No Gwen Stefani or Mary J. Blige even in the Monday update makes me very sad.

He died on Christmas Day, there’s not exactly any other situation to compare it to! It’s like if Michael Jackson had died on Halloween I imagine Thriller might enjoy an extra resurgence every year :lol: If it only started overtaking Mariah gradually after 2016, what other reason can you suggest for this?

George Michael’s death in 2016 (on Christmas Day no less) is responsible for pushing it ahead of Mariah imo. It has a new sense of sadness and nostalgia that only seems to grow every year.

I don’t think so because I’m sure it predates Mariah really jumping on the Christmas train (around 2017ish), I think maybe younger people start sooner so Mariah has a bit of a headstart, and it’s just a bit more uplifting than Wham and is more known for ringing in the Christmas season

I didn’t follow this election as closely as the last 2 because I just had a horrible feeling that it wasn’t even going to be close and sadly that was the case. I suppose it was always going to be an uphill battle considering Kamala’s only had 3 months to campaign, and they frustratingly seem to have fell into the same trap as Hillary by assuming the average voter is smart enough not to vote for Trump. I feel even worse about this than I did about 2016, it’s just going to embolden all of those Elon Musk and Andrew Tate types and their followers. Also, sadly I don’t think America is ready to vote for a woman (especially a WOC) to be president yet

It would take so little for BMG to keep it top 100, just use the Taylor method and give us a slightly different version/discount/signed vinyl every week, I’m shocked they’re seemingly happy to let it flounder after week 1

So maybe shameful was a dramatic word choice lol but it is very disappointing that it’s going to be Kylie’s lowest selling album ever and steal the title from an actual flop album! Especially after BMG’s up to this point excellent management of her legacy and basically reviving her career after KMO.

I mean now she’s going to have her worst performing studio album to date on her hands, so she might have another #1 but Tension II will (likely) always hold that shameful title. Tension 1 didn’t have the most respectable chart run either so it would’ve been nice to see that get a few more weeks in the charts.

Padam did do a lot better on Apple than Spotify, I believe it was top 10 there for a while? On Spotify it only peaked at #21

Yeah of course it’s great but there are valid criticisms to be made about this album’s (and even Tension 1’s) rollout. I just hope for the next era she really plays into her strengths, which will always be the British market

I think it’s more that us British fans feel frustrated about her focus on America the past 2 years and this comment really rubbed us the wrong way, especially when it is so evidently not true. Kylie is just such a part of British culture in a way that she never was or will be in America, and all of this promotion in America only got Tension to chart 5 spots higher than Disco (not to mention Tension II, “distribution problems” or not).

Halsey deserves to be doing much better, it’s the first album of hers I’ve listened to and it’s great, one of the best concept albums in recent years

I hope Gaga charts at #10 just so we can say she has peaked at every number in the top 10.
