  1. Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel's charting cover in 1976 of this is often used to refer to the hot summer of 1976 - it was in a news article about that year's summer today.
  2. Not one of my faves I think due to overplay on music channels/radio. It is a song with a positive message though! Yeah there was a bit of glam rock revival in 1986 with Sigue Sigue Sputnik too charting that year.
  3. That's a pity about Curacao I was watching that one but have switched to Ecuador Germany.
  4. Might enter and vote in this, its been a while!
  5. Lighthouse Family have some lovely songs I agree and the good vocals. Don't know much about fellow easy listening star Michael Bolton although I know his best known song HAISTLWY Dina Carroll is good too but I only know the two main hits the one with Quartz and Dont Be A Stranger.

Both their long running #1 songs are dreary and dated they have better upbeat tracks that charted 'Rachel' by Al Martino and 'Rawhide' by Frankie Laine.
  7. York - On The Beach not mentioned yet? Prefer it to ATB - 9pm.
  8. Raleigh Ritchie - Stronger Than Ever just remembered that one amazing!
  9. In terms of their legacy PinkPantheress and Piri and Tommy sound influenced by AlunaGeorge too!
  10. If Germany rest a few players Ecuador could win.
  11. Don't know what way Japan vs Sweden will go both teams have done well so far. There will probably be more Japan supporters in the stadium than Swedes which might help them. The other match is a bit of a dead rubber, as Tunisia are already out.
  12. Curacao 1-3 Ivory Coast Ecuador 0-1 Germany Tunisia 0-3 Netherlands Japan 1-2 Sweden Turkey 0-3 USA Paraguay 1-1 Australia
  13. Have Brazil?
  14. Ai Se Eu Te Pego definitely big holiday song in its day, anything with a Latin accordion sounds summery hence Danza Kuduro too. Elsewhere Yves Larock - Rise Up and Fuse ODG - Antenna.

Think this is going to be a long night for Scotland

Didn't know that - thought ‘You’re Makin’ Me High’'s only famous sample was Mist ft Fredo 'So High'.
  17. 'What Is Love' by Howard Jones is great and my favourite track there. Have liked it for a long time. It even has a Nero dubstep sounding bit. The Thompson Twins 'Hold Me Now' in contrast is a bit MOR and dreary for me. 'My Oh My' is very Rod Stewart ballad sounding, not really my sort of thing. 'This Charming Man' is a good upbeat song. 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' likewise and the highlight is that hip hop/rave anticipating breakbeat bit before the guitar solo.
  18. I spoke too soon, the substitute Promise lived up to his name within a minute or so great 👍
  19. Promise coming on for Canada, the team are severely lacking in promise atm!
  20. That's a disappointing result for Canada if it stays the same considering they are at home.
  21. The other match on ITV 4 must be better than this one so far
  22. Oh Maria Rubia on the boat memories! It sounds good and it's the kind of thing Radio 2 should be playlisting, they playlist loads of other early 00s artists.
  23. Don't know why they couldnt credit her.
  24. Musically its preferable to Silva Bumpa ripping off Calvin Harris - Summer with a muted and more boring version of the riff while the rest of the song is minimal and boring too. ANOTR - Talk To You is getting repetitive and boring as well though. The Aitch - Ring My Bell is dance too and I am glad it's hanging around in Apple chart.
  25. I like that song and the dance version Ultrabeat - Feeling Fine.
