08. Sophie Ellis-Bextor – Bittersweet yxR5YIb3Q-0 Huge fan of this pop diva. Her solo material after theaudience = great, 2nd album = meh, 3rd album (TTLF) = One Of The Best and then this single comes along. Thank you Freemasons, you fantastic production piece! I've always had a bit of a sweet tooth for Ellis-Bextor's classy, sophisti-pop. This is no exception. Such a fun and classy pop ditty that was so underrated in the charts! I have a huge crush on her and her vocal style. Stay classy, Sophie! First Played: 3rd May 2010. Plays: 77

09. Marina & the Diamonds – Hollywood n1VTcJfL7RE Next to Ellie, this is another artist that emerged during the early 2010 Indie craze. Great vocalist, but loved the music purely for its 80's sound. Everything about her is just straight up awesome. Loved everything about this song and the comparison to Catherine Zeta Jones - it's uncanny! But yeah, great tune.

@Ultraviolence - I think Warriors Dance is my fave too, simply because of its sample of 'Take Me Away', an old 90s dance classic! @James - Thanks! I'm a big fan of dance music, especially from before 2009. Since then, it seemed like R&B tried pushing in to make it that genres 'thing'.

Some new entries from other genres this time around, causing a stir to the top 20! The charts could see a transition and variation in music over time.. this is just the beginning. http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/126s/55811891.pnghttp://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/126s/97132249.jpghttp://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/126s/52707429.jpghttp://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/126s/77535930.jpghttp://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/126s/40048695.jpg :no1: Andrew W.K. - Party Hard - [18-11-11-2-1-1-1] (7 weeks) #2 BABYMETAL - Gimme Chocolate!! - [16-7-7-6-2] (5 weeks) #3 Schoolly D - Aqua Teen Hunger Force Theme (Remix) - [6-1-1-3-2-2-3] (7 weeks) #4 Hot Action Cop - Fever For The Flava - [19-5-3-4] (4 weeks) #5 Milk Inc. - Walk On Water - [5] (1 week) #6 Kelly Llorenna - Nobody Like You - [6] (1 week) #7 Andrew W.K. - Party Party Party - [4-3-15-6-4-7] (6 weeks) #8 Avenged Sevenfold - Lost - [5-4-4-4-5-8] (6 weeks) #9 Game Freak & Hitomi Sato – Global Terminal - [17-20-9] (3 weeks) #10 Goldfinger - Superman - [6-6-8-8-7-10] (6 weeks) #11 Feeder - Buck Rogers - [11] (1 week) #12 Tall Paul - Rock Da House 2006 - [12] (1 week) #13 The Prodigy - Omen - [13] (1 week) #14 Sum 41 - Nothing On My Back - [14] (1 week) #15 Feeder - Just A Day - [8-8-7-6-5-1-7-7-5-10-8-15] (12 weeks) #16 The Offspring - Special Delivery - [16] (1 week) #17 Enigma - Return To Innocence - [17] (1 week) #18 Less Than Jake - All My Best Friends Are Metalheads - [16-30[x]15-2-9-10-10-12-11-18] (10 weeks) #19 The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - The Impression That I Get - [19-12-12-11-13-15-19] (7 weeks) #20 Chicane feat. Breaking down into the Top 10 now, so I'll be releasing one a day, thus ending this a day before my 5-year anniversary with Last.fm. 10. Andrew W.K. – Party Hard WccfbPQNMbg Now this song has been my anthem in recent years. Upon discovering this song in the summer of 2012 it has been my 'choon' every time I go out and party. Whenever I go to my regular club in Cardiff, I always request it after a few drinks and when I least expect it, they play it! It sounds like a loud song, but it's just too much fun and so positive. Works just as well if you're a working person, gets you really pumped before going out, whether it's to see your friends or to go out partying. Andrew W.K.'s posts on Facebook are also really positive, here's an example: 'PARTY TIP: Stress is just your brain trying to distract you from noticing how amazing life is.' -- Andrew W.K., 2014. First Played: 6th July 2012. Plays: 73

