  1. 19. Calvin Harris – I'm Not Alone a8TPXFoXO5A Highly anticipating Calvin's comeback in 2009 got me stoked, so when I saw this track get to No.1 I was more than impressed. Loved his transition into a more trance-style of dance from the indie-electronica of 2007. Such a hype tune! Mind you, his follow-up wasn't all that bad either. ;) First Played: 8th October 2009. Plays: 60
  2. 20. Scouting for Girls – On The Radio _LRdLzP0WZ8 Taken from their sophomore effort 'Everybody Wants To Be On TV', 'On The Radio' is a track that reminds me of the 50s/60s rock 'n' roll era, of which I highly adore. It sounds refreshing, fit for a summer soundtrack because of its positivity. I loved this song throughout 2011, pretty much being the highlight track of the summer! I remember playing it loads when I used to work for a hospital radio station, to help perk everyone up! First Played: 15th April 2010. Plays: 60

Good tunes, happy to see Diana Vickers chart in the top 10! Gutted about 'Americano', but also pleased with Kickstarts position. It's a mixed bag, this one.
  5. Some heavy drops and a continuous run for a lucky band! A few re-entries and not much else. Another quiet week. Also, check out the random 5! Could a track you like be among them? 6. 21. blink-182 – The Rock Show z7hhDINyBP0 More childhood nostalgia, yay! Just missing out on the top 20 is a tune that reminds me of what I could experience as a teen by going to gigs and otherwise. As I was only 9 years old when it came out, I wasn't aware of how much high school would change me as a person and prevent me from going to any gigs and concerts! But I wasn't to know that in 2001! Still, a classic choon. Again, part of my primary school 'mosher' phase, please refer back to 'Motivation' by Sum 41. ;) First Played: 20th March 2010. Plays: 59
  7. 22. Ellie Goulding – Wish I Stayed _52p5nylTIc Discovered this as a free download from the iTunes store, the acoustic version of course. Love the subtle vocals. Wasn't really impressed when it was released on the 'Lights' album fully produced, much prefer the stripped down version. Ever since, Ellie's been hit and miss with me, liking some tracks and disliking others, recently enjoying 'Anything Could Happen' but not really fond of 'Burn'. This is one of two Ellie tracks featured in my chart, so keep your eyes peeled! ;) First Played: 26th December 2009 Plays: 59
  8. 23. Florence + the Machine – Dog Days Are Over iWOyfLBYtuU I got into this track when I was growing more fond of Florence + The Machine's music. Enjoyed her cover of 'You Got The Love' and when this was re-released I was really digging it. Great sound and a great voice from a beautiful singer! Since then I've bought both her 'Lungs' and 'Ceremonials' albums, whilst celebrating her No.1 'Spectrum (Say My Name)', the Calvin Harris remix. Looking forward to more material from this artist! First played: 7th February 2010. Plays: 59
  9. 24. Yello – Oh Yeah 8Q7FFjUpVLg I think I found this track on The Simpsons, theme for Duff Man, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off! Hilarious song and random lyrics, I grew really addicted to this track! My friends in college at the time also jumped on the 'Oh Yeah' bandwagon and played it whenever one of our Media Studies lecturers walked into the room! Good times... First Scrobbled: 10th November 2009. Plays: 58
  10. 25. Kelly Clarkson – My Life Would Suck Without You cRM70Jw7F4M This song I really enjoyed, for reasons unknown. It could be because it was big at around the time I had a dream about Kelly Clarkson. I think she was my girlfriend? I can't remember. :P Anyway, I really enjoyed this track and the album it came from, so much so I bought the album 'All I Ever Wanted' on CD! Not really fond of her material after this album, so I'll be holding out hope that she releases some good stuff in the future! First Scrobbled: 8th October 2009. Plays: 58
  11. 26. Barenaked Ladies – One Week fC_q9KPczAg I must have discovered this song, everywhere, when I was a kid. No matter where you looked, what film you saw, this song would have featured on it. Digimon: The Movie strikes again and I believe it featured on Shrek as well? I'd be interested to see what other films this track appeared in. But still, another classic! First Scrobbled: 18th October 2009. Plays: 57
  12. 27. Mark Ronson & The Business Intl – Somebody To Love Me EAZv7V4gkGs I really enjoyed 'Bang Bang Bang' by Mark Ronson and his crew, so I decided to download the album 'Record Collection'. It featured some great corkers on it, including this one ditty. I was all over it during 2010/2011 and couldn't get enough of it. Although I can hardly remember the song itself now, back then I was obsessed and couldn't get enough! I would love to see a follow-up to the album this track came from. First scrobbled: 23rd October 2010. Plays: 57
  13. 28. Less Than Jake – All My Best Friends Are Metalheads eYIx0sFNDH4 Another song I discovered on Digimon: The Movie. Another classic that was again, unfortunately missed by the mainstream public. I'm sure this appealed to those who were into Ska Punk back in the day, but I've never really met anyone who was one of those 'ska-heads'. I saw these earlier this year and when 'Metalheads' was performed, I went insanely nostalgic. Less Than Jake - a fun band! First Scrobbled: 11th July 2012. Plays: 56
  14. 29. James – Sit Down Ew7Zkkucos8 This song was from my early childhood. When I was between the ages of 5 and 7, I used to go on holiday to West Wales quite a lot. On those car journeys to West Wales, my dad had a mixtape he would always play when we go there. This song was featured on there and since then, I haven't been able to get this great song out of my head. It's so uplifting and positive. Sit down next to me... First scrobbled: 10th April 2010. Plays: 56
