I was looking up the 2021 charts for nostalgia yesterday. Bed is basic and cringey and I get why Raye doesn't like it any more, Dont Play is great especially the chorus from Anne Marie. Montero with its Cant Hold Us style horns was a good #1. A1 and J1 too yeah there were more rap hits back then!- Julian rates every Top 40 hit: the 1980s edition
The Flock Of Seagulls track is good and sounds more like a mid or late 80s track too.- Julian rates every Top 40 hit: the 1980s edition
Talk Talk is a very good synthpop/dance-rock track! Mirror Man also has a good dance beat to it - is very good too, one of Human League's best! Other Side of Love is a good feelgood song! I like Renee and Renato actually it sounds like a throwback to the really early days of the chart in the 50s like David Whitfield!- The 184
i'm sending something?- iTunes Weekly Thread w/c 3rd April 2026
Elitest as oppoed to Elitist which is more negative.- The Best Song Contest In The World...Ever! Vol. 13: Retro Lottery
40 please- The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1993
Ordinary World is a good ballad I used to like it more than I do now. Deep by East 17 is OK I suppose but I much preferred House of Love. M People's production is very muted and poppy compared to the rest of the more rave influenced British dance scene before it. But a great soulful vocal from Heather Small as ever.- The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1993
Sweet Harmony is undated indeed as shown by the similarities of production in Lady Gaga's Alejandro. No Limit yes definitely one of the most striking of 2Unlimited's songs.- Jim ranks the 2009 UK #1s
Preferred 'Eyes Wide Shut' that was peak JLS.- Round 8 : End Of Year Survivor #139
Reminds me of the 'niceday' stationery company that was popular in the 00s!- Dance Track of the Week 2026: Week 14
Anyma Beautiful is just weak compared to what festival progressive house/trance used to be! Quite like Chris Stussy's Strings Of Life style intro at the start but not really the rest of the song. Voted for Dimension and bbyclose for the Matrix and Futurebound style nostalgia. What happened to E for Ely Oaks? Last year it looked like he was going to be the next big thing in dance!- Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 03/04/26
Didn't know who Chris Rainbow was either - a 70s prog rock musician apparently - interesting!- Jim ranks the 2009 UK #1s
Never liked Boys and Girls much it was about strong debut Mama Do and later Bright Lights for Pixie Lott. All About Tonight was quite good too. And for the latter can someone rate the 2011 #1s soon? I think we should go up to 2015 for now!- Streaming Services Chart Discussion; W/C 03/04/26
GO WILD GO WILD GO WILD IN THE COUNTRY!- Juranabaijan | clxxxvii | South Arcade - Supermodels
Sing Juranamo! Sing Juranamo!- 90s Top 10 sales- Week By Week- 1999
Maybe no Coldplay without Travis!- 90s Top 10 sales- Week By Week- 1999
Synth and Strings is very good, disco house and hard house mixed! Better Off Alone is a very good track even if it is a bit cheesy. It did almost certainly inspire the whole Clubland trend in the 00s, as well as probably underground PC Music/hyperpop in the late 2010s. Plus obviously in 2012 David Guetta with Play Hard.- The Gallup Years- Top 10 Sales- 1993
Open Your Mind and its video are great. The 90's eurodance sound is here; I really like how following the success of Snap!'s Rhythm Is A Dancer and Felix's Don't You Want Me, dance music was becoming more synth based at this time, I prefer it to piano house. Sweet Harmony is very good, the production really reminds me of Lady Gaga's Alejandro actually! 'The Love I Lost' has a lovely vocal but the production is a bit cheesy and dated being very 1990 Stock Aitken Waterman in production style. 'Steam' is an inferior 'Sledgehammer', the muscly body suit that Peter Gabriel wears is the most interesting part of it.- Jester ranks the number 1s of 1987
Stand By Me - iconic. The Percy Sledge track it kept off #1 has a similar backing track with the organ to Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale. The Percy song was released first! Madonna's Who's That Girl is a good track and so is Rick Astley although the latter sounds more dated.- iTunes Weekly Thread w/c 3rd April 2026
Thought this was a new BJSC country for a second there when it appeared in most recent posts on the Buzzjack home page!- Suggestion Box!
Having the shoutbox back again would be useful for notifications about song contests, listening sessions and other Buzzjack events (as it used to be).- Colm Rates and Ranks the YTD Numbers 11 to 20 for Each Year of the 1990s
The Sign is a good electronic pop/reggae song. The production style wasn't new though; In the 80s Carly Simon - Why had a similar groove/production to Ace of Base (such a ahead of its time track) as did Karel Fialka - Hey Matthew. Outhere Brothers' radio edit version copied Reel 2 Reel's production. I Like To Move It is a good and fun dance track!- Jim ranks the 2009 UK #1s
It has good nostalgic orchestral production to it (copied later in the fab Bright Lights with Pixie and also by The Wanted). - The BuzzJack Friday Chart Show Thread: 10th April 2026