11. Gabriella Cilmi – On a Mission ycmQpXWwT0c Really loved Gabriella's new approach to pop music, shame she didn't have a follow-up for this! As feminine as the song seems, I loved the fast paced tempo of the song and her vocals on it were brilliant! Whatever happened to Gabriella after this track? Would love to see her come back after all this time with some new material. First Played: 15th March 2010. Plays: 71

12. blink-182 – All the Small Things 9Ht5RZpzPqw The one song that single-handedly got me into the new wave of Punk Rock. It also defined me as a 'mosher' throughout the end of primary school and beginning of high school. The one song that started it all and I still love it to this very day. Such a great sound and great lyrics. Say it ain't so, I will not go... First Played: 11th November 2009. Plays: 69

13. Dario G – Sunchyme 1YTqmMDd3zs Loved this song as a kid, then re-visited in the summer of 2007, and still enjoy it to this very day. This is a summer anthem everyone can get their teeth sunk into, as shown in the NOW 38 voting thread! The video just adds that extra summer vibe in the African Savannah! This will be one killer song that I'll never forget, as it's both nostalgic and great for the summer time. Bring on the steel drums! First Played: 10th April 2010. Plays: 69

14. Sex Pistols – Friggin' in the Riggin' tRotvCVKAe8 At the time, I was obsessed with the Sex Pistols, with their rebellious 70s punk sound and their raucous lyrics they really got me into a decade I never really was fond of! I thank my mum for getting me into these as she's also a fan of them! Plus, this song sounds like a pirate song gone lad-ish! "Friggin' In The Riggin' cos there's f*ck all else to do!" First Played: 11th November 2009. Plays: 67

15. Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed PULdPep_xfs After listening to 'Wish I Stayed', I was interested to see what else Ellie could bring to the table. This song was polished at the time, and it worked really well with the whole 'dreamscape' effect. Put this next to Owl City's 'Fireflies' and it all feels like a dream! I really enjoyed this song at the time of its release, I guess Ellie's 'Lights' album was the album before Ellie made it big and 'sold out', I guess! Still interested to see what else she'll bring to the table with a talent like hers, though. First Played: 1st March 2010. Plays: 65

16. Doop – Doop tvLDm8821jQ As the comment for the song reads: 'Loved it or hated it this song was at number 1 for a few weeks in the UK back in 1994!' Found this song on a song pack for Stepmania way back in 2006! Not fully aware of the tune, I grew curious and checked out its Wikipedia page. Was very shocked to find it was a No.1 for 3 weeks in '94, let alone going right through my 2nd birthday! Such a great eurodance number, with the Charleston mixed into it! Although it's shine has since worn off since 2006, I'm still quite fond of the track. Also, pleased to see it on NOW 27 - first track of Disc 2 baby! First Played: 10th October 2009 Plays: 65

17. Eliza Doolittle – Pack Up dzY0-I4Gq5w First of all, the sample of that old wartime tune 'Pigbag' is brilliant. Really attracts the older listeners. Second, what a cute and quirky voice she has. Woven between the nostalgic sounding melodies that could only represent a retro style summer. Her debut album was good too, mind you. Also, as much as most people didn't like her follow-up album and lead single 'Big When I Was Little', I still enjoyed that tune thoroughly. Eliza's one to watch, IMO. First Played: 28th July 2010 Plays: 64

18. Avril Lavigne – Sk8er Boi TIy3n2b7V9k Another childhood 'mosher' track here. I was in love with Avril when 'Complicated' and this track made noise over the airwaves. The videos got me really attracted to the 'sk8er girl' stereotype. Still quite fond of her today, despite the er-hem, material she releases. But yeah, she's up there with the greats like Good Charlotte, Sum 41 and blink-182, loved her first two albums! I wonder if she'll ever return to that sound and theme? First Played: 29th October 2009. Plays: 61

19. Calvin Harris – I'm Not Alone a8TPXFoXO5A Highly anticipating Calvin's comeback in 2009 got me stoked, so when I saw this track get to No.1 I was more than impressed. Loved his transition into a more trance-style of dance from the indie-electronica of 2007. Such a hype tune! Mind you, his follow-up wasn't all that bad either. ;) First Played: 8th October 2009. Plays: 60

