Buzzjack's Alternative Songs of the 1990s
Damn, you're right. My mistake for nominating it though (I recall being rather tired when I did them, so it's no surprise that I nominated this and a Muse song from 2000 in error.) I can't think of another Eels song from their first two albums to replace it (at least not one that I'd want to nominate). As a substitute Colm, I'll settle for Depeche Mode's 'World In My Eyes' (I'll edit it into my original nominations post).

They're albums. Sorry, I probably should've made that a bit clearer...

Mercury Prize 2016
Out of ones that haven't been mentioned yet, Minor Victories and Yak have released great debuts this year which I think could maybe get nominated. Second albums from Eagulls and Teleman, whose debuts weren't nominated, were also pretty good as well.

Catfish & the Bottlemen - The Ride
'Soundcheck' has ended up being my favourite track on the album. And it actually took me a while to get into them too, mostly because I found them at first to be a slightly below-average indie band ("Think of Razorlight if they were a bit more middle-of-the-road", was how I described the album to someone around the time of its release). Said description is something I still agree with to a certain extent, and it does slightly baffle me as to how they've ended up selling so many albums when there's been far superior releases by Mystery Jets, The Vaccines, The Cribs, et al in the time since 'The Balcony' was released, which perhaps deserve more attention. But still, they're far from terrible and I tend to be a sucker for most indie bands, so that's probably why I've ended up liking them

Róisín Murphy - Take Her Up to Monto
I don't think it's that bad tbh, but then again it's hardly as great as the artwork from the 'Overpowered' era is it? Still, this GIF of her is one of my favourite things at the moment... It certainly is, though I probably should've mentioned that in the first post actually. Moloko were actually pretty good, though I personally prefer the two albums from the mid/late '90s that were released prior to their period of bigger commercial success.

Róisín Murphy - Take Her Up to Monto
http://static.idolator.com/uploads/2016/04/roisin-murphy-take-her-up-to-monto-album-cover-compressed.jpg Róisín Murphy releases her fourth solo album this Friday. It follows last year's rather excellent (in my opinion, at least) Mercury-nominated 'Hairless Toys', which was her first proper release in almost 8 years, so thankfully we haven't had to wait anywhere near as long for this new record. 1. Mastermind 2. Pretty Gardens 3. Thoughts Wasted 4. Lip Service 5. Ten Miles High 6. Whatever 7. Romantic Comedy 8. Nervous Sleep 9. Sitting and Counting E4xe-qiKE00

Boy Bands vs. Girl Groups
New Order are listed as a boy-band, yet I believe they had a female keyboardist? Also, considering Dodgy are listed in there, you might as well have various other bands from the Britpop era like Blur, Oasis and Suede, to name a few. Except for Pulp though, as they had a female keyboardist just like New Order, funnily enough.

I'm quite surprised that I own 34 of these - I didn't think I'd have that many! 21 on CD, 5 on Vinyl and the remaining 8 as downloads.

Music Purchases This Week: Week Beginning 1/7/16
I got mine from Amazon, but I think they should have it as they're stocking the limited 7" vinyl in some branches (according to Twitter) so I can't see why they wouldn't stock the CD if they're stocking the 7". However, I'll warn you that it's only a one-track single and I paid £4.99 for it so it is quite overpriced, to say the least...

Metronomy - Summer 08
Metronomy have a new album out tomorrow so I thought I'd do a thread for it before I forget. The tracks that have been released up until today sound pretty good (better than most of 'Love Letters', in my opinion). Robyn guests on a track too, which (for me, at least) is an excuse to get excited for this. 1. Back Together 2. Miami Logic 3. Old Skool 4. 16 Beat 5. Hang Me out to Dry (featuring Robyn) 6. Mick Slow 7. My House 8. Night Owl 9. Love’s Not an Obstacle 10. Summer Jam 7CiVF7LjKU8 b1YZOWvBzAA
