oh y’all want emo?

gonna set it up now

King

Lowkey my entry might put everyone to sleep but hopefully in the good, trance-like meditative way not the bad bored to tears way 🙏 it’s close to the end at least

I could stay awake I guess since I don’t have to get up for anything tn x

oops I might not make it then, just got back from work so I’ll be asleep then If I’m miraculously still awake I might do it tho, I don’t have work tonight

are we doing semi 1 tonight or tomorrow x depending on when I could probably host a stream on discord

we need the gamers (iz or Jacob or dirca who doesn’t do Bjsc but imagine if he did! We would all be treated to triple j hottest 100 every month)

Probably not gonna make this listenthrough unless you do semi 1 on Wednesday but whatever’s best for everyone is fine by me x

uhsting is 40?

Edit

bjsc 187 | great grandpa – split up the kids from four of arrows (2019) a song about domestic strife, the fracturing of a family, and the scars that remain for generations after

don’t think I’ve heard anything here, though really excited to hear iceage as I haven’t heard their recent stuff yet. much like DIIV, I loved them when they came out but both kind of fell off my radar until the past couple years. and both appear to be having a kind of renaissance moment which is heartening to see. also excited to hear sophia stel from the other semi! haven’t heard this particular song but I was listening to her heavy earlier this year

tbh even for the alt stuff I really despise the playlist curation on spotify… it’s all so vibey with zero editorial control or regard for the context of a scene or genre. this one’s a little old but I’ll use it as an example: deftones and smashing pumpkins in shoegaze classics.. like yeah they had fuzzy guitars, lots of distortion and reverb but that was nowhere near their scene!!! Ahistorical nonsense

there is no need to question people’s intent when sending songs, just as there is no need to question integrity when voting (e.g. whether everyone has listened to every second of every song no matter the length). it is simply not that serious lmao. this is a song contest not an election, assume good faith!

if y’all want to feel vaguely disappointed by 2 minutes of fleeting pleasure just open up Grindr

Philadelphians will tell you they are in a different state entirely but yes lol

July

yes but I might be scaring the hoes (or putting them to sleep*) for a little… sorry to disappoint :~( (*though if the whispers of “alt ballad” are correct maybe we are not so out of step with the hivemind after all)
