May be a slight exaggeration there - realistically no.1 Album until May (Kasabian releasing on 28th April) and no.1 Single until April (Harry Styles releasing something on 7th April).

I'm guessing the "15 No.1 Singles, 9 No.1 Albums" in your signature is Gary Barlow's accumulated total ie Solo & Take That?

I think we have the answer all ready! Btw I know TT have different formats in the Amazon Best Sellers but despite all the Promotion they have managed so far the highest selling Format ( the Deluxe edition) is behind Vera Lynn (and Rag 'N' Bone Man & Ed).

Yes I'm sure there will be Articles in the press when Q1 is over highlighting an increase in Album Sales in 2017 and declaring the Album format is back on the rise. The reality is just the Release schedule has been especially healthy so far this year.

Yes, that was my thought as well, Kasabian releasing in Ed's ninth week of Release should get enough Sales to secure top spot although there could be a Harry Styles release before I guess.

Clear run now for Divide to equal the initial eight consecutive weeks at the top that Multiply achieved.
  7. I was hoping that Drake was going to break Stormzy's recent record for most songs by one Artist to leave Top 40 in one week - maybe not then.
  8. Looking more like a spoof this year - I guess the clue was Ed Sheeran teaming up with People Just Do Nothing...

Yes, Take That still only at 3, doesn't look good for them overall although they will be strong with physical sales.

ie not as good as an Album, a mixed bag of Songs. In my view the categorization is a technicality, "More Life" is sat at the top of iTunes Top Albums and should be considered as an Album (but may be Drake didn't have the confidence for it to be considered as a Full Album release).

Album Sales were low yesterday ( probably lowest in the week again ) and the fact that "Divide" sold less than 20k does mean that Ed will need to double that daily rate for next 2 days to make 200k. A tall order but we do see a high percentage of Sales getting added late in the week.

Whilst I agree with most of what you say last Tuesday's Sales figure (approx 26.5k) for Divide was the lowest daily number in the week (it was odd given it sold approx 36.3k on Monday and 33.2k on Wednesday), I guess Tuesday is typically the lowest Sales day for Albums (for added Sales).

Ed is not quite going to make 200k this week is he with "Divide" unless there is a late boost due to run-up to Mother's Day? Sales still holding up well and he should make 120k next week which will surely be enough to hold off Take That?
  14. For all the negative comments about the Drake takeover what is undeniable is he is an incredibly prolific Artist (more than Prince in his heyday). I would agree there may be a case for a bit more quality control but the amount of songs he releases is impressive. If he keeps releasing at same rate I can see Drake breaking records for number of songs to chart (overall).

Shame really given the excellent Reviews they have had for this Album and especially as they actually have something significant to say. Also thought the James Ford production might have tempted some AM fans.

With all the publicity surrounding Dame Vera Lynn's Birthday today she may yet overtake Depeche Mode, she seems to have increased Sales quite significantly based on current Amazon best sellers. Looking like she will be behind Ed and Drake though.

Depeche Mode's last two Studio Albums peaked at 2, wouldn't be surprised if they get three in a row. Amazing that "Violator" only got to number 2 as well - Classic Album! At least they got to number 1 with the two Albums after "Violator".
  18. Elvis is in that Club, not sure of anybody else (The Beatles are not).
  19. Yes, do we know who is left in this club?

As the thread is about Singles comebacks I guess one of the most impressive was Pink Floyd in 1979 with "Another Brick In The Wall (Part II)", got to number 1 after about 12 years of not releasing Singles!
  21. Believer by Imagine Dragons back on the rise after being used in BBC advert tonight, hope there is some (chart) life left in it.

Ouch for Little Mix, that's quite a drop (down 24 from last Friday) for "No More Sad Songs", needs some Promotion from somewhere

Take That's previous Studio Album "III" started with Sales of 144,538 in Dec 2014, Would suspect this comeback will generate fewer opening Album Sales given it is not the run-in to xmas and there doesn't seem to be too much excitement around their return. It will be Ed's fourth week but his substantial streaming may make the difference.
  24. For those that like their pop quizzes suggest they remember that it was The Chainsmokers and Coldplay that prevented a Top 10 Ed takeover, sure to be a question in years to come! Whether you agree with what happened this week or not there is no doubt it was a momentous Chart that will be remembered for quite some time. Well until next week anyway.....
  25. Ed still needs songs to peak at 11, 16, 17 and 20 then to complete the Top 20 peak positions across the board, not as lucky as he could have been on that front!
