  1. So Stormzy broke the Dropout record with six!
  2. Yes, it wasn't the best advert for them as people was it? Great TV though.
  3. Hope a third Series of "Steps The Big Reunion" has been commissioned by ITV. May be that was considered a step too far (like that pun).

Last week Stormzy's Album achieved 22% of his weekly Album Sales added on Thursday but he had benefit of "campaign". If Ed manages 16% of his weekly Album Sales added today then he will break 700K. It may be a struggle though given Ed's Album was more successful on pre-order (and consequently a higher percentage will have been added at the beginning of the week).

My money is on a torrent of streams added for today to push it over 700K! I'm talking more than Stormzy proportions, a Sheer, violent disturbance of the atmosphere!
  6. Actually found an Article in the Independent (Ireland) revealing the identity of "Galway Girl", the fiddle player in the aforementioned Irish folk band Beoga, Niamh Dunne. So not only does she have the Writing credit but the song is partially about her. She does, however, doubt this inspiration as she is from Limerick !

Looking like 19 and 20 will not be achieved this week given the (almost) total dominance!
  8. Ah thanks, now noticed 5 of the Writers are in Irish Folk Music Group Beoga, nice little earner for them!
  9. One of the surprising things about "Galway Girl" for me is there are 9 writers on the Credits for a 2:50 track! Was it just a case of everyone in the Studio at the time of Recording got a credit...

Given "Galway Girl" has made it to the top of Spotify should be ok for the number 2 spot overall this week?

I guess Stormzy will be breaking the record of most Songs by one Artist leaving the Top 40 in a week.

    Lana down to 73

I see you stopped short of thank god for the Chainsmokers!

Lorde should be able to continue to climb though, not sure the same can be said of Lana unfortunately, hope she can in a week or two.

Ed will be playing Top 20 Bingo this week with the hope of completing the full House of Top 20 peak positions in his career, he just needs 6, 10, 11, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20 (I am including the peak positions he had of 7 and 12 as a featured artist). Wonder if there are any Artists that have achieved that before.
  16. Yes, It was one of those Live favorites that was very well known. On reflection though I may be a bit optimistic thinking it would have got in the Top 10 at that time given The Smiths only had 3 Top 10 Singles in their entire career and their highest charting Single got to number 8.
  17. Another example of an Album track that was an absolute classic that wasn't released as a Single when the Album came out ("There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths) in 1986. It was subsequently released 6 years later after The Smiths split up. The song has been covered by numerous Artists including (rather bizarrely) Miley Cyrus on a recent Tour.
  18. "The Masterplan" by Oasis was a B-Side as well before it appeared on an Album (One of the B-sides on "Wonderwall"). They really gave value for money in those days!
  19. Ok I will end but from my perspective it is disappointing that we can't give a definitive explanation for the 15k+ Sales or even an approximate suggestion of the breakdown (streaming/download/physical) I stuck to the facts based on what we know, I wasn't really too fussed whether Stormzy or Rag 'N' Bone made it to the top last week but was just looking for a more detailed explanation of how the campaign was successful, if we can't provide that I understand.
  20. Agreed and we can work out the streams accumulated on Wed & Thu, we have that number (7548). Based on this the anomaly must be the massive spike in physical and download on Thursday, this doesn't quite seem right to me though.
  21. I have read the discussion but it doesn't explain the anomaly of Thursday's Sales. I acknowledge you guys are the experts and have access to more data but there is definitely something odd with the 15k+ Sales for Stormzy. Avoiding the discussion on Streams getting added because we know the limit of this so I will stick to the FACTS: Maximum SES added on Wednesday & Thursday = Total Streams for Week - Streams Accumulated in Wed's update = 20,748 - 13,200 (approx. as per Doctor Blind) = 7548 So out of Sales for Thu (15k+) physical and download account for more than 7452 (based on 15,000 - 7548) even ignoring that some of the 7548 SES would be added for Wednesday. The anomaly is that these Sales are considerably more than even the total Sales reported for Wednesday, it implies there was either a massive spike in Sales for physical and download (but the Charts on Thursday didn't Support this as he was still behind Rag 'N' Bone Man in various charts) or figures were incorrectly reported somewhere along the week.
  22. Never doubted that streams are added through the week, you are missing the point. Just explain how you believe the 15k+ Sales for Thursday are broken down.
  23. Sorry to drag this up again but as nobody has even offered a plausible explanation for the approximation for the 15k+ Sales attributed to Stormzy on Thu there can only be one conclusion...I'm sorry JosephStyles but on deeper analysis into the figures your argument doesn't stand up this time. Even it was a broken down to be a generous 30% streams on Wed, 30% streams on Thu, 20% downloads, 20% physical the numbers don't make logical sense (given the reported Streaming figures from earlier in the week).
  24. Yes seems consistent with the James Masterson numbers from Monday as well.

Clearly a foregone conclusion this week (and the next few weeks) so not going to be too much discussion but shout out to danG on his prediction for last week, close though.
