I have a feeling that Piri and Tommy influenced this!
-
Girls Aloud - Wake Me Up
The weird screeching sounds in the production in the various parts of the song!

Julian rates every 21st century Top 40 hit
'To Get Down' is certainly catchy and I remember it from the time. 'Point of View' I also remember a lot from the time it's a really nice song that probably had big crossover and MOR appeal.

Song Covers SoundClash #4
Surprised you didn't include 'Feel This Moment' by Pitbull and Christina Aguilera in this, has a prominent Take On Me sample! The A1 cover is good, the original song is too good to be ruined I think. I still voted for Milk Inc, one of the several Belgian eurotrance acts of 2002. The eurotrance/trance-pop sound of 2002 to me is much like a precursor to the 2011-2012 EDM but with harder synths. Was discussing this in the Julian 00s thread but its funny because as well as Milk Inc there were also artists called Milky, Milk and Sugar and a featured rapper called Milk charting in the early 00s.

Nice to have das Apfelmusik chart back! I prefer the new D.O.D. track to the Nathan Dawe and Sonna Fodera ones.

I like the big picture now for these chart commentaries - Chappell looks amazing!

90s Top 10 sales- Week By Week- 1997
'Coco Jambo' is quite Ace of Base/Beloved Sweet Harmony sounding in terms of production! 'Free' the best song in that top 10 for me and one I remember a lot from the time although I really like 'I Wanna Be The Only One' too such a MOR radio fave now. I prefer Aquagen's version of 'Hard To Say I'm Sorry'!

Chappell Roan - The Giver
Its a bit Ariana Grande - Positions reminiscent with the different jobs!

Julian rates every 21st century Top 40 hit
'The Drill' is a good track, the last time anything like it in style charted in the UK was the big room days of 2014. I actually prefer the Ferry Corsten remix of the E'voke song. Ashanti has better/more emotive songs! Also I prefer RAYE and Mr Eazi's 'Decline' which sampled it to 'Always On Time' The Kaci song is a bit too bubblegum even for my pop tastes back then as a child! I like most early Enrique but 'Hero' is overplayed on radio and boring. Assumed until a few minutes ago that the Incubus song was a Pink Floyd cover.

The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1988
'Loco In Acapulco' is another fab 60s Motown influenced upbeat song, is it better than the fellow Dozier and Holland written 'Two Hearts' by Phil Collins?....probably imo!

Yeah the chart trance and big room dance music of 2002 is interesting, I like comparing it to the big room progressive house phase in the charts that it influenced ten years later in 2012!

Calvin Harris - SMOKE THE PAIN AWAY
