Leona Lewis
Although chart wise, it'll probably boost it a little which would also give the original a bit more attention?

Destination X • Series 1
There's parts of it I enjoy, though there's some parts that probably could have been better executed. I don't know why participants in these shows get worked up over the others "playing a game". Only one person can win, after all.

Will a self contained group ever have a no.1 single again?
If we're talking active bands, the only #1 we've had all decade is Little Mix (Sweet Melody). In terms of inactive bands, The Beatles. There's the Live Lounge Allstars but that's a collection of solo artists so not really the same.

How do your friends react to you for being a chart geek?
My friends (who generally are autistic like me) know that I am obsessed with random bits of trivia and having a strong memory when it comes to certain things. It's a weird one cos I know someone who's 22 and I recognise the artists she's going to see even without being a massive fan of them, purely because of how much I glance at sales figures and the like.

Final | Women's Euro 2025
Who's the little girl stood next to Prince William? They're the first team to ever win the Euros after having lost their first game.

Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn launch new party
Hopefully they can convert these into longer-term supporters when the party is fully up-and-running. They've got the momentum behind the idea but it's all for nothing if people take a look at the policies and decide it's not what they signed up for.

Leona Lewis
That definitely points to new material. I hope she gets a decent push, though maybe she's content with putting something out there for the fans without caring too much about chart positions.

Closed shops
A bit of a niche one - Birmingham Airport used to have a viewing gallery (and a shop for memorabilia) at the top of the terminal. I loved going there (even though I visited it about four times) but sadly it closed in 2011.

Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn launch new party
I think with this they need to go in hard, because I don't think their impact would be felt if they don't reach the people they're wanting to reach. Otherwise they're basically just a "minor" party.

Oh England! I really did not see that coming.

Sweden v England | Women's Euro 2025
I'm glad they've been able to make a comeback.

Has she had much promo? I was completely unaware until I saw this post but I wondered how she was reaching people.

Ten years ago today was the last Sunday chart
It feels strange now to think that a song would be played on the radio for two months before you could even download it, and that was happening into the 2010s as well. If anything I'm surprised it took so long to implement the whole "song is released at the same time it's heard".

Where have all the bands gone?
In an edition of The Rest is Entertainment from last July (the podcast with Richard Osman & Marina Hyde), this came up. There have been just three weeks in the first half of the 2020s where a band was #1 in the singles chart. That compares to 141 in the first half of the 1990s. Only one of those was an active, actual band at the time and that was Little Mix. The other two were The Beatles and the Radio 1 Live Lounge Allstars. They still sell albums and tour well though, so for whatever reason (it not being as much of a sell compared with a solo artist for a record label) bands generally aren't shifting singles. If they are, they're not charting very high either.

Ed Sheeran - Sapphire
The music video has surpassed 100 million on YouTube. That compares with 27m for Azizam (35m for the Pink Heart video) and 11m for Old Phone. Despite its charting performance (#9 in the latest frame) it seems to have gained a lot more traction for him, even if a lot of that may be from India.

Ten years ago today was the last Sunday chart
The last Sunday chart was on 5th July 2015, with the first Friday chart being 10th July. How do you feel about it? Especially with it having been Sunday for so long. It definitely made life harder for X Factor's winners singles because they'd lose a few days of sales.
