays Hits playlist which tends to make or break certain songs on Apple Music.
