  1. I would like it if everybody could be a bit less biased tbh
  2. Really? I’ve seen a lot of mixed reactions
  3. I need this to be her 64th top 10. It’s been 15 years since she’s been in the top 10, we need to change that! We need a download campaign or something, 138 copies away from #10 is so frustrating, but we didn’t think she’d be reset last week
  4. Ariana did better than I expected but we’ll see how it holds up once the curiosity streams tail off
  5. JLo #16, that’s not very nice
  6. She also has a collab with Beyoncé that I’m just finding out exists :o
  7. Mary J. Blige has a very impressive and diverse list of collaborators - Mariah Carey, George Michael, U2, Ray Charles, Jay-Z, Drake, Notorious B.I.G, Rod Stewart, Jessie J, Lil Kim, Andrea Bocelli, Elton John
  8. I’m so used to the big names underperforming recently (Ed, Lewis, Adele (yes I know Easy On Me was huge but still), Dua, Rihanna), idk it’s hard to imagine Ariana bucking the trend unless the song is an undeniable smash. No one is really guaranteed a hit anymore on name alone
  9. Albums aren’t really designed to have 12 singles! Plus the rule of diminishing returns, hard to imagine there’d be much hype left after the 3rd or 4th release
  10. I don’t think the hype is there for Ariana, maybe if she was coming back from thank u, next but Positions was a pretty middling effort from her, it doesn’t feel like the hype is there. The Vogue sample does sound promising though, Positions was basically all mid-tempos
  11. I have a feeling next week will be #1 Noah, #2 Sophie and #3 Ariana
  12. She’s really about to be robbed of a 64th top 10 because The Weeknd’s label is too lazy to ask for a reset (and because of the dumb January rule)
  13. They really should’ve just waited until January to give it a push
  14. Ugh can The Weeknd’s label just ask for a reset for Popular! It’s so unfair because it has surely risen by over 25%. I just want Madonna to get her 64th top 10
  15. Do we know where it would’ve been without ACR?
  16. Why would they do that?
  17. It’s just odd because they gave the singles from Golden and Disco better treatment only for them to limp into the top 75 for a week or 2 (if they’re lucky), Tension singles meanwhile proved Kylie can still get top 20 and top 10 hits and they suddenly decided it doesn’t matter??
  18. It’s odd, we got 5 videos from Golden and Disco. I don’t see why they’d give up on Tension now?
  19. Their timing has been very wacky this era. In a perfect world we’d have had Padam vinyls in June and HOTN vinyls this week for maximum chart impact
  20. Not that I can see. Rick Astley covered it on NYE, but idk if that would explain it doing so well on Spotify!
  21. What’s behind the Ain’t No Mountain High Enough resurgence?
  22. I never particularly liked Dua, and god forbid I acknowledge her new highly anticipated lead single failing to replicate the success of her recent hits eh? Also this is the first time I’ve ever mentioned Houdini anywhere so I don’t see how I’m part of this elaborate conspiracy theory to bring Dua down  I’ve also branded Ed’s new album a flop it’s not exclusive to women (for me anyway) x
  23. I wouldn’t call Houdini a big hit, it debuted high due to hype but has only declined since and the reactions I’ve seen have been pretty lukewarm
  24. A bit disastrous for Dua that Dance the Night is still outperforming Houdini!
  25. It’s a shame Popular won’t be reset because of some dumb rule when it’s actually genuinely increased this week
