Vinyl sales soar by more than 60%
I'll admit to buying quite a few LPs lately without currently owning a turntable, as well as raiding my parents collections for the good stuff. I hope to get one for my birthday in July though, as I'm pretty stuck for cash to fork out for one currently.

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
As long as it can remain within the Top 100 on there and actually climb over the next few days, it could do alright. Katherine Jenkins is at 164 at time of writing, but did have an advantage of a signed edition a few weeks ago (which sold out pretty quickly like you'd expect), so it could be a close one between them both. I imagine Katy will fare well on iTunes though compared to Katherine.

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
I thought the same, as the only new release album that week to do more than 5k is probably Katherine Jenkins. Katy B might do over 10k though. Her last album opened with just shy of 23k.

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
I was quite surprised as well. The only other time they've given any of her albums a score lower than 7 was with Uh Huh Her (5) and Is This Desire (6), which I find is ridiculously underrated by most critics. Also, over on the topic of how bare the album releases are, Katy B has been pushed forward from the 29th to the 22nd, according to Amazon anyway...
-
New Release Schedule: Friday 8 April
Katy B's Honey has been brought forward to the 22nd (I got an email from Amazon about it just now), presumably because of the Drake release and the fact it's a quieter week for album releases.

All Saints // 🚩 Red Flag 🚩
Couldn't resist for £3.94 and free delivery, even if that's a little bit more than what I would've liked to have paid for it, but I suppose it fills a hole in the collection. The only other way they're likely to get them shifted is by sending a free copy with every purchase of 'Red Flag'

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
Her lowest charting album (aside from her two John Parish collaboration albums), Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea is ironically, her best seller, though that's largely down to it winning the Mercury in 2001 I suppose. NME only gave the new album a 6/10, but given that the 10/10 for her last album was awarded by the man who is now the magazine's editor, it wouldn't surprise me if they make a big story about it, like how they did with James last month despite not reviewing it or their last four albums. Also, Let England Shake reached #8 in the same week as the 2011 Brit Awards occured, resulting in many winners/performers from that night overtaking her, which is a disadvantage she had then but won't be having this time around.

New Release Schedule: Friday 8 April
Skepta's Konnichiwa has just been confirmed to be out on May 6th. Not up for pre-order yet, but there are a couple of posts on his Instagram about it along with news articles on NME and Mixmag.

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
Indeed, Let England Shake got a rare 10/10 NME review and she won the Mercury Prize for the second time with it in 2011. If she gets #1, I'll be very, very happy. As for Drake, I've been thinking the exact same thing! Though his album is actually an Apple Music exclusive for its first week, according to articles on NME and Pitchfork, so it will be interesting how that does in its opening week.

All Saints // 🚩 Red Flag 🚩
'Ratchet Behaviour' is the only track I've been skipping - though it could take me a few listens to appreciate I suppose... A strong album, nevertheless. I've belatedly picked up the deluxe version of 'Studio 1' this week, as Amazon seem to have a fair bit of leftover stock, presumably thanks to Parlophone's over-estimations (as Jay said as to why it's certified Gold) so hopefully that'll arrive in the post tomorrow.

La Roux - Supervision
I definitely agree with this. I remember hating the debut when it came out (I was 12 at the time, which is understandable, but I appreciate it more now and picked it up for like £2 second-hand). I remember hearing 'Uptight Downtown' and 'Let Me Down Gently' when 'Trouble in Paradise' came out and thinking something along the lines of "OH MY GOD THIS SOUNDS FANTASTIC!", so I swiftly went out and bought it. Definitely one of my faves of 2014.

Teleman "Brilliant Sanity"
I'm actually quite enjoying this record. I discovered them when they supported Maximo Park on their 2014 tour.

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
If it's around the 10.4k mark this week, then I'm dreading the next two weeks... I can see Adele being #1 for both - as PJ Harvey and Santana are the only ones looking likely to get high entries next week and Katherine Jenkins seems to be the biggest of new releases on the 22nd.

Buzzjack: Track Of The Week
One Dance, Castle and Boyfriend are the only ones I really like from that list. I've only recently caught on to Tegan and Sara, thanks to an interview Laura Snapes did with them for Buzzfeed last week (which has just reminded me that someone I know actually got this site and that site confused recently).

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
The Vamps were pretty front loaded with physicals though - so it's no surprise. The fact that OMI's appearance on it didn't help much is interesting - but then again his follow up to Cheerleader and his album did relatively nothing. Can't comment on how good/bad the album is though (I've heard 3 or 4 tracks and they don't quite fit into my taste but I'm surprised at the underperformance of it.

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
Mr Brightside is one of those really consistent trickle sellers though, whereas Meds is an album that disappeared out of the chart almost immediately after release despite debuting in the Top 10 (3 weeks in the chart overall I think?) with none of its further singles helping reignite interest. After doing a little search, it's been reissued on vinyl, so that along with those upcoming arena tour dates for their 20th anniversary will be what's helped it.

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
I think Adele has this in the bag. Seeing Deftones at the top has made me very happy - despite the fact they'll not hold on, although they'll definitely end up beating their previous best - #7 in 2003. The fact The Lumineers are so high is surprising, given they haven't had a hit this era like 'Ho Hey'. Also, I know sales are low, but I'm really surprised/confused to see Placebo's 2006 album 'Meds' re-enter at #90...

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
For it to land between 21 and 25 would good enough, like 'Fundamental' and 'Yes' did. I'd be truly surprised if it falls out of the Top 30 like 'Release' and 'Elysium', but it seems rather unlikely they'll fall that far.

Minor Victories - 'Minor Victories'
http://cdn.pitchfork.com/news/60611/eb9291b2.jpg Minor Victories is a supergroup formed of Slowdive's Rachel Goswell, Editors' Justin Lockey, Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite, and James Lockey of Hand Held Cine Club. Pitchfork reported in late February that it's out on June 3rd on Fat Possum (US) and Play It Again Sam (worldwide). It'll feature a duet between Goswell and Mark Kozelek (from Red House Painters and Sun Kil Moon) and a collaboration with the Twilight Sad's James Graham. http://pitchfork-cdn.s3.amazonaws.com/content/Minor%20Victories%20-%20Hi%20Res%20Cover.JPG Tracklist: 01 Give Up The Ghost 02 A Hundred Ropes 03 Breaking My Light 04 Scattered Ashes (Song for Richard) [ft. School Of Seven Bells "SVIIB"
This album is a masterpiece - definitely in my Top 5 of the year so far. I recently picked up the indies-exclusive Purple Vinyl of this - which looks beautiful too.

Friday Chart Predictions (Wed Update + Top 5 Sales)
Bloody hell, that's a lot for a #40! I also recall reading a while back that Will Young sold something like 130,000~ in the run up to Christmas 2005 whilst at like #12/#13. Might be wrong though, but it was something along those lines.
-
All Saints // 🚩 Red Flag 🚩
"It surely didn't sell 100,000, did it?" actually crossed my mind when I was looking at the chart run for 'Studio 1'. I think it's probably 50k or below, however I could be completely wrong! We'll never know unless we find out from MusicWeek on Friday. They'll probably give totals for their first album and 'Never Ever', though it would be nice for all of their album totals.
