The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread- 3rd March 2017
Agreed and it makes no logical sense that 15k+ Sales were added on Thursday given the numbers being talked about , nobody has really explained what they think the breakdown of these Sales are, even a plausible approximation?

The Buzzjack Friday Chart Show Thread- 3rd March 2017
True but streams for Stormzy's Album for week accounted for 20,748 sales, don't forget we got the streaming percentage for Monday's update accounting for 19% (presumably without a days streams) courtesy of James Masterson ie approx 6,593 sales. We have more information this week than usual, the percentage rose to 30% by the end of the week. We can explain this with a combination of the extra day's streams and the hype team's efforts but given the reported margins on Wed and Thu there is clearly an anomaly ( Stormzy only sold 5.8k on Wednesday when the campaign had all ready started and yet increased sales to 15k+ on Thursday).

Yes, it was £5.99 on Wednesday as well, a day when when Rag 'N' Bone outsold Stormzy by 3.4k. For all the explanations above nobody has explained how Stormzy was outsold by 3.4k on Wednesday and yet somehow sold 6.5k more than Rag 'N' Bone Man on Thursday, the margin of turnaround is too big from the logic provided.

No, Stormzy was down by 2.7k in the Thursday update but his winning margin was 3859 therefore his Sales were 6559 (approx) more than Rag 'N' Bone Man on Thursday, I don't think this was explained?

I know you have provided an explanation but the Maths don't fully support it I'm afraid and this week has highlighted the discrepancy more than a regular week because of Stormzy's impressive streams.

Nobody doubts that streaming is added throughout the week but the percentage added on Thursday is higher than expected even taking into account the points made above, surely we will have access to the daily figures at some point to analyse???

Would be interesting to see a breakdown per day as I agree with you there is a higher than expected amount (even taking into consideration that Thursday's streaming total will take into account two days worth of streams).

"World Exclusive" Performance of "Supermarket Flowers", a bit of a surprise!

Ed performing twice on "The One Show", first up "Castle On The Hill", an acoustic version...

I have seen short term boosts in the past, may be not significant but anyway Ed is on "The One Show" as well in an hour or so, I will be surprised if he doesn't regain the lead by the end of the day (with whatever he performs).

and Coldplay ! May be not for long though...I am sure Ed/Stormzy will get a significant boost after the Chart Show!

Impressive that Stormzy made it to be the Number 1 Album. Yet again we see a higher percentage of streams getting added on the last day (more than we would proportionally expect even allowing for the fact they are added one day later during the week).

Looks like The Chainsmokers & Coldplay will sneak to the top on iTunes for a short time before the Ed takeover!

For me Lorde's David Bowie Tribute at the Brits last year was flawless and gave her more credibility than I think she previously had. Hope "Green Light" smashes, she was described as "the future of music" afterall!

Ed seems to be hyping up "Perfect" as the monster song from the Album, wonder whether he may perform that and propel it to number 1.

"Green Light" for go, new single from Lorde, available from tomorrow at some point. Interested to see how it does, she definitely couldn't have chosen a more competitive first week.

Really hope she doesn't get stuck at 41 for another week! Is it just a Top 40 update today? Any news on the possibility of Imagine Dragons moving up?

Friday Chart Predictions
Wow - he is really going for it now. Looking at Stormzy's Twitter feed for today some of it smacks of desperation especially "Make sure you get your hard copy before they run out!". Looks like it is going down to the wire but the last minute surge of streaming may be enough to seal the number 1 spot!

Survey - Preferred music format by age
Over 40 and still purchase physical albums but I am one of those (some might say sad) cases that whilst I still need the physical album I purchase via Amazon and listen to the auto-rip download. Sometimes I don't even un-wrap the CD these days but need the physical copy as I have collected all the other Albums for that Artist over the years. Pay for Spotify for my 2 Daughters though.

It has been bugging me what other Artist "Mixed Signals" sounds like, definitely not Bon Jovi but it could pass as Eighties soft rock. The Guardian described it as "cartoon Bruce Springsteen" and other reviews referred to it as "a Killers cast-off". For me it is definitely the best track on the Album but that's possibly because Eighties is my era!

Friday Chart Predictions
Nine new entries in yesterday's Top 40 Singles update and still no Imagine Dragons. As it is in the current Top 40 for downloads and streaming wonder whether it may have a chance to sneak in this week (or next week) after the Stormzy tornado abates...

I don't think the BRITs version was made available was it? COTH was even though it was less than 2 minutes.

Top 100 Singles/Albums (Combined + Sales + Streaming)
Decent but hardly amazing, personally think it has underperformed so far, "John Wayne" should have been the push it needed but a peak position of 180 after the Video release doesn't bode well.