  15. 30. Good Charlotte – The Anthem desJKYvdq9A One of my favorite bands of all time. Also my 8th most scrobbled artist on Last.fm. The Anthem came from 'The Young & The Hopeless', Good Charlotte's 2nd LP. This song, and that entire album, brings back many childhood memories, similar to that of Sum 41's 'Motivation'. I used to love Good Charlotte and Avril Lavigne back in the day! Punk Rock music from the early 00's was just brilliant. First scrobbled: 6th November 2009 Plays: 56
  16. 31. Sonic Boom Six – For the Kids of the Multiculture qS3oriHCZbk I remember discovering this song on The Sims 3 back in 2012. Had no idea what they were singing about because it was in Simlish! But the sound and the vocals of female singer Laila Khan really caught my attention in this track. I went on to listen to the whole track on Spotify in English before discovering how great this band really is. This song celebrates the multiculture in Britain, rather than slander it, as most do. It's a good perspective to look from and it has affected my view on other cultures and races within the UK; for the better of course. First Scrobbled: 29th August 2012. Plays: 56
  17. 32. Weezer – Buddy Holly kemivUKb4f4 First discovered this track from NOW 31 back in 2008, this was a song which really introduced me to Weezer. This song is such a catchy rock anthem and I wasn't fully aware of how popular it was! Despite its mediocre chart placing of No.12 back in '95, I know a lot of people who are fans of this track, and the band! But I can see why. It's a very positive sound. First Scrobbled: 8th November 2009. Plays: 55
  18. 33. Iggy Pop – The Passenger hLhN__oEHaw Not sure where I discovered this track. Could have been from a TV Adverts compilation album, but I can't say for sure. Either that, or I was looking up what song Fool Boona was sampling in their 1999 song 'Popped' - which featured on NOW 42. Either way, I discovered the original and fell in love with it instantly. 'Singing la la la la la.. lala la la, la la la la.. lala la la...' First Scrobbled: 16th December 2009. Plays: 55
  19. 34. Alphabeat – Boyfriend epoW4floslI Ever since they released 'Fascination' in 2008, I fell in love with this band. With their cheery attitude similar to that of Mika, Alphabeat always helped cheering me up whenever I felt down. For some bizarre reason, this song, above the likes of 'Fascination' and '10,000 Nights' had been played more, although I preferred those two more. They did release other singles after their debut album, and as much as I loved those, they didn't do that well in the chart, which is a real shame. Nonetheless, it's good to see an Alphabeat track in my Top 40 Scrobbles of the Past 5 Years. :) First scrobbled: 8th October 2009. Plays: 55
  20. 35. Kate Nash – Later On 2P7xICs1nKE During the summer of 2010, when Kate Nash released her second album 'My Best Friend Is You', I fell in love with it instantly. It held such doo-wop themed songs which was somewhat reminiscent of the 50's/60's rock 'n' roll era. This being one of two entries of Kate Nash in this top 40 chart. I saw her live during Spring 2011 when she was singing hits from her past two albums and some more 'riot grrrrl' songs which would later go on to be included in her 'Girl Talk' album. First scrobbled: 19th April 2010. Plays: 55
  21. 36. Tinie Tempah – Pass Out QzvGKas5RsU Wait what? What's this among all the rock songs? Just when things were going well, LEFT TURN. But in all seriousness, this grime track came out when I was first getting introduced to the club scene at the age of 18. A very energetic track, this song always got me stoked before I went out partying with all my friends back in 2010. Played in the clubs, before the clubs, on the radio; this song couldn't be avoided. First scrobbled: 8th March 2010 Plays: 55
  22. 37. Sum 41 – Motivation X-iBGSLkfCU This was one song that didn't feature on a NOW album. When I first downloaded Sum 41's 'Greatest Hits' back in 2010 I had not heard this song for a long, long time. Memories came flooding back and I became reminiscent of the 'mosher' boy I once was way back in Primary School. Baggy jeans and chains with the then current metal bands hoodies: Korn, Limp Bizkit etc.. First scrobbled: 3rd August 2010. Plays: 54
  23. 38. Feeder – Just a Day 3wzqGI_4fIM This song I first discovered when my friend and I were cruising down the motorway and this song popped up on his iPod (being plugged into an aux, of course). This song was also repeatedly played in my regular night club that I attend, and I never even knew what it was. When my friend told me the name of the track, I instantly looked it up and had it on for days. It's still floating around my top 20 today, racking up 10 weeks in the charts, the longest run to date! First scrobbled: 15th February 2012. Plays: 54
  24. 39. Blur – Parklife SIEsmGzo2UE Not really sure when I discovered this song for the first time as it got to No.10 in the UK charts in '94! I guess I didn't really discover it properly until early 2008 when I started to grow fond of the Now That's What I Call Music series and heard this on volume 29. I really enjoy the cockney accents used in this track, very lad-ish. Know what I mean? But it's more than that, it's a bit of an anthem about your everyday life which makes it all the more relate-able. First scrobbled: 11th October 2009 Plays: 54
  25. 40. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – The Impression That I Get NIGMUAMevH0 This song I first discovered when I was 8. When Digimon mania was around during the early 2000's I went to the cinema to watch Digimon: The Movie. This song was featured in it, albeit all too briefly. Rediscovered this when I became nostalgic about Digimon back in 2010 and have been enjoying this song ever since. It's a shame this kind of music wasn't that big here in the UK. :\ First scrobbled: 5th July 2010. Plays: 54
