Streaming services in general are very very underpriced. Obviously from a consumer point of view, that’s a good thing, but art is so devalued right now, artists shouldn’t have to tour to earn a living. It’s the services own fault for pricing themselves so low to begin with, it’s like how Uber “disrupted” the taxi market with low prices and now it’s just cheaper to get a normal taxi. It’s hard to make people pay more for something when they’re used to it being so cheap - like I refuse to ever pay for YouTube as it’s something I used to get for free. So basically I think they kinda shot themselves in the foot by pricing so low to begin with, it was always unsustainable. Now people are naturally going to think they’re getting ripped off when really they’re paying slightly closer to it’s true value

It’s not great for us but it is pretty great that a new album isn’t just an excuse to go on tour for her, as it seems to be for a lot of artists! She still has a lot of passion

An album can still be huge without having any individual hits… just look at Norah Jones. The album is literally just out and all of the tracks are still high so people are clearly still digesting the whole body of work. I just haven’t seen much focus around specific tracks like there was with Anti-Hero last time. Time will tell if any of the tracks stay up there after the others fall away. I don’t know why some people on this forum have to dramatise everything. I never called her a “flop”, I literally said she’s doing amazing, I just didn’t say the album is packed with hits, nor does it have to be.

Is everybody just being wilfully obtuse? We’ll see how they hold up in the coming weeks, people were seeking out the album this week not those tracks specifically. Folklore was a massive album that had no real “hits” even if it spawned three top 10s. I’m not here to get into petty disputes over what constitutes a “hit”

How does auto play work exactly? I only really play my own library on shuffle so I don’t think I’ve ever had anything forced upon me

I’m absolutely in love with this :wub: it’s from the same sessions as Born To Make You Happy and I Will Be There apparently and it really reminds me of the latter. Quite hard to believe it got cut from the album! According to a member on Exhale there’s a BOMT 25 re-release coming, so this may be a part of that. It does sounds very high quality for a 26 year old song that was left on the cutting room floor so I’m cautiously optimistic they have plans to release it! I don’t feel like Fortnight has had much impact - obviously the first week numbers are huge! But it seems like more of a Cardigan than an Anti-Hero

I’m honestly quite shocked all we’re seemingly getting from this era is 3 singles (2 videos). Hold On To Now’s release was so botched it hardly even counts as a single, the era was basically done the day the album was released. It’s really not like BMG to just release the album and move on, the Disco and Golden eras seemed to go on forever. I don’t know but she did very well to get a top 10 and a top 20 hit, would’ve been nice to see them try to keep the momentum up.

I’m kinda not surprised it’s not looking to have much longevity I still haven’t heard it anywhere
