Still three times in 7 Still 3 times in 6 weeks it does seem like a cheap and desperate pattern lol
  2. well what can i say out of 350k Swift has sold up to today in the Uk 285k are physicals so the 23 viriants played a huge part beacuse of the repeat buys. I am not sure as to whether her following is as big as you think or they are just very loyal and buy every sngle version of the 23 released. Back then though they only released one version of the album and not 23 viriants or else people like Michael jackson, madonna, whitney etc would sell tons of albums on their first week.
  3. i am not saying it never happened but the same way now you stream an album out of curiosity and its gets sales......so i wonder how many people stream it out of curiosity and they never buy it cause they dont like it much.
  4. Not really cause back then you would buy an album, if you were not a hard die fun (and most likely you`d love the album but you would buy 1 copy not 10) because of the singles they released or because you heard iot from a friend. It would still be one version of the album though, not 10-15.
  5. The ones you mentioned are today and its like you said, even though i think nobody has milked their funs the way swift has especially with her last one. All i said is that you cant compare todays sales with the ones in the 80s,90s,2000s
  6. Its not the same as the artists back then didnt try to milk their funs with all these variants and then adding two songs each time every two weeks for the next two months, like Taylor did since yoou mentioned her, If you bought 4 copies of the same album... well not much i can say about that. haha. All i said is that you can not compare todays sales with those and the reasons are very obvious.
  7. Well most of these albums were released in 3 formats only ,1 LP, 1 Vinyl and 1 cassette so there is no comparison to today where you have 5 cd 5 vinyl and 5 tapes at least of the same album! Back then it meant so much more...! Those were the real records!!!

Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You: The Best Of Whitney Houston (2x) Always great to see Whitney certifications. If they hadnt swiched from "the ulltimate collection" to this one, "ultimate" would probably be at 8 times platinum by now.

To be honest i think the reason it wasnt as succesful as her previous ones its because it was a boring album one of the same..
  13. and thats the area of streaming..... uncharted songs becoming platinum.....

it doesnt matter anymore. Even her other "singles" certifications were only two top 20 not even a top 10. Thats the state of certifications nowdays, 7 certifications and not a single top10

Birthdays? this happens now as well. Listening to songs you dont really like its the norm now with the playlists and they get sales and charts points. As for R.E.M it was still bought, same as steaming a song now and then never listen to it again, willingly at least. Most albyms and singles in the past were bought because people wanted to and not because someone else chose the list. the singles sold back then didnt help the album sales it was all pure sales for singles and for albums, one didnt count towards the other;'s sales and there's no argument to that. its a fact , whether someone likes or not.
