  1. We're taking it higher, higher, higher off the ground.
  2. Thought David Guetta would be not far behind Calvin!
  3. It was quiet.
  4. Top 5 Phil Lynott (and Midge Ure) - Yellow Pearl The Mobiles - Drowning In Berlin Depeche Mode - See You (the music is darker/moodier than their previous tracks) Japan - European Son Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Maid Of Orleans (The Waltz Of Joan Of Arc) The Human League - Being Boiled XTC - Senses Working Overtime Haircut One Hundred - Love Plus One Fun Boy Three And Bananarama - It Aint What You Do It's The Way That You Do It (B&Q advert memories) Soft Cell - Say Hello, Wave Goodbye Daryl Hall And John Oates - I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) J Geils Band - Centerfold (this is so catchy, na-na-na-na-na singalongy near the end but couldn't put it higher on my list because of the lyrical themes in it which have aged so badly) Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills (great chorus but the verse lyrics are too violent) It was difficult to rank these!
  5. I like the singing and melody of 'Don't Talk Just Kiss' but the lyrics are just cringe. Prefer the original 'Live And Let Die'. 'Roobarb and Custard' is good fun too.
  6. Big change of sound at a time I was used to the I'm Like A Bird - Nelly Furtado Basically the start of EDM-pop.

  8. One of the most influential dance songs of the 90s! Kinda wish it wasn't, as too many producers try to copy its minimalist house vibes!
  9. Move Mania is great, and Up and Down is fun and sounds influenced by Gym and Tonic lyrically. The Corrs song is quite nice too. Ruff Driverz quite good too.
  10. No change at #1, what was there in Jan 1984 to change that, maybe D:Ream and Enigma?! Yeah as for I Miss You I prefer Rock My Heart from Haddaway!
  11. Lloyds TSB!
  12. I remember in school at the time some of my friends joked about with the sound system and slowed 'Patience' to about half of its speed, I found it funny! 'Boogie 2Nite' is still a great bop for me.
  13. I guess its the Olivia hiatus effect. Good 4 U is a good upbeat pop rock tune! We need a new Calvin Harris/HAIM collab, Pray To God was very good, and now I reckon the production was inspired by Strings of Life by Derrick May!
  14. I love the 1982 UK charts but haven't heard many of those songs, wow from the vaults indeed. Steve Winwood - Valerie obviously one of the best known of the tracks (a minor US hit and also later sampled by Eric Prydz) along with Asia's excellent Heat of The Moment (as it was a US hit). Why was there two versions of Iko Iko, Belle Stars and Natasha. I prefer 'Sign of the Times' from the Belle Stars! Blue Zoo are good but yeah the right song became the hit! David Sylvian after being in the band Japan actually collabed with a Japanese artist, then, cool! The Classix Nouveaux follow up was unlike their biggest hit in style and also was very Ultravox, maybe deemed too similar in style to that band to make top 40?!
  15. Around the World the only dance track on the compilation? :o
  16. The Ava Max Head and Heart kind of got overshadowed as a classic by the Joel Corry/MNEK one of similar name!
  17. Only The Horses! Even if it did owe a lot stylistically to Swedish House Mafia!
  18. This sounds like a very good track, I miss this style of dance.

Its much more the Disco Lines than the Tinashe part that I don't like - the dreary flat production.
  20. I really like that East Side Beat cover, especially the version with the 'I'll set you free' female vocal (doesn't seem to be on that TOTP version strangely)! It helps that the original Ride Like The Wind is a very good song anyway which sadly flopped in the UK in 1980! The Elton and George duet and the Diana Ross ballad are nice and so is Justified and Ancient - a good festive season dance hit and it is quite wintery with Tammy's earnest vocal! Nirvana classic with one of the best guitar riffs ever!
  21. Voted for Wheatus! Thought Bob the Builder was more a British thing!
  22. Bizarre Inc. and Altern8 - energetic and interesting production in both tracks!

Thought HAVEN would have made the list
  24. So it will just be Taylor continuing at #1 with rather low streams in the New Year
