I would love to see KC & The Sunshine Band on there with ‘Shake Shake Shake (Shake Your Booty)’. A Top 40 hit sure but would be perfect for the Extra as it’s a very memorable song.

Seems they’re covering dance classics from that era. Seems okay, but I think all those artists mentioned have appeared on other NOW albums.

I’d like to see a 70’s Yearbook next. I honestly don’t mind which, but they do need to bring the attention back to the 70’s, even if for one year.

I’m curious, and this may seem a while out if it does happen but, do you think they’ll do the 60’s? It could really make the Yearbook collection worth something if they expand into that decade.

I could live without a lot of this 97 Extra. My biggest gripe though is why has dance been wiped out of the equation apart from Roise Gaines and a few of the more famous critcially acclaimed dance acts on Disc 2 - it was a big year for it. Sash, Bellini, Smoke City, BBE, The Course, Todd Terry, PF Project, Mr President? I can't believe these were all unlicensable.

I’ve bought ‘97 and saw the tracklist for this one and I have to say, this year is a weak year for the Yearbook series. Does anyone else feel this way? What are the major omissions from these releases and what could be the reason?

I understand that these releases individually are somewhat affordable but at the moment it feels like NOW are reaching into their bargain bin of licensing and slapping any old cheap track on here.

P.S. I’m specifically upset about the Teletubbies not making the cut.

Gutted about Love Generation. Then again, it only peaked at No.12 in the Official Charts. Shocked at it's 17 week chart run though, impressive! That song just holds loads of teenage memories for me. Happy to see KT Tunstall and Mylo vs. Miami Sound Machine within the Top 10. Goldfrapp are great but Ooh La La was way overplayed back then due to its use in a car advert I think?

 

'Biology' is a bit of a guilty pleasure, admittedly.

 

Kelly Clarkson at the top does seem predictable.

'Love Generation' was a tune that I've grown up with for years. In late 2005 I really got into dance music and this song was on many club compilations! Still gives me nostalgia chills every time it comes up on my iPod! :lol:

 

The Magic Numbers were massively underrated too. Good for them for having two tunes in the NOW series!

Why on earth did I rate 'Murder On The Dancefloor' as a 3? What was I on at the time?! S-E-B is one of my favourite female pop stars of all time! A lot of this music I used to listen to in the cars radio whenever I went out with my family! The memories!

Continuing it's ongoing popularity (unlike my previous posts and most likely this post too, the irony!), Buck Rogers holds a third week at the top! Nice!

Not really. I'm playing catch-up! I have this OCD tendency where I can't actively listen to an artist or album/track unless I buy said album/track. If I hear the track passively on the radio or otherwise, then I'll look it up and most likely purchase it. Not a big fan of Spotify or any of those services either as it feels like I'm renting the songs, not owning.

 

Also, torrenting is illegal and I've ended that saga a couple of years ago. Support the artists! ^_^

Bit of a 'meh' album. This was around the time I couldn't stand pop music and just stuck to things like Digimon, Pokemon and what not. I was 10, but was enjoying the whole punk-pop thing with Sum 41 and blink-182. Also, Kerrang! :lol:

Okay, quite happy about the top 10! Nice to see Avril and Amy in the top 2! Was half expecting Rihanna to be No.1! Yay! Also, Kate Nash, JT, HelloGoodbye (big shock!), Calvin Harris and the Manics in the top 10! Much love for this! Still a huge fan of Kate Nash to this day, saw her perform in early 2011 when 'My Best Friend Is You' was out, what an intimate gig! Love how she changes her sound every album to sound fresh each time. JT, such a funky tune, I'm sure it was produced by Timbaland? Great producer! HelloGoodbye, emo track of the summer '07, hits me right in the childhood! This was when Calvin Harris was good. I loved his 'I Created Disco' album, such indie-electronica. This was around the time I learnt who the Manics were, thanks to the official charts and Now 67! Checked out their back catalogue of singles and recognized every one! It's good to know song titles. :lol:

 

Amy is deserved of the No.1 spot, great artist. Avril Lavigne, despite this not being one of her better tracks, it's always great to see her on a Now album. Another childhood favourite that I'm still fond of to this day. :wub:

Very shocked! 'Bigger Than Big' was one of my summer smashes for 2007! Loved Luciana's 'punk-sexy' vocals over a great electronic beat. Loved the electronic side of Disc 2! Gutted for Timbaland's Hip-Hop tune and McFly's retro-sounding cover track too! Groove Armada's tune was another electronic tune that was brilliant! My tastes are far from this forum by the looks of things. Ah well, better luck next time I suppose. :(
