So mad I couldn't get the signed LP, it was impossible to get for most people outside the US

With the <5k gap it’s had the past few weeks they could’ve easily taken it another week, even this week, if they did a Madonna-style cheap CD with instant shipping and some other incentive to buy! So it could’ve got it another week. I know Shakira doesn’t really care about the UK but they did launch that half-hearted last minute competition the week it looked close, you’d think they’d have been monitoring how close it’s been in subsequent weeks and done something but alas they haven’t. Saying this isn’t taking anything away from its performance, I just feel Shakira deserves some more chart success here, her stats here don’t really reflect how big she truly is.

I’m not surprised since it was already down to like what the 74th best seller by Tuesday last week? Downloads are negligible this week and streaming non-existent. Ahh well, it did its job!

I don’t know who they like these days I hope Radio 2 at least support it but Natasha is in an odd position, her old stuff is still very popular and her name is still out there but she doesn’t have a fanbase like the Sugababes to give the new stuff any sort of push.

Agreed! 10 downloads and 4 physical variants is enough for me it’s done amazingly and whatever happens from here, I’m satisfied. Madonna and Kylie are in the top 10!!! With a collab!! In 2026!! This still feels like a dream

I get what you're saying but I think the priority for them was getting the top 10 peak. Once they realised it was within reach it didn't really matter whether it was #10 or #6, which was probably the maximum position that was achievable, they just needed to throw however many copies it took out to make sure it got there. It's just good that they have some tricks left up their sleeve with the 7" to cushion the fall a bit.

With a newly recorded song I would think she is, I can't think of any other examples. The oldest woman to get a new top 10 before now that I can think of is Tina Turner with When the Heartache is Over weeks before she turned 60, or Diana Ross with Westlife when she was 61 (although whether that counts as new is debatable!).

At least the drop won’t be so dramatic! They could’ve probably had the 7”s out yesterday if they wanted to but I don’t know how much good it would’ve done, they would’ve needed 5k more for top 5.

A teeny tiny part of me wishes Popular kept its initial #11 peak so the headlines wouldn’t have to have the caveat that it’s her first top 10 as the lead artist since 2009, this definitely feels like more of a moment.

!!! Same with Madonna and most legacy acts tbh, they'd never let an album release be staggered like that, it's all about the biggest debut possible, don't know why singles aren't given the same treatment

Omg 77 sales separating it from #10! That very last minute downloading campaign (including 10 from moi) definitely made the difference between #10 (possibly lower) and #8. Just seen #12 sold 19,370 so those last few downloads really could’ve been what pushed it into the top 10! Wow

Omg!!! My CD order is saying I refused delivery and it’s being returned to sender, no one even tried to deliver it to me. I hate Amazon

That’s expensive for a 7”, probably scraping back whatever money they can from how quickly they expedited the CDs this week lol. Can’t see it making a dent on the charts at that price but whatever they’ve already got top 10!!!
