Lol this I don't know why people acted like last week was his last chance to get the record and had to have that last minute rally to block Shakira. You know what, I actually hope he's #1 for another 19 weeks now

I think this is for the best, it’s just awful timing with what’s supposed to be a kind of celebration for her with her album just coming out and tour wrapping up. I hope she’s okay and getting any help she needs and comes back stronger. Her appearance has been very worrying and it’s been increasingly hard to ignore.

This is just amazing to see them team up after almost 40 years as “rivals” (but not really), pop culture history has been made

Eh I really enjoyed the Eternal Sunshine deluxe tracks and the new single so I was excited for this but this album doesn’t do much for me on first listen. They all just blend together, I’ve listened through about 3 times now and hardly remember anything

I do wish they were doing more to keep the momentum going, I don’t think it has long left in the top 100 at this rate (Tension, the closest comparison I think, went 1-8-36-83-OUT). #43 sold 3,270 so about 3.3k added this week, so the album is on about 64.7k in total.

Seriously lol? Those songs are one in a million. If Dai Dai misses out this week the minuscule chance that it could somehow become a perennial classic and return to #1 every World Cup isn’t… Isn’t exactly the same as Rein Me In inevitably climbing back to #1 the next week is it.

Would also add Diana Ross. Diana (1980) was the biggest album of her career, and then from a UK perspective she got her biggest hit 6 years later with Chain Reaction after a few flop eras. I do think this proves it is harder for artists to maintain a repeak though, which makes Kylie’s the most impressive imo, the 00s was her strongest decade by far.

Seeing this going one away and Danceteria the other when Danceteria started above it in the first midweek is infuriating Older artists can do better now but there really is a ceiling to it, Padam Padam and Pussy Palace showed that, if those songs were by a younger artist I’m sure they would’ve taken off even further

I guess Shakira’s focus is on the Latin market, but you’d still think her label would care about getting a UK #1. Gives me hope that a new English album might do decently though. She’s never really lost her cool factor. I will absolutely be chucking a download or 2 Dai Dai’s way!
