  1. I like Ghetto Love Story by BabyChiefDoit, it is from the Miami Bass genre and has a faster beat than most modern hip hop. It follows on from DaBaby - Pop Dat Thang which has similar production (but bad lyrics).
  2. Hall Of Fame another Airplanes style pop rap track which I didnt mind at the time and the lyrics are pretty inspiring! Will.i.ams rap is better than in This Is Love. Wasn't a fan of Amelia Lily - You Bring Me Joy but I really liked Shut Up and Give Me Whatever You Got from her that was a bit of an epic.
  3. When that hotline bling That can only mean one thing
  4. I do think for some weeks we need a bit more than 8 choices some of the top ones on the new EDM playlist below get shunned. Anyway. Anyway, it is trance vs dubstep for me and this week dubstep wins: Voted for Nero and Emily Maitlis
  5. Moving Too Fast is good but also rather sad musically. I remember it from the time.

Congrats Nine you are less annoying than Six Seven.
  7. It was B Listed at Capital though.
  8. 'Wings' is good the drum bit in the final chorus especially.
  9. Round and Around, Tarzan Boy, Into The Groove, If I Was and Johnny Come Home are the best songs for me here. The former is unjustly forgotten.

    bit late now.
  11. Bryan has some good tracks. Everything I Do is emotive but a bit over sweet, I prefer his later 90s stuff When You're Gone, Cloud Number 9 and Don't Give It Up in 2000. Rage had a good cover of Run To You in 1992 as well.
  12. I might take part again!
  13. We need another collab from them -The Chainsmokers have more of a melodic techno sound now.
  14. Wanted festival progressive house mixed with hard trance but this is more chillout progressive trance like Chicane. Its a nice enough song though!
  15. I love Japan - Quiet Life a rerelease of the original from 1979 the production was influential for Duran Duran - Planet Earth and also Classix Nouveaux - Is It A Dream. All three tracks are great. Ultravox The Voice is an epic too. The Freeze from Spandau Ballet is their best 1981 song for me. For post-disco Yarborough & Peoples - Don't Stop The Music is the best track from 1981 good electronic production and groove.
  16. Denial
  17. Nice enough cover. Acoustic covers were becoming popular in adverts there was also Templecloud from the KFC advert and Charlene Soraia's Twinings advert cover from the year before; both making the charts. I preferred the latter of the three at the time.
  18. 'Smalltown Boy' a pioneeering but sad song lyrically and the production is good too. 'Only When You Leave' is one of my favourite Spandau Ballet pop era songs. I really like 'Pearl In The Shell' actually. I think A-ha - Train of Thought sounds influenced by it. 'You're the Best Thing' is a very nice summery song. It is a bit Paul Young influenced I think with the soul sound and bass guitar.
  19. TOP 5 Laura Branigan - Self Control Hazell Dean - Whatever I Do (Wherever I Go) Alphaville - Big In Japan Depeche Mode - Master And Servant Divine - You Think You're A Man Next 5 Level 42 - Hot Water Prince - When Doves Cry Howard Jones - Like To Get To Know You Well Jeffrey Osborne - On The Wings Of Love Miami Sound Machine - Dr Beat 'Self Control' great Italo-disco song and certified classic - I don't watch TV much so I am not bored by the Virgin Media ads with it in it. Hazell Dean's best song here good dance beats and some really interesting industrial dance beats with the Depeche Mode track! 'Big In Japan' builds very good. The instrumental of 'You Think You're A Man' is very modern dance sounding in parts, not so keen on the vocal but it still makes my top 5. Level 42 are starting to get better now ahead of their mid 80s golden period - 'Hot Water' is a good dance tune! 'When Doves Cry' is such a good song lyrically. Howard Jones has a good tropical pop song there, and also the first verse sounds quite Ace of Base ahead of time. 'On The Wings of Love' is cheesy but a nice song and nostalgic. 'Dr Beat' a good song and I liked it's 'Dr Pressure' revival in 2005.
  20. Probably the band do not want a reset anyway!
  21. 'Shoop Shoop Song' and 'Believe' were massive indeed! Elsewhere, not really a fan of Wet Wet Wet's 90s songs but their debut hit 'Wishing I Was Lucky' from 1987 is really good.
  22. Its good, bringing an afrobeats sound to the top of the chart and that makes it stand out from the other EDM-pop songs of the time. I quite liked it at the time. Calvin Harris feat. Example – We’ll Be Coming Back is more generic for the time but its quite a nice song Example's voice is nostalgic. There were better progressive house songs though.
  23. Solidarity with les pompieres de Bordeaux πŸš’ πŸ§‘β€πŸš’ πŸ‘©β€πŸš’ πŸš’
  24. The AdΓ©la song reminds me in parts of Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop, a song I really didn't like in 2013! It's a better song than it though. I would prefer a Tiktok revival of the song 'Winter In July'.
