  1. Altyr for their consistent taste
  2. I’d like to point out that I didn’t get my first choice on PF! Hoping my 12 pointer does well - but so many good songs here
  3. Was driving home from work and realised I’d forgotten to vote in one category Enjoyed this category and not really any songs I didn’t like Damien Rice - beautiful song with great lyrics Sam Smith - love his vocal on this Tom Grennan - his voice made me feel things! Decent song HRVY - grew on me with multiple listens Darin - fave song of his so far Sam Fender - not totally sure I understand the hype but liked Gary Numan - did not know Basement Jaxx used this song! Grew on me with listens Roosevelt - similar to Sam Fender, not sure if I get the hype but liked Calvin Harris - had to get over the fact that there is no male vocal here, but generally liked Lewis Capaldi - liked but kept forgetting how it went. Know he’s got better to come though :)
  4. Bananarama - Bad For Me Years & Years - Ties Texas - Like Lovers Iamamiwhoami - shadowshow New Order - Love Vigilantes Sade - Pearls Fontaines D.C - Sundowner Ultravox - Accent On Youth Depeche Mode - Photographic M83 - Lower Your Eyelids Was intrigued by this set of songs but tbh none of them have wowed me/I can’t see myself listening to any of them again
  5. Marina - Teen Idle - a personal fave of mine, I had this on constant repeat when Electra Heart was released. Vocals and lyrics are superb Dido - Mary’s In India - I’m a bit heartbroken this has struggled Ngl. Love the story telling aspect of this song and Dido sounds amazing Leona Lewis - Outta My Head - why the hell was this not a single?! Tuuuune Robyn - Time Machine - solid choice Agnes - Loaded - enjoyed the production and vocals on this Adele - Can I Get It - still feels like a risky choice to me but it’s catchy enough and it will keep her in the competition Zara Larsson - Blue Moon - took some listens to grow on me Sophie Ellis Bextor - New York City Lights - liked but wanted it to be bigger Kate Bush - Reaching Out - looooved her vocals on this but found the chorus underwhelming Jessie Ware - The Kill - liked but kept forgetting how it went Strongest category for me and all 10 would be nowhere near the bottom in the other categories

Adam Tucker is on the voice this year?! Originally knew of him because of Leeds Contemporary Choir (who won Pitch Battle a few years ago) but he’s now the guy who sings as Robbie Williams in the biopic about him

I will get a top 10 in the next 12 months (if I say it enough it will happen....)
  8. I think HRVY is more than safe I’d have said the battle to go is between Calvin, Tom, Lewis and Damien. Expect the latter to go with the pure pop fans putting him bottom in all of their rankings
  9. Jamiroquai
  10. Does this work?

Putting this as a placeholder! Unrelated to that 'pop' contest that is currently going on in that other forum, Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice is teasing something for next year - assume it will be a series of gigs to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his biggest selling album 'O' https://www.instagram.com/reel/DeAPT26MRlz/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&stkn=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

  13. Kesha would have looooooved that……
  14. Lol! And you don’t get any enjoyment from exploring music that is outside of your comfort zone?
  15. I’m getting the feeling some of the act choices have really hit a nerve with people! I am intrigued though as to why none of you are referencing the group category - donde esta la pop in that group?!
  16. From memory his debut was a word of mouth success - spent ages in the charts and spawned a few hits His music was used in a lot of tv shows of the time and he was covered a lot in X Factor (Diana Vickers, some random teacher and then Little Mix).
  17. Gary Numan for 8th or higher!!!
  18. I mean wouldn’t multiple artists in the competition fall into alternative/alt-leaning? Gary Numan Damien Rice Roosevelt Kate Bush Iamamiwhoami M83 And I wouldn’t class numerous others as pure pop I can’t believe me, of all people based on my pop heavy BJSC entries, is one of the people advocating for diversity in pop music!
  19. Johnny has allegations against him?
  20. I mean Ngl I would prefer some variety I was heavily into cheesy pop before I discovered indie pop and more singer/songwriter artists. All are examples of pop music
  21. Of the 3 categories this feels increasingly wide open. Actually worried for Tom Grennan and Lewis Capaldi as they are not getting the top scores that Calvin and Damien have been getting

Actually found some of the noises distracting It’s like a GCSE music project!
