  1. Not bad but that is just from their Debut Album I was really looking for an Artist that had sustained more than 50% singles over first 3 Albums.
  2. On playing George Michael's first three Solo UK Studio Albums this morning I noticed a high percentage of (UK) Singles on the Albums (more than 50% overall), Faith 6 out of 11 tracks Listen Without Prejudice 5 out of 10 tracks Older 6 out of 11 tracks (only including 1 track for Double A Single "You Have Been Loved / The Strangest Thing '97" but arguably 7 out of 11 tracks released as Singles). So 17 out of 32 overall (all Top 50 charted Singles). Are there any other Artists out there that have released more than 50% Singles from their first 3 Studio Albums?
  3. "The Adele Story" was on Channel 5 last night, didn't watch it and I guess the viewing figures were low (given it was on Channel 5) but should give "Water Under The Bridge" / "25" a small boost.

You are spot on and credit to Andrew Ridgeley, he was often criticized but he has shown commendable judgement in this case.

Ball & Boe back on top of the Amazon Best Sellers, wonder whether they can snatch a third week at the top. I guess the lack of stock for George Michael's "Ladies & Gentlemen" will probably prevent it from being the fifth posthumous number 1 Album of the year. Little Mix still looking strong on iTunes downloads.

I think "Ladies & Gentlemen" still has a chance of the top spot this week, it is number 9 on 2 days of strong Sales ( other Albums at top have had 5 days of strong sales). It is currently number 1 on the Best sellers on Amazon as well as top of ITunes ( for what is a very reasonable price for a double Album ). Obviously we don't know the margin of the lead for Little Mix and the price reduction for most of the Albums at top will have helped them but would be fitting to see a number 1 for George Michael this week. If not he'll get there next week.

    Yes - unpredictable :D

Prediction thread doesn't just need mids, it's about more than just that, reacting to the events of the week and how they affect the Singles and Album chart.

As we have no Predictions thread open (why, it's Tuesday) I thought I would mention that some of the best selling Albums are significantly reduced on Amazon (Ball & Boe £4.99, Elvis and Little Mix £5), should stave off George Michael getting to top until the first chart of 2017?

Ladies & Gentlemen up to 3 on Amazon (4 on iTunes) but George Michael/Wham! occupying Top 25 of "Movers and Shakers" chart, he obviously didn't have that many Albums out but several versions of same Album doing well.

Number 1 I'm sure (on iTunes), number 1 overall a possibility as well although a difficult week as traditionally a high sales week.
  12. Unfortunately yes, very sad.
  13. Terrible news, George Michael has passed away (aged 53), expect a few classics to re-enter the Top 100.
  14. Rag 'n' Bone man up 3 for a third week in a row, surely the next number 1

One of the best trends in the end of year Album charts is the rise of the Albums rated highest by the critics. David Bowie, Radiohead and this week Beyoncé have re-entered the Top 100 in recent weeks. Love tracking the aggregate of the End of Year lists Album Of The Year

Sales this week should be enough to take Little Minx into YTD Sales Top 10 and they should be ok for 400k overall this year but will be close.

Presumably the chart announced on the 30th December will still count as a 2016 week though won't it ? I can see CB staying at number 1 this week and Rag N Bone Man getting there next week...

Yes, wouldn't be surprised if they get another week at the top in the week after Christmas as well (ie after the Ball & Boe Sales have dropped off). Possible they will go 3->2->1...

Ball & Boe should get to 100k this week but only just. They are up on last Monday's Sales (by about 4.8k) but it is looking like this will be the only Album to break 100k this week which is poor in the week before Christmas!

Only once in Q4 I think (ie Rolling Stones), Bowie did it in Q1.

I know there has only been passing comments on the Album chart so far this week but it may be a bit harsh to say there is "nothing interesting", the real interest will be on the Sales and how it affects the YTD positions (if the Sales YTD Top 3 ends up with 3 Albums released from last year it will reinforce the fact this year has been missing the real classic Albums). Don't disagree with the Albums mentioned for Top 5 but placings may be different.

It did sound a bit weak at the start but he is never at his best when relying just on his voice.

Robbie and Olly still leading the Promo stakes this weekend, Olly sneaking in an appearance on "National Lottery Live" but Robbie singing "Love My Life" on "Sports Personality of the Year" again getting the bigger audience. Despite this still looking like Olly's Album will come on top (of the two)
  24. Yes agreed, curiously the Article from Music Week from today reported last week's cumulative total. As they are now at 976,206 they will do easily.
  25. Should reach 1 million Sales soon (Maybe not this year though), "Ghost Stories" will be seen as a bit of a blip ie their only Studio Album not to reach 1 million Sales.