20. Scouting for Girls – On The Radio _LRdLzP0WZ8 Taken from their sophomore effort 'Everybody Wants To Be On TV', 'On The Radio' is a track that reminds me of the 50s/60s rock 'n' roll era, of which I highly adore. It sounds refreshing, fit for a summer soundtrack because of its positivity. I loved this song throughout 2011, pretty much being the highlight track of the summer! I remember playing it loads when I used to work for a hospital radio station, to help perk everyone up! First Played: 15th April 2010. Plays: 60

Good tunes, happy to see Diana Vickers chart in the top 10! Gutted about 'Americano', but also pleased with Kickstarts position. It's a mixed bag, this one.

Some heavy drops and a continuous run for a lucky band! A few re-entries and not much else. Another quiet week. Also, check out the random 5! Could a track you like be among them? 21. blink-182 – The Rock Show z7hhDINyBP0 More childhood nostalgia, yay! Just missing out on the top 20 is a tune that reminds me of what I could experience as a teen by going to gigs and otherwise. As I was only 9 years old when it came out, I wasn't aware of how much high school would change me as a person and prevent me from going to any gigs and concerts! But I wasn't to know that in 2001! Still, a classic choon. Again, part of my primary school 'mosher' phase, please refer back to 'Motivation' by Sum 41. ;) First Played: 20th March 2010. Plays: 59

22. Ellie Goulding – Wish I Stayed _52p5nylTIc Discovered this as a free download from the iTunes store, the acoustic version of course. Love the subtle vocals. Wasn't really impressed when it was released on the 'Lights' album fully produced, much prefer the stripped down version. Ever since, Ellie's been hit and miss with me, liking some tracks and disliking others, recently enjoying 'Anything Could Happen' but not really fond of 'Burn'. This is one of two Ellie tracks featured in my chart, so keep your eyes peeled! ;) First Played: 26th December 2009 Plays: 59

23. Florence + the Machine – Dog Days Are Over iWOyfLBYtuU I got into this track when I was growing more fond of Florence + The Machine's music. Enjoyed her cover of 'You Got The Love' and when this was re-released I was really digging it. Great sound and a great voice from a beautiful singer! Since then I've bought both her 'Lungs' and 'Ceremonials' albums, whilst celebrating her No.1 'Spectrum (Say My Name)', the Calvin Harris remix. Looking forward to more material from this artist! First played: 7th February 2010. Plays: 59

24. Yello – Oh Yeah 8Q7FFjUpVLg I think I found this track on The Simpsons, theme for Duff Man, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off! Hilarious song and random lyrics, I grew really addicted to this track! My friends in college at the time also jumped on the 'Oh Yeah' bandwagon and played it whenever one of our Media Studies lecturers walked into the room! Good times... First Scrobbled: 10th November 2009. Plays: 58

25. Kelly Clarkson – My Life Would Suck Without You cRM70Jw7F4M This song I really enjoyed, for reasons unknown. It could be because it was big at around the time I had a dream about Kelly Clarkson. I think she was my girlfriend? I can't remember. :P Anyway, I really enjoyed this track and the album it came from, so much so I bought the album 'All I Ever Wanted' on CD! Not really fond of her material after this album, so I'll be holding out hope that she releases some good stuff in the future! First Scrobbled: 8th October 2009. Plays: 58

26. Barenaked Ladies – One Week fC_q9KPczAg I must have discovered this song, everywhere, when I was a kid. No matter where you looked, what film you saw, this song would have featured on it. Digimon: The Movie strikes again and I believe it featured on Shrek as well? I'd be interested to see what other films this track appeared in. But still, another classic! First Scrobbled: 18th October 2009. Plays: 57

27. Mark Ronson & The Business Intl – Somebody To Love Me EAZv7V4gkGs I really enjoyed 'Bang Bang Bang' by Mark Ronson and his crew, so I decided to download the album 'Record Collection'. It featured some great corkers on it, including this one ditty. I was all over it during 2010/2011 and couldn't get enough of it. Although I can hardly remember the song itself now, back then I was obsessed and couldn't get enough! I would love to see a follow-up to the album this track came from. First scrobbled: 23rd October 2010. Plays: 57
