  1. iTunes Album Chart now totally meaningless, nothing to factor in how long an Album has been available pre-Order. Likely Albums recently made Pre-Order will be higher than Albums with a long period of availability to order.
  2. Next week will probably be Drake on terminally low sales.

I think the Script will beat Gaga/Tony Bennett.

Yes I also went for The Script given it is their first compilation Album and 5 out of 6 Studio Albums made it to the top.

I am slightly surprised by the really low Sales for Genesis compilation this week but I guess they have released a few compilations over the years!

  3. Still see enough on the Release Schedule and also Olivia Rodrigo's Album to keep number 1 Sales above 10k over the summer.

In other words and even though we are in Olympic year :) I don't think we will get close to a new record low!

  4. Given the low Album Sales this week I thought I would give this thread a bump as it is a safe assumption that someone will be competing with Blossoms for the unenviable title of lowest weekly sales for #1 Album.

After all it happens every four years.

Well it happens every four years and it is nearly upon us...feel like we are in for a bumper year of new lows!

  5. oh I imagined Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott would be an easy #1

Their last album in 2017 was #2 with 23.5K beaten by Lana's LFL by 1K

by comparison, the last Deacon Blue album went to #13 with 4.9K sales in 2016

Could yet still be that Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott finish above Deacon Blue overall but there is an upward trend with Deacon Blue's chart positions and given the reviews of "City Of Love" suspect they will make the Top 10 again for the first time since 1994 !

Ironic looking at this thread again that Bieber’s last Album was reduced to £5.99 four years ago in an (unsuccessful) attempt to get to #1.

  7. Selena not beating Celeste is not the bestest sign for her album

Selena should go Top 10 (Overall) with this Album though which will be the first time for her.

Personally think 'Rare' is a poor title for an Album as for some it could imply it contains rare cuts (eg David Bowie's 'Rare' and others).

  8. Very interesting list Vidcapper, thanks as always for this.

Always find it interesting to see which number 1's from the year missed the Y/E T100 - looks like it was the eclectic group of

    Michael Ball (Solo Album)

    Slipknot

    Dermot Kennedy

    Elbow

    Foals (Second Album)

    Stereophonics

    The Script

A bit ironic that the First Foals Album of the year that got to #2 made it in the Y/E T100 but their Second Album of the year that got to #1 didn't!

I guess if we are looking for the luckiest Albums of the year to get to #1 this is the list (possibly with exception of Stereophonics and The Script which were released late in the year).

  9. Top 3 very close now. Wouldn't like to say who will be in pole position next week.

It is looking increasingly likely that Ed Sheeran will triumph in the Year End chart but somehow feel Lewis Capaldi will benefit significantly from many TV appearances in the run-in to Xmas.
